Chapter 113

Dexter sat in his room later that night, the events of the day playing on repeat in his mind—the fight with the bullies, the mission from the Core, and the bounty Dead Skull placed on his head. His knuckles were still sore from the confrontation earlier, and now he felt the looming weight of danger everywhere. He cracked his neck, trying to release some tension, but it did little good.

His system buzzed softly, and a familiar prompt appeared in the corner of his vision.

[Reminder: Infiltrate the Syndicate. Priority Mission.]

With a sigh, Dexter stood, stretched, and grabbed his gear. He knew the mission was dangerous, but there wasn’t much of a choice. If Dead Skull’s network grew unchecked, not only would Dexter’s life be in danger, but the entire city—and possibly the world—could face the consequences.

"Better get started," he muttered to himself, strapping his daggers to his belt.
