"I'm sorry if my behavior made you feel that way, Jo. I really didn't have any bad intentions." Bill apologized remorsefully.

"I know. You don't need to apologize." Joana replied quickly. She knew that her confession would make Bill feel very guilty. Joana didn't want Bill to blame himself too much.

"In the future, I want you to be formal only when we are in front of other people. I don't want to lose the only friend I trust," Joana continued.

Bill was stunned for a moment, before finally nodding in agreement to Joana's request.

"Well, if you want it that way," Bill said.

Joana's smile expanded, making Bill's heart even more overwhelmed by guilt. It had been a long time since he had seen his best friend's smile. Bill just didn't think that their friendship would mean so much to Joana. Bill thought there would be no effect at all even if they kept their distance from each other. That turned out to be wrong.
