Ch 5: The friend of he old sage

7 years later on a cold dark full moon night, a stranger rides a horse to the Pherenth Kingdom

Upon arriving two guards standing outside doing their job stop this person from entering their kingdom.

“Hold it right their Stranger.” one of those guards took one step forward to stop this person.

The mystery stranger did what the guard commanded and stopped in front of them.

“What business do you have here in our kingdom?” the other asked with a little damnation in his tone of voice.

“I am here to visit this wonderful place along with seeing an old friend.” the stranger answered while getting off his horse.”

“That is your purpose, we were not informed of someone coming, who is this friend you seek to see again.”

“That would be me.” a familiar voice spoke out to them.

The stranger smiled while the two guards looked behind them to see it was the powerful sage Mack Harrison.

Those guards quickly bow their heads to the old man.

The old sage ignores them walking past the two to be face to face with his friend.

“It is good to see you again, Erhear Slienthawk.” the old sage bowed his head to him.

“I am happy to see you too, my dear friend.” Erhear Slienthawk grabs the hood covering his face to relieve his long blonde hair, sharp ear, and blue.

The guards were surprised to see him.

“I see you still have much age my friend.” the old sage said with envy in his tone.

“Oh do not be like my friend, be happy you can age my kind take too long, anyway why don’t show me around this lovely kingdom of yours.”

The old sage agrees as the two of them start making their way inside while ignoring the two guards who didn’t say anything.

Mack and Erhear Slienthawk spend the time talking with each other, catching up for old-time sake.

When they arrive in the tower things soon begin to change as Erhear Slienthawk can feel it when Mack the old sage voice changes.

“Have you been reading the letter I sent you?” the old sage asks after opening the door to the tower.

“You speaking about the boy you have told me about, I am honest because what you have told me in the letter makes me more interested to learn about him.”

“I understand how you feel the boy caught my interest as well along with my worries.”

“What do you mean?” Erhear Slienthawk asked, but got no answer from the old sage yet.

Soon the two enter his room where he keeps all his books, potions, or any other magical-related item.

“Sit down my friend, I will bring you something to drink along with my notes on the boy.”

Erhear Slientawk listens to his friend sitting done waiting not too long for his cup to drink and the notes that soon fight in front.

“You have notes on the boy about what could be the reason to do that.”

“Read the notes and you will see.” that was all the old sage said to him.

So the Elf Ehear started right away reading the notes and not too long, he began to show an expression of shock, but still kept on reading on the notes until no more can be read.

“That…. Can not be…. Mack what those things mean…. The boy.”

“I wish I could give you a straight answer my friend, but as you can see I am as well lost to understand.”

The two were quiet for a moment drinking from their cups until one of them broke the silence.

“How can a boy like him be born with a gift that will make many fear or some that would like to have a boy like him in their hands to be used as a tool.”

“You say that Erhear, but what makes me more concerned is what he plans to do with such power when he grows to the right age to make that decision.”

“Is that fear, I detect in your tone there my friend.”

The old sage let out a small chuckle before speaking.

“I would be lying if I said, I don’t fear the boy. In truth, I fear him a lot even as a teacher.”

“So you're this boy's teacher,” Erhear asks.

“Along with one of the twins who shows a gift in magic too, but not like the boy.”

“I assume it was the queen who made you take one of those twins to teach.”

“What choice did I have even as a powerful sage, I have to obey royalty.”

Erhear laughed right after the old sage said that.

“Oh, how I pretty you friend, so tell me more as an interest to hear.”

“Very well.” The two kept on talking through the night.

----------------------------------------------

The sun rises as it means the next day has come and it seems the old sage Mack and Erhear Slientawk talk all through the night.

So with the two not tired the old sage thought that his Elf friend here should have the time to meet the boy who told him about it.

The Elf Erhear agreed and the two of them left the tower making their way to the royal castle where the king and queen lived.

Of course, the old sage sent a notice that he was coming along with a friend.

The guards that were expecting them led them to the throne room where the king and queen along with their twin sons were there.

“Ah, wise sage Mack, it is good to see you.” The king welcomed the old sage.

“As it is the same for me, my king, now allow me to introduce my friend here Erhear Slientawk.”

“It is an honor to meet you king, ruler of the Pherenth Kingdom.” Elf Erhear bows his head in respect to the king.

“Any friend to the sage is a welcome friend of mine.” the king said.

“Thank you for the kind welcome.” when Erhear said that the old sage noticed that someone was missing.

“My king is Loren. Your third son is not here, I thought the boy would be here, I would like for him to meet my friend.”

“Ah right my son Loren is studying with his mother, but I think he can take a break for the moment.”

The king ordered one of his guards to go get his son Loren and his mother to bring them to the throne room.

While that was happening the queen was not pleased about it as she wise that those two never existed more

Not long after the two arrived in the throne room Erhear was shocked to see that the boy had slanted blue eyes along with silky, straight, very long hair the color of cold ashes, and was worn in a handsome, businesslike style.

The boy's skin also shows to be the color of China-white.

Erhear took a good look at the boy, mother, and father noticing neither one of them has the same hair color Loren has.

Yet it wasn’t that which caught his attention it was the overflowing power the Elf Erhear is feeling coming off the small boy.

Erhear Slientawk tries his very best not to show himself shaking in fear as Loren the boy slowly walks up to him.

“It is nice to meet you, Erhear Slientawk, friend of Mack.” Loren greeted him, bowing his head and smiling at the Elf Erhear.

Erhear returns the greeting to the boy, but he doesn’t see that Loren can see right through him knowing what dark secret that he is hiding.
