Belos was a nation just south of Odaria. It wasn't very big; compared with the nations of Earth, it wouldn't have been bigger than Belgium. Officially it was a completely autonomous parliamentary republic.

Everyone in the world knew very well that Belos had nothing autonomous: he depended completely on Odaria to survive. There was also very little democratic: as in Odaria, politicians were elected on the basis of how willing they were to satisfy the wishes of the financial giants. If they weren't, then they didn't go beyond mere candidacy. All the countries bordering Odaria were more or less like this; practically vassal states.

Of all the nations that depended on Odaria, Belos was perhaps the worst offender. More than a nation it was considered a haunt for crime.
