Chapter 97

As they collected the last of the data and prepared to leave, a loud crash echoed through the chamber. The walls trembled as a group of Syndicate reinforcements stormed in, weapons drawn and eyes filled with fury.

“There they are!” one of the guards shouted, pointing at them. “Get them!”

“Run!” Dexter yelled, grabbing the artifact and dashing toward the exit.

They bolted through the chamber, the sound of heavy boots pounding behind them. Dexter could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins, propelling him forward. Henry and Charlotte were right on his heels, urgency driving them as they navigated the twisting corridors.

“Left!” Dexter shouted, veering into a side passage. “We need to lose them!”

They rounded the corner just as a hail of gunfire erupted behind them, bullets ricocheting off the stone walls. Dexter’s heart raced as he ducked low, narrowly avoiding the deadly barrage.
