Am I WORTHY?

"I am Varro Davidson. I was the one who saved you when you were floating down the river, Daren!" said Mr. Varro calmly.

"In the river?" Daren tried hard to remember, but he felt his head hurt more and more. He held his head, trying to focus on Mr. Varro's words.

"I... I don't remember it," Daren muttered. "What just happened to me? Did I really get washed away in the river?" Daren felt confused, trying to retrieve memories that felt increasingly distant.

"Yes, Daren. You were lost in the river and almost drowned. I found you and brought you to this hospital," Mr. Varro explained.

"You just woke up from a week-long coma, so don't force yourself to remember everything at once," Mr. Varro continued.

Hearing this explanation, Daren began to feel calm. He thanked God for giving him the chance to live. Through the help of Mr. Varro, he was saved from death. Daren tried to remember what happened before he was washed away.

Slowly, images of the time he met Charlie, his wife's stepfather, began to appear in his mind. "Why did I meet him? What does this have to do with me? And how did I end up in the river?" thought Daren, feeling the worry begin to creep back in.

"I remember now," Daren muttered, looking up at Mr. Varro. "I met Charlie, my wife's stepfather. He drugged me, then battered me before throwing me into the river," Daren pondered, trying to understand the reason behind the atrocity that had befallen him.

"What makes him hate me so much? Is there something to hide, and is he trying to cover up the truth?" Daren wondered to himself.

Mr. Varro nodded sympathetically, "Pity your fate, Daren. But fortunately, I found you in time. Now, the most important thing is for you to rest and recuperate. Don't think too much about the things that have happened. Focus on your recovery."

Hearing Mr. Varro's words, Daren felt a stirring in his heart. He promised himself that after he recovered, he would find out the reason behind Charlie's cruel actions and reveal the truth that had been hidden.

"Thank you, Mr. Varro," Daren said in a weak voice, "if I hadn't been saved by you, I'd probably be dead!"

Mr. Varro only replied with a smile.

"I will fight this fear and uncover the truth. I will not let this evil win. I'm increasingly convinced that Charlie had something to do with his wife's death," Daren whispered.

Mr. Varro stroked Daren's shoulder gently. "Of course, Daren. I will help you in any way I can. For now, you should focus on your recovery."

Daren nodded, feeling lucky to have met and been saved by Mr. Varro.

"I swear! I will unravel the mystery of Vivian's death for the sake of my good name!" Daren said silently.

***

After a few days of Daren waking up from his coma, the doctor allowed Daren to go home.

Mr. Varro immediately invited Daren to his magnificent palace-like residence. Upon arrival, Daren was surprised to see servants and bodyguards bowing to him as he entered Mr. Varro's palatial residence.

"Welcome, Young Master Daren," one of the servants said politely.

Mr. Varro smiled at the servants and bodyguards. He then invited Daren into his residence.

Daren's eyes traveled to every corner of the mansion. He felt like he was in a dream, never expecting to set foot in a place like this.

"Is this all really real? Or am I dreaming?" Daren muttered to himself.

"Have a seat, son," said Mr. Varro.

Daren nodded and sat down on the soft sofa; even the room looked elegant. "Excuse me, Mr. Varro, why do they all call me Young Master?" asked Daren curiously.

Mr. Varro smiled, "I'll explain everything, Daren," Mr. Varro said as he took a sip from his glass of wine.

"So you see, when you were a baby, I was forced to put you in an orphanage," Mr. Varro explained.

"What do you mean, sir? Sorry, I'm really confused." Daren still couldn't quite digest what Mr. Varro was saying.

"Daren, your mother, she was a very beautiful woman. But unfortunately, she was shot to death by a man who used to love her very much. He wanted to kidnap your mother, but she fought back to protect you." Slowly, Mr. Varro told him everything.

Daren was shocked to hear the story; his mind could not accept this fact.

"What do you mean, sir? So I-?" Daren was still trying to digest every word he had just heard.

Mr. Varro nodded. "Yes, Daren. You are my son, the heir to the throne that I have kept hidden for your safety."

Daren stared at Mr. Varro with a confused look. He really still couldn't believe it. It seemed so unbelievable.

"Do I deserve to be a Young Master with the case of Vivian's death allegedly poisoned by me?" Daren questioned himself silently.

Then Daren stared at Mr. Varro with an unbelievable gaze, feeling a wave of emotions rushing through his mind.

"But why are you telling me this now?" he asked, trying to control the emotions that were beginning to surge.

"Because now you are an adult, and things are starting to get safer," Mr. Varro replied gently. "I want you to know where you come from, and just so you know, son. Even though I left you at the orphanage, I always monitored you from a distance. I think now is a good time for you to know the truth."

Daren still looked confused by all the information he had just received. He looked down, trying to understand what Mr. Varro had just revealed.

Mr. Varro took out a sheet of DNA test results from his pocket.

"Here, take this," Mr. Varro said, showing Daren the DNA test results, "I had a DNA test done while you were in a coma. These results show that we are indeed related as father and son."

Daren stared at the DNA test results in confusion, not knowing how to react.

"So, I'm really your son?" asked Daren after reading the DNA test results.

"Yes, Daren, you are indeed my son. If you still have doubts, you can ask the owner of the orphanage where you grew up," said Mr. Varro, smiling. "And now, you must call me father."

"Father? I have to call you father?"

Mr. Varro patted Daren gently on the shoulder. "Yes, because you are my son, Daren. Now, you are the rightful heir to my wealth. I want you to learn to manage this business so that one day you can continue what I have done."

Daren nodded slowly, trying to accept the new reality he had to face. He felt unprepared for the new responsibilities of being the heir to the Varro Davidson fortune.

"Father," Daren said hesitantly, "I'm still not sure about all this. I need time to think and adjust."

Mr. Varro smiled gently, understanding Daren's confusion. "Of course, my son. Father will give you the time you need. However, believe me, all the wealth I have is yours. I will always be by your side, guiding you in every step you take."

Daren smiled slightly, feeling a little relieved to hear the support of Mr. Varro, who turned out to be his real father. He knew that the road ahead would be difficult and challenging.

"Yes, Father," Daren said, grasping Mr. Varro's hand tightly.

Mr. Varro let out a long sigh as he looked at his son sitting next to him. He knew that Daren's success as the leader of the Davidson Group would one day have to be coupled with the ability to protect himself from enemy threats.

"My son, it is time for you to learn martial arts. I don't want you to become an easy target for those who want to bring you down," Varro said in a stern tone.

Daren looked at his father with a confused expression. "Self-defense, Father? Why do I have to learn that? Don't you have plenty of good bodyguards already?"

Mr. Varro shook his head. "The bodyguards I have are good, but they won't always be by your side. If you're ever in danger, at least you can protect yourself."

Daren sighed, remembering the way the police had treated him during his interrogation, recalling the way he had been battered in detention. In fact, Charlie had also made him almost want to die.

"Alright, Dad. I'll learn martial arts, as long as it makes me stronger and better prepared for any challenge," Daren said.

Mr. Varro smiled, satisfied with Daren's decision. "I have found the right teacher to teach you. He is a martial arts expert, and I'm sure he can help you become tougher."

After that, Daren slowly began to learn his father's business. Then, he would start learning martial arts. However, there was one thing that Daren had forgotten at the moment. That was the case of the late Vivian's death that was dragging down his reputation.

"Excuse me, Mr. Daren, you're requested to go to the living room now," one of the maids ordered as Daren lounged on the balcony.

Daren immediately rushed to the living room, where his father was.

However, there was one person sitting next to his father who made Daren's eyeballs round perfectly. Of course, Daren recognized the person in the police uniform.

"How do you do, Young Master Daren," the man said, smiling kindly at Daren. Normally, Daren found the man's face to be both fierce and sinister, his eyes always sharp.

"Inspector Barra, why are you here?" asked Daren without answering the man's question.
