Chapter 101: "Mourning before Morning"

Inside Gerald William's grand mansion, the atmosphere was heavy with tension.

In a dark room at the far end of the hall, Jesse Harp sat on the floor, a bottle of alcohol in her hand. Her makeup was smeared, mascara was streaking down her cheeks, and her hair was in disarray.

"Marcus..." she muttered softly.

Just thinking of his face made her eyes well up with tears.

Her heart broke with a sense of regret and longing for what might have been if circumstances had been different.

If only she had met Marcus first, she wondered if she would be the happiest.

"I know we weren't meant to be, but I didn't expect you'd go away from me like this," she sobbed.

She chugged the alcohol and threw the bottle at the huge wedding portrait on her wall.

Glaring at Gerald's image in the portrait, she yelled, "You only threatened my previous lovers. Why now kill the one I truly love?" She cried loudly, feeling suffocated.

Even if she suspected Gerald behind Marcus's death, she couldn't punish him at all,
