Dexter used all his might to struggle in the grip of the monster, suddenly he opened the pathway in his body to allow his talent to flow.

[Skill unlocked: Raging thunder (E-)]

[Proficiency: 0%]

[Capabilities: a powerful lightening outburst that generate a concussion force that results to a shockwave and a powerful lightning discharge]

[Damage effect: 12%]

[Skill summons upon calling its name]

‘Perfect timing’

“Raging thunder!”

*Kaboom!*

A powerful lightning disrupted Dexter's body, exploding in an instant and a concussion force was made to shatter the arm of the golem and Dexter was set free. He fell down and landed on his feet.

“The system didn't send me here unarmed afterall” he grinned.

[MP - 5]

‘damn, my mp was ten, that means that skill drained half of my mp, then I can only use it one more time’

[Time left: 00:03:13]

‘Three minutes left, I just need to survive a little bit longer, either I keep running or I find a way to kill this thing’

Dexter then noticed the golem was regenerating his damaged arm with sand.

“Damnit, the second option isn't so bad, but this thing can regenerate. There must be some way to kill it, I just need to find it”

[Golems can only be killed by destroying their heart] the system popped up.

“A heart? How do I find it?” Dexter studied the golem carefully and saw a red glowing gem in his chest.

‘That must be it' he smiled devilishly.

The golem had finished regenerating then it hurled his arm at Dexter. Dexter hoped just in time to climb on his arm and ran on top of its solidified sandy skin.

The golem saw him running in its arm and he flung its arm forcefully and Dexter was thrown in the air.

“Ahh!” He screamed, then began to fall back with great force.

[Time left: 00:59:54]

“One minute left, I need to make the best out of this time. The system gave me two alternatives to complete this mission. Either I keep running and avoiding the monster or face it and kill it like a true hunter. And I'll choose to kill it anytime!”

Dexter controlled his fall, and straightened his legs and body horizontally so he flew straight to the chest of the golem.

Almost reaching the golem’s heart, he is readying to summon his skill.

“Raging thunder!”

He punched with his right fist and an outburst of electrified energy surged around his fist piercing straight in the golem's heart as it shattered the gem to pieces.

“Graaaagh!” The golem cried out as it finally exploded, back into a normal sand.

Dexter fell flat on the desert.

[Time left:00:00:00]

“I did it!”

“What, a new talent? How so sudden, and it seems like the formal Lightening talent wasn't my actual talent. But this new one Necromancy is. I don't know how this is even possible, but no mage can acquire more than two Talents, and I've never heard of this talent before. Let's see what it does. And it also looks like new categories have been added to the system, like the Sp.”

[Player can now return to the Core and rest for level 2 mission]

“Huh!”

That same portal appeared again and Dexter walked in returning back to the Core.

Immediately he walked in and all his health was restored.

“I feel so replenish, I guess I can now freely check out my new Talent and skills”

[Original Talent - Necromancy(D-)]

Description: Allows the user to control the energies of the dead at will, either using them for boosting their attacks or for defending purposes.

[Other information will be added as Player proceed in leveling up]

‘Hmm, so it's a power relating to the dead, just as I thought, let's check out the skills attached to it's

[Skills under the talent Necromancy]

- Skill absorbing (D-)

Description: allows the user to freely absorb the skills of the enemies killed by him.

Capabilities: able to imitate the skill absorbed from the dead enemy.

Damage effect: the damage is based on the skill absorbed from the dead enemy.

- Regeneration (D-)

Description: allows users to regenerate from injuries by simply absorbing the energies of the dead enemies.

Capabilities: Regeneration allows users to increase stamina at 5% and HP at 8 %.

Damage effect: none

Side effects: drains 30% of users MP.

“Wow, not bad, this is awesome. A Mage hunter trains for a lifetime before they could upgrade to a higher rank, and at highest, an average mage hunter could only upgrade once in their entire lifetime, the ones who were born with higher grades are fortunate, while the ones with lower grades had to train harder and most times never experience a grade upgrade. But this system is like a cheat in the hunter world, this could come in handy”

Dexter swiped the system and tapped on his item.

[Item type - Demon dagger (D-)]

[Description - a dagger crafted from the solidified blood of a demon.

[Capabilities(1) - the dagger is sharp enough to penetrate through steel if enough pressure is applied. (2)- it can penetrate through magical items also. (3) it increases the speed of the user by 3% every minute.

Damage effect: 17% damage is caused upon the enemy.

Side effect: decreases stamina at 0.3% every minute when in use.

“I can finally have a weapon on my own” Dexter then draws out the weapon from the inventory, it was a dark reddish dagger with very sharp ends.

“I wonder how much this would cause in the real world. Speaking of that, when can I return home and how long have I been here.”

Dexter became worried, he moved to and fro, then he remembered the AI voice that introduced herself as his system guardian.

“Maybe that AI can help, I wonder why it's silent now”

“Huhm, Miss AI can you come out, I need your help.”

‘hmm no voice yet’

“Miss sidekick of my system, system guardian?” Still no voice.

‘I guess I need to call her name before it would appear’

“Eos?” He called and immediately the voice responded.

“Welcome back to the core Dexter, and I applaud you for completing the level 1 mission”

“Don't applaud me, you lied to me. You said I would return back to earth if I complete the penalty task, but that didn't happen” Dexter enraged.

“I'm sorry if that's how you feel. But the system begins with a trial course with all new players, and if you weren't able to complete the penalty task or gave up, you would have returned to earth and would lose the system. But your strong will made you not to gave up despite how tired and worn out you were, making the system accept you as a player”

“Oh really? So even the kobolds that attacked my neighborhood were all caused by the system to test my will?”

“Correct”

“I can't believe how selfish this system is, it puts lives in danger just to make a stupid point. Whatever, how long have I been on earth?” Dexter asked.

“You've been here for 48 hours and compared to Earth's timeframe that's about 2 hours”

“The hell! You mean all this time I've spent here is just 2 hours on earth?” Dexter asked unbelievably.

“Correct”

[Level 2 mission commencing in 04:00:00]

[Player must rest until the time expires]

“Damnit another mission”

All of a sudden a bed appeared, it was a bed made for a single person, not very comfortable with a white bed sheet spread on top and a pillow.

“Nice”

Dexter said heading straight to the bed and hoped on it, he wasn't used to sleeping on a large and fancy bed after all, this was super comfortable to him.

Dexter tried to fall asleep but his mind kept imagining how it was and the sudden arrival of this mystery system. Could it be that he could take these new talents and skills back to earth or are they only useful in the systems missions? Could he also take his new weapon back?

So many things run down his mind.

He wondered how everyone would react when they found out he's no longer the Talentless awakener, but now a mage with two talents. If only his ex-girlfriend could see him now.

    THE END

I stood at the edge of what remained of the battlefield, staring at the ruins of the universe I had fought to save. The stars were slowly beginning to reappear in the dark void, like candles relighting after a storm. My body ached in ways I couldn’t describe, every muscle screaming in protest after the battle with the Abyssal Sovereign. But I was alive. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, I allowed myself to breathe. The weight of the universe—the literal universe—was no longer crushing me. Still, the victory felt hollow as I looked around at the destruction left behind. Planets had been reduced to dust. Civilizations, wiped out in the blink of an eye.It was up to me now. The system’s voice echoed faintly in my mind, its presence weaker but still there."Rebuilding Protocol Activated. Dexter tumbled through the void, his senses overwhelmed by the sensation of freefall. Darkness engulfed him until, with a bone-jarring impact, he landed on an obsidian platform. He groaned, pushing himself to his feet, only to find himself in an enormous chamber illuminated by swirling energy—red, black, and violet hues pulsated like a heartbeat. At the center of the room stood The Architect, their mask now removed to reveal an unnervingly calm face. Their eyes burned with a malevolent light as they addressed Dexter.“You’ve impressed me, Dexter. Few have made it this far. But you’ve only scratched the surface of my designs.”Dexter tightened his fists. “Enough talk. This ends now.”The Architect smiled, their demeanor unsettlingly serene. “Oh, it will end. But not in the way you think. You’ve been a mere pawn in this game, and it’s time to introduce the king.”The chamber shook violently. The swirling energy began to coalesce into a single, blinding point above them. Dexter shielded

The helicopter ride was a brief reprieve from the chaos they had just escaped, but the tension in the air was palpable. Lila worked furiously on her tablet, attempting to decrypt the data drive, while Marcus cleaned and inspected his weapons. Dexter sat in silence, his fists still clenched, staring out at the dark expanse below.“Anything?” Marcus asked Lila, breaking the heavy silence.“It’s encrypted six ways to Sunday,” Lila replied, her voice taut with frustration. “Whoever set this up didn’t want it cracked.”Dexter’s voice was calm but firm. “We’ve faced worse. Keep at it.”Lila nodded, determination etched on her face. “I’ll need time, but I’ll get it.”The helicopter touched down at a safehouse several miles from the smoldering remains of the Blackwell compound. It was a nondescript building, tucked away in a dense forest and surrounded by state-of-the-art security measures. As they entered, the weight of their mission pressed heavily on them.Inside, the safehouse was surpris

The team sprinted through the collapsing compound, the air thick with smoke and the deafening roar of explosions. Alarms blared, and the ground beneath their feet trembled with each detonation. The Architect's forces weren't just retreating—they were ensuring the base was destroyed, leaving no evidence behind.Dexter led the charge, his enhanced reflexes allowing him to dodge falling debris and navigate through the chaos. Behind him, Marcus kept pace, covering their rear with precision shots that took down pursuing guards. Lila and the rest of the team followed closely, their expressions a mix of urgency and determination.“Extraction point is two clicks east,” Lila shouted over the noise, her voice crackling in Dexter's earpiece. “But we’ve got a problem. Drones are back online, and they’re swarming the area.”Dexter gritted his teeth. “Then we take them out. Keep moving!”As they emerged from the main structure into the open, the sight that greeted them was grim. A fleet of aerial d

The sun was still low on the horizon when the team arrived at the edge of the target area, hidden by a dense line of trees overlooking the sprawling fortress. Blackwell’s main base was far more fortified than anticipated. Towering concrete walls surrounded the compound, with razor wire coiled along the top and watchtowers armed with automated turrets and spotlights that swept the area in precise intervals. Beyond the walls, armed guards patrolled in squads, each equipped with cutting-edge gear.Dexter crouched behind a cluster of shrubs, his sharp eyes scanning the compound. Lila's voice crackled in his earpiece. “Thermal imaging confirms over a hundred hostiles inside, with reinforcements stationed in nearby barracks. The Architect has upped the ante. There’s heavy artillery on the north and west sides, and drones patrolling the airspace.”Marcus, crouched beside him, muttered, “This isn’t a base—it’s a fortress. The cold night air clung to the dense forest as Dexter and his team made their retreat from the captured facility. Their convoy was waiting at a safe distance, hidden under the cover of thick trees and underbrush. Inside the SUVs, the tension was palpable. Kane and his accomplice were restrained, their wrists bound tightly with reinforced cuffs, their mouths gagged to prevent any further attempts at manipulation.Marcus sat beside Dexter in the lead vehicle, his brows furrowed in thought. “The Architect… If Kane’s not bluffing, this changes everything. They’ve already infiltrated deep enough to create chaos on multiple fronts. It’s not just about us anymore.”Dexter leaned back in his seat, his mind racing. “We’ll analyze the data we pulled from the servers. Somewhere in there is a thread we can follow. The night air was colder than usual, a bitter chill that settled deep into the bones. Dexter stood in the middle of his personal training hall, a vast expanse filled with state-of-the-art equipment, combat dummies, and reinforced walls to withstand even the most destructive attacks. His body glistened with sweat, his chest rising and falling with each labored breath. The session had been grueling, but it wasn’t enough to quiet his mind.He hurled a weighted training dummy across the room with ease, watching it crash against the wall. The frustration of Evangeline slipping through his fingers and the looming threat of Blackwell gnawed at him like a festering wound. He couldn’t afford mistakes, not now. His world was one misstep away from collapsing, and he wouldn’t allow that to happen.Marcus entered the room cautiously, knowing better than to interrupt during these moments. “We’ve got updates,” he said, his tone low but urgent.Dexter didn’t turn to face him. “Talk.”“Evangeline hasn

The rain poured heavily, drumming against the windows of the estate like a relentless cadence. Dexter stood in his study, staring at the storm outside, lost in thought. The world beyond the glass was a blur of darkness and streaks of water, but it mirrored the tempest brewing within him. The silence of the estate was only broken by the occasional crack of thunder, but it did little to distract him from the news Marcus had delivered earlier.Blackwell’s desperation wasn’t just a gamble—it was a declaration of war. And wars, Dexter knew, were won not just by strength but by foresight. The door creaked open behind him, and Marcus entered without preamble. His coat was damp from the rain, and a folder was tucked under his arm. He placed it on the desk and tapped it lightly."Updates," Marcus said, his tone brisk.
