Clover shook his head to get out of his dazed state, then he looked towards Arya, who avoided meeting his eyes due to guilt. Speechless, Clover could only stand up from the ground before making his way back to his original position.
Seeing as her big brother was making his way towards her with an expressionless look on his face, Arya started to panic.
Taking a few steps back before stopping, Arya tried to muster up her courage as she said to Clover.
"What do you think you're doing, big brother? Are you going to hit me?" Arya's voice trembled as she asked this, but Clover did not answer. Instead, he continued walking silently towards her.
Now, Arya had a trace of fear in her heart and she was reminded that although her big brother was very caring and doted on her and Verna a lot, he could be unreasonably strict at times.
Remembering those times, Arya tried to stand her ground.
"Don't go too far, big brother. You can't hit me because of this, it was only an accident. And besides, you did not get hurt so there's no need to take it so seriously."
Clover still did not answer Arya. In fact, he even raised his hands, reaching for her head as he got closer to Arya. Seeing clover's hand making its way towards her as if he was really going to hit her, Arya stood rooted on the spot in fear and terror. There was an imposing aura that surrounded Clover, making him seem bigger and more terrifying than he really was.
Even Verna, who was the one that always came forward to mediate between her siblings when they were having a row, could not bring herself to step forward this time. The two of them really thought that Clover was angry and was about to get physical with them, like how he used to when they misbehaved and disobeyed him as he raised them.
It was like a lifetime had passed in those short few seconds.
For Immortals like Clover and his sisters who had such long lives, their concept of time was a bit different. Most of the time, a few years could feel like only days to Arya and Verna, and sometimes even a few minutes could make them feel as if a lifetime had already gone by. This was how it was for Arya and Verna as they waited for Clover's hands to land heavily on them.
But just when they were expecting to feel pain landing on them as well as hear the resounding slap of Clover's hands landing on them, Arya only felt a soft and warm feeling on her head from where Clover placed his hand.
Opening her tightly shut eyes and looking up at clover, Arya could a warm smile on clover's face as he looked down on her with love in his eyes.
Right now, the imposing aura that had surrounded Clover as he was making his way to Arya was no longer there, and instead, there was a bright halo of love and warmth that melted the fear in Arya's heart and softened her body, filling her whole being with the love of her brother.
Even Verna, who was a little distance away, was feeling what Arya was feeling...
The twin sisters from birth had been born with a unique innate trait that connected them together, making them feel exactly what the other was feeling.
With this innate trait, Arya and Verna could feel each other's existence, no matter how far away from each other they were. At the same time, they were able to know what the other twin was going through and feeling as well as know their innermost thoughts.
This was the closest relationship that anybody could ever possess, and the twins had grown up in this way. Although some people may find it a burden to have another consciousness that was constantly connected to you and feeling everything you did, Arya and Verna did not feel this way about this trait and they rather quite enjoyed knowing that they would never be alone.
Right now, with this innate trait between them, it allowed both Arya and Verna to feel Clover's love for them.
Looking down at his lovely sister, Clover said to Arya gently, "You should be more careful in controlling your strength next time you hear me. You could have injured yourself. Look, your palms are already bruised after hitting me with so much force."
"I'm sorry for hurting you with this body of mine. If I had known you were going to hit me, I would have lowered my defense so that you wouldn't have to suffer like this. You don't have to worry. Next time, whenever I am with you two, I will always make sure to disperse my powers so that you can be comfortable hitting me whenever."
Hearing Clover's words, Arya suddenly felt a choking feeling in her chest. She, like a ball of emotion, was building inside her that she wanted to let out but didn't dare to. Verna, who was by the side, was also feeling the same.
Trying very hard to suppress the sudden rush of emotions, Arya and Verna could feel their eyes start to water as tears built up, threatening to break out in a flood.
It was said that the tears of an Immortal were like the dew of the stars and that they could heal all the wounds of a mortal and bring a sinless child who was on the brink of death to life.
Right now, Arya and Verna's eyes, which shone like stars, glistened with sparkling midnight dew.
Pulling his sisters to his side, Clover lightly brushed his fingers across their eyes and removed the offending moisture that threatened to ruin their pretty faces.
Clover then said, "You girls shouldn't be crying, as it will make your face puffy. Then you really wouldn't be able to get married in the future and you'll have to stay with me forever."
At these words, Arya and Verna suddenly snorted uncontrollably as they tried to suppress the laugh that had unexpectedly assaulted them.
Raising their head to look at Clover with grievance, the twins immediately complained, "Arrgh... big brother is still bullying us. Baddie! Meanie!"
"Hahaha!!!" Clover laughed out loud in happiness and delight.
He really enjoyed teasing his little sisters very much.
At this moment, Arya suddenly said to Clover haughtily, "Big brother is a bad man and I won't believe a single word he says. As for you saying you would disperse your power so that I could hit you better. Who asked you to do that?"
"Listen, you'd better not think of doing that whenever I am around. In fact, I want to make your defense even stronger so that I can beat you up mercilessly. When I am finally able to break through big brother's defense, then it means that I am stronger than big brother and then you will have to listen to everything I tell you. Is that clear?"
Nodding his head happily, Clover agreed.
"Indeed, I have heard your command and I accept your challenge. Let's see how long it will take you to grow stronger than me."
Humph!
Arya snorted, but she did not say anything else. In her heart, Arya was feeling very sweet inside. She knew that this was how her big brother was.
It was her big brother Clover that had taken care of her and her sister Verna, who had raised them single-handedly when their parents had died when they were little. It was her big brother, Clover, who had protected them and taught them everything they knew, and he would never let anything bad happen to them.
Even now, when Arya had accidentally hurt him, even though Clover had not been hurt, instead of being angry at her, her big brother Clover had instead been worried that Arya had hurt herself from hitting him. That was just how her big brother was, and it was the reason why Arya and Verna loved him so much.
As Arya and Verna were reflecting on their feelings for their big brother, Clover finally stopped laughing and finally looked at his twin sisters.
Clover asked, "Okay then, now that everything has been settled, are you finally going to tell me the reason you were looking for me? I'm sure it wasn't simply because you wanted me to come and eat, was it? If that was all, you would have left my meal out for me to eat later when I woke up on my own. You've never disturbed me before, just for something like this tell me, what is the matter."
Suddenly remembering their reason for coming to find clover, Arya and Verna's faces suddenly became solemn. Their smiles vanished, and they said to clover seriously.
"Big brother Clover, the reason we were looking for you is that the elders of the clan have passed down a summon for you to meet them at the lighthouse. They want you to get there as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Clover's face became grave...
As soon as he had seen the solemn looks on Arya's and Verna's faces, Clover had known that something was not right and indeed, he had been correct. But he had not expected it to be as serious as this.
The situation turned out to be more serious than he imagined.
Right now, the worst thing that Clover could have ever expected to hear was that he was being summoned to the lighthouse. That is because it meant that it was finally time for him to pay for his crimes!
The Universe Immortal Clan originated from a very special upper realm known simply as {The Observatory}. This upper realm is special due to a number of reasons. One of these reasons is that compared to other upper realms in the boundless universe, the size of the observatory is unbelievably small. The various realms in the universe are like small pocket universes themselves that are scattered throughout the main universe. These small pocket universes, otherwise known as realms, contain everything that the main universe has, with only a few differences. These differences are mainly in the predominant elements of law that make up the realm. Most of the time, the thing that differentiates one realm from another is exactly the kind of law element that is predominant in that realm. It could be that it is the law element of fire that takes precedence. In such a realm, there would be many natural beings and treasures that are born with a great affinity to the element o
Clover reminisced as he was escorted into the main hall. One hundred years...It had been one hundred years since Clover had lost his parents on that fateful day. But to Clover, it was like it had happened yesterday.Throughout these hundred years, Clover had been focused on raising his sisters, as that was the only way he could numb himself from the pain.It was the only thing that could distract Clover from having thoughts of revenge.Clover did not hate his clansmen for exiling him or for labeling him with the title of a traitor who had caused the deaths of his parents. As far as Clover was concerned, this title was very apt and completely justified. The only person Clover blamed for his parent's death was himself... that and the ghouls who had attacked them on that day.Still, although Clover felt responsible for his parents' death, it was not to the extent that he wished to die or something like that. The only thing clover felt w
Inside the [Break Room], Clover was standing right in the middle of a narrow circular platform. Much like the witness stand in a courtroom, the circular platform was placed at the center of the entire grand hall. Surrounding it were high stands arranged in concentric circles, with the inner stands being lower than the outer ones. The [Break Room] was the place where all trials in the Universe Immortal Clan were held. There not many times where the [Break Room] had the chance to be used in the past. Because of how small the Universe Immortal Clan was and how few members there were in the clan, all the Universe Immortals were very tightly united. There were not many cases that were serious enough to deserve a trial in the [Break Room]. Clover's trial was the first in more than a thousand years. For such a serious case concerning the number one treasure of the Universe Immortal Clan, it was natural that it would be held in the [Break Room].On normal days, t
Clover was facing trial before the eyes of every living being in The Observatory. Before thousands of universe immortals and countless other living creatures that inhabit The Observatory, Clover was going to be sentenced. In a corner of the observatory, on a small modified asteroid, Clover's sisters, Arya and Verna looked up at the sky towards their big brother who was standing trial and they could not help but sob.Today, when they had woken Clover up and told him that he was asked to go to the lighthouse, the sisters at that time already had a feeling this was what was going to happen.Ever since the sisters, Arya, and Verna were old enough to understand a little of how the world worked, they had already understood that their brother who had taken care of them and loved them in the place of their parents was basically a convicted felon waiting for his sentence to be passed out.Throughout their childhood, the sisters had had to deal with others l
The trial continued...The elder immortal who had been speaking finally reached the final point of his speech. He immediately started to announce Clover's sentence."In consideration of various events leading to the loss of the Obelisk and the deaths of Casimir and Pricilla Newell, Clover Newell has been pardoned and would be exempted from having his soul and life force extracted from him.""But... although Clover Newell has been pardoned, a crime cannot go unpunished. In order to atone for his crimes, Clover Newell will hereby be exiled from this realm never to step foot inside ever again until such a time comes when he is able to find and retrieve the obelisk and return it to its rightful place.""This is the final verdict and it will become effective immediately starting down."Following those words, the large bronze bell... Big Ben... rang loudly once more.Once again, the entire observatory was thrown into an uproar.Every living
"Big sis Ursula... what are you doing here?""What did you mean by what you said?"Why are you preventing us from going to save big brother?"Verna immediately shot off a torrent of questions at the lady who had appeared in the garden. This lady had a head full of golden hair that flowed beautifully like a clear stream down a brook. Her face was angular and had sharp contours that were usually found in a man giving her a handsome and valiant look. Her eyes were a clear blue, and they sparkled like stars, much like how the sister's eyes did. This lady looked to be in her late teens and although her face was not cold, there was a certain dignified aura about her that gave her a confident look. Standing at the entrance of the garden, this lady exuded a comfortable feeling that would make one relax at the mere sight of her.Unfortunately, the sisters were not in the right mood to relax. Their big brother had just been given an unfair sent
Verna collected the letter from Ursula, and both she and Arya read it together. At the first glance, the twins were able to confirm that it was indeed their big brother Clover who had written this letter. The handwriting on the letter was definitely his own, and there were no signs of forgery. Aside from that, the twins were also able to recognize the specific coded words that one three of them used when communicating with each other. These coded words had been developed using a specific series of weirdly sounding words that the sisters uttered when they had still been babies. At first, it had only been a prank that Clover had come up with to tease his sisters, but in the end; it developed into a secret code the siblings used to communicate in secret. There was nobody other than the three of them who should be aware of what these weird words meant. Others would simply take it as words of endearment the siblings used to show their love, much like how a boy may ca
Click! With a clear clicking sound, Ursula locked the large crystal gate of the Newell residence on the small asteroid. On both sides of Ursula were the twins, and they each had a look of reluctance on their faces as they started at the locked gate.Arya and Verna had spent all their lives growing up in this small residence with their big brother, Clover, and it was the only place that they had a close connection to. Everywhere else in the small observatory was alien and completely foreign to them. It was natural that they would be reluctant to leave this place to start living somewhere else. Especially when their brother would not be there with them. But thinking about the letter Clover had left for them and his instructions that were secretly written inside, the twins managed to perk up and they became resolute.Thinking of the future, Arya and Verna were no longer as reluctant to leave as before. Instead, they started to look forward to their ne
