The explosions and roars were so loud they could be heard even from the center of the forest.
To prevent the weaker ones from getting involved, Sobek had ordered Old Li to bring elders, puppies and all those not fit to fight in the thick of the forest, in the fortification erected by Eema. Together the triceratops and the ankylosaurus had brought everyone to safety and were now waiting for the noises to stop.
"This mess gives me chills" Eema murmured as she listened to the distant explosions.
"You don't have to worry" Old Li replied.
"How can you be so calm?"
“I am not at all. But I know that by worrying I would get nothing but make things worse. So it's better to get distracted and wait for news"
Eema sighed, then agreed that the ankylosaurus was right. "Yes, okay" she said, nibbling again on a blade of grass.
Shortly thereafter, however, the explosions ceased. Eema and Old Li raised their heads in the direction of battle, foll
If anyone had decided to pass near the South Sea that day, they would have witnessed an unprecedented sight. The sea water had turned red, so dark that you couldn't look under it. Thousands of corpses of huge ships lay in the water; most of them were submerged, but some protruded from the ocean since the seabed was so covered with wrecks that it was impossible to descend further. Fish and other sea creatures moved frantically through that graveyard of ships, devouring the remains of all the humans who had been aboard. And out of the water some aquatic dinosaurs wandered among the remains of the ships not yet submerged, looking for any survivors. That place would in the future be remembered as the Naval Cemetery and would become a historical place. A monument would have been erected on the nearby cliff, consisting of dozens of tombstones bearing the names of all the soldiers who died that day, or at least those whose identity was known. Treasure hunters would often venture amo
Sobek's announcement was broadcast around the world within minutes. The whole of humanity was waiting to know the results of the war campaign, and as soon as the video was put online it went viral. The media did not hesitate to broadcast it on all their platforms and within half a day there was not a single human being on the planet who had not seen it.The first reaction was panic. When people saw the first few minutes of the video showing the destroyed fleet, they were terrified. Many had not even finished watching the video and had fled to the shelters expecting an attack by the dinosaurs at any moment. But the moment of panic did not last long, and was immediately followed by the most total despair. There were many families who had lost at least one family member in the war. Inside the fleet there were parents, uncles, grandparents, brothers and children, and now they were all dead and did not even have a grave. The families did not even have the opportunity to ret
Of course, Al wasn't really resting. He had simply taken leave to use [Teleportation] to bring himself in front of Sobek. The meeting place was the seashore just in front of the ship cemetery. When he arrived the others were already there. There was Buck, the commander of the assault legion. Al had heard that he had been badly wounded during the battle, but he had fully recovered. There was Carnopo, the army commander. Proud and annoyed as ever, not a single movement could be glimpsed on his face. There was Mazu, the commander of the navy. The huge marine reptile had come close to them thanks to a deep crack carved into the rock and protruded its head from the water to be able to listen. There was Old Li, Sobek's councilor and second-in-command. The ankylosaurus had not participated in the battle, but his advice had been invaluable. There was Rambo, the intelligence commander. The tiny pterosaur was barely visible among those giants and perc
Nero watched placidly the scene that was proposed in front of his screen. “… From now on, we are in a new era. An era where we will all live in the same world, together. Humans and dinosaurs...""Great job, girl… great job" Nero whispered as he sipped a beer. Those videos were obviously not known in the West, as governments blocked communications; but there was no block that could stop Nero.Although he already had an overview of how skilled the girl was, Nero found that he was surprised. Jocelyne had done a lot more than he had imagined. It was clear as the sun that had been plotting with dinosaurs for a long time."Now I understand why you asked me to divulge everything that happens in Beleriard to the rest of the world..." Nero laughed. "A nation where humans and dinosaurs coexist... if humanity were faced with such a spectacle, what face could say it's wrong?"Nero typed some numbers on the keyboard. His computer chirped as the vid
Okasawa High School was one of the most famous and reputable schools in the nation. Even before the unification of the five nations in the Great Republic of Beleriard it had been a very important institution, so much so that students from all cities came to study there. For a long time it had been an elite school: students who paid more, in fact, received better treatment. Those whose parents donated more funds to the institute enjoyed nicer bedrooms, had better meals, could use the bathrooms first, and the teachers were very forgiving in terms of both school progress and behavior towards their peers. In fact, for a long time Okasawa High School had been dominated by gangs of rich students who did what they wanted with the poorest students. The number of suicides was not low due to bullying and there had even been cases of students being sent to hospital for beatings. But this, unfortunately, was normal in the old Odaria, and not only had no one done anything to change
Pauline Mackenzie, Queen of the Prettania Kingdom, was sitting calmly on a seat in her private plane; she normally would work at that time, but she was neither signing papers nor reading a report nor doing anything else she did on a daily basis. She was simply leaning against the window and looking at the horizon. The queen wasn't very old; she was already sixty, but she wore them very well. Today, however, she seemed aged at least twenty years. Her body seemed to have been completely drained of all energy.A few seats beyond her sat a blonde woman, who had been observing her for a while. Unlike the queen, she was quite young, but she too seemed to have been deprived of vital energy. After a long moment of silence, she got up and walked over to Pauline. "Your Majesty" she said as soon as she was beside him. “You have nothing to blame. You have done everything possible""Don't try to console me, Grace"“I'm not doing this, I'm speaking honestly
"That idiot Croft made it too big this time" Darius grumbled.Liam said nothing. He just leaned against the wall and looked at the floor. Darius couldn't blame him.Liam had admired Croft for a good part of his life and only recently had he realized how traitorous and greedy for fame he could be. Despite his betrayal a year ago, he had long hoped that he would stop before it was too late. Instead, he now he realized how wrong he was.Darius sighed. “If it consoles you, your teacher was right. If it hadn't been him it would have been someone else. If there is one thing that we humans are good at doing is self-destruct""We should have done something first" Grace murmured. “The fault lies with all of us. We all had the responsibility to stop this disaster"“Now you're talking nonsense, Grace. We had no chance of stopping all this""No, it isn't true. We could have done it. Even a small gesture could have had enormous conseque
"Are you nervous, president?"Jocelyne let out a sigh. “This isn't the first time that I have spoken to the head of state of a foreign country, Abe. I know what I do, don't worry""But it is the first time that someone expressly requests to...""I know it. Now shut up""But…""Abe, don't bother the president" Jackson stopped him with a laugh. "If you're so obsessive with Dariela too, I'm surprised she hasn't cut your balls off yet"Abe grunted, then fell silent, but pouted anyway, which Jocelyne found quite amusing. However, she made an effort not to laugh out of respect for her defense minister. To avoid bursting out laughing in his face, he turned his back on him and looked back at the airstrip where Queen Mackenzie's private plane would land within minutes. In a way, Abe was right: she was a little nervous, but certainly not because he had to meet another head of state. She was nervous for other reasons, which Abe obvi
