Ch 7: The line I walk between two paths

Erhear was surprised along with being confused at the same time from what Loren said to him.”

“You want to be this world monster, what do you mean by that,” Erhear asks, pressing closely against Loren's neck creating a small cut.

Even with the boy now bleeding a little yet he does show any expression at all so it just stares right into Erhear's eyes.

“What I mean is what I said to become a monster yet I can be different.”

“How excited do you mean different? You wish to become a monster, one that likes to bring chaos and destruction to this world along with those living on it. There is no such difference.”

“That where you wrong Erhear is the difference when one becomes a monster and I would explain if you let go of me now to do so.”

Erhear hesitated on letting the boy go at his request and Loren can see that.

“You don’t have to put that dagger away, you can still use it on me, I don’t plan to escape as it's all up to you to kill me or not after I have finished explaining.”

Listening to what Loren said to him, he let go of the boy but still had the dagger out.

“Alright then go on to explain.”

“Thank you, now where was I? Yes, I am becoming a monster. Let's start with what makes me different from my father, mother, half brothers, or anyone else for that matter. I am sure you can already know what I mean Erhear because you felt it.”

Only a second passed before Erhear answered the boy.

“Yes you have a great power dwelling within you and with such power can make a boy like you a threat and fear by every living being.”

“Yeah that is, you see this little boy as a threat because you, Mack, and my parents fear what I would do with such power. Tell me how many paths there are for someone who holds great power to walk.”

“Only two for such a person, one path to do good, the second is to use it for evil.”

“Yes that's correct there are only two but you're wrong at the same time because there are two more paths that have never been added.”

Erhear began to wonder what those two more paths could be, he doesn’t there be more for a person blessed with great power.

“That two-path I speak of is never talked about because no one puts more work into their thought to look and see at the other path there is to walk. The third path is to never use the power this person has simply put if they disappear or die before having the chance to choose to do so.”

“That sounds like more of the right path to picking for a person like that.”

“Yes, I knew you would say that, now for the last one the path that walks between the first two is the path of the pure and the path of evil.”

Erhear attention was now grabbed by the small boy.

“A person who walks the line of good and evil, what are you getting at Loren there, never a person like that in this world that has yet to meet.”

“That right Erhear there never is such a person until now I want to be that person to have the kindness to be there when there are people in need of help and protection. The evilness in me to do what must be done to those who deserve it or don’t to make any who stand in my way beg for mercy on their knees before I take their life.”

Erhear didn’t say a word right at that moment or to say he couldn't find the right to say.

“Tell me Erhear what makes the race of monsters demons evil,” Loren asked, interested to hear what the man's answer would be.

“Hmm, I never put much thought into their race or any race as a matter of fact to make a judgment of them. I have to say the demon race is evil because to wish to be as it brings them enjoyment. Those creatures like to harm other races in the nastiest ways that is what I believe makes them evil.”

Erhear looks at Loren seeing that boy finally make a facial expression, one of a smile.

“That is right they choose to walk the path of evil because it is the only thing that brings enjoyment and knowing those creatures never try to walk different paths because to use more of their intellect to do so, but that doesn't mean there are few rare ones that do like for example there might even be a demon who walk the path to do good.”

“Yet that is impossible that lucky, a highly small chance of that happening.

“That doesn’t mean it can't happen, don't you see there are always possibilities, don’t think.”

Loren had Erhear now think a lot from their talk.

“Let's try another one, a hero, what makes a hero.” Loren began asking another question.

“That one an easy one Loren, what makes a hero is someone willing to fight for the people to help when it is needed and do it without asking for anything in return.”

“Ah that is also correct, but not every person who does a heroic thing makes them truly a hero because they can just be doing it for their benefits like fame, money, or power. No, for someone to truly be called a hero must have a completely pure heart, and yet that is a rare thing to appear because even someone born with such purity must fight forever to keep away the corruption from poisoning them.”

“You're not wrong on that one Loren as I understand what has been said, but still what is the point that has to do with you.”

Loren's smile grows wider as he speaks.

“What this has to do with me is that I want to walk the last path to walk the one between one and two.”

“So that's the path you had picked, but what was the reason behind it for such a 7 boy to make?”

Loren stops smiling and looks up at the sky into the night.

“I pick this path because I must and as you see where I stand, I am the bastard son of a king, my mother is his mistress. I have walked down this path for my benefits and those I care for now and for the future as I know I can make this world fear me, but in return, I will be its protector where no one can do it harm.”

After saying that Loren looked back down to Erhear.

“So what you think still wants to kill me Erhear.” Right when Loren asks him, he just bursts out laughing.

Uncollectible, the Elf man laughed like a mad man for a few minutes until slowly stopping.

“By the gods! I never imagined in my life that I would meet such an interesting and threatening person. Hahaha…. This brings me entertainment to my life Loren. Thank you and you know what, I will not kill you today because I want to see the person that chooses to become, and when that happens we will see if I still want to kill or not.”

Loren smiled again.

“Then I take it,” Loren said, putting a hand up to where Erhear took it, and both shank on it.

“Alright let us begin teaching you necromancy.”
