Chapter 4

Geni comes from a wealthy family, one of the sponsors of the Academy. However, she was just an unwanted bastard child. Unlike her sister, the girl was cherished and loved.

Surprisingly, Geni didn't feel jealous or resentful. Instead, she loved her as much as any other sister, if not more.

Perhaps because of Geni's affection, her sister helped Geni get into the Academy. She became a professor who was famous for her kind-hearted nature. Also, the reason why Geni became the guardian of the infirmary was to be able to visit her sister or to heal the notable witches who couldn't heal themselves.

This was what Samuel knew.

As for her sister, she was on the second level, one level above Samuel. She was also known to be kindhearted and had an adorable physique.

Whether she was as lovely as Samuel had never seen firsthand.

"I should train more, killing slime isn't that easy." Samuel sat down with a ragged breath.

Now Samuel was in the slime territory. A part of the hill that was always sunny. The reason he was there was to collect silver coins.

There are many ways to get silver or gold coins, the easiest way and no need to spend coins is to hunt slime. Every single slime that died would turn into a silver coin.

Currently, Samuel has only earned five silver coins. He still has a long way to go to exchange silver for gold.

"A conclusion after trying to use fire magic earlier. If I use it too much, my eyes will turn red and strange patterns will appear on my face.

If only I knew the limit of overdoing it. Maybe it's because my physique isn't good enough. So, did it affect the fire magic?" asked Samuel, looking in the other direction.

"I'll know the answer when I do it myself. There's still time before class starts, let's hunt again!" shouted Samuel and ran after the slime.

Slime is not too dangerous and easy to kill. One slash and the monster was dead. However, the running speed was unmatched.

The cute monster ran so fast that Samuel was exhausted. He only succeeded because he kept throwing daggers.

He hit the target five times. The next time, luck was not on his side.

"What is that disgusting smell? Ugh, what happened to him? Why do you go to class covered in sweat? It stinks."

Samuel knew the body odor was bad even before he heard the whispers of others in the class. He was forced to go straight to class because there was no time to change into his uniform.

The allotted time turned out to be more than he expected. As a result, Samuel got an extra silver coin. A little, but not bad.

"Attention, any questions? You know I won't answer anything unless it's in time," said Professor Dorian, one of the youngest teachers at the Academy.

Many students raised their hands. They were excited to ask about the material Professor Dorian was giving. Some even blushed.

Perhaps it was because Professor Dorian was quite handsome.

According to Samuel, the man still lost badly compared to the counseling professor. The Counseling Professor was more handsome and dashing.

In strength, too.

Every day Samuel continued his hunt for slime. He rarely slept in the dormitory, more often he fell asleep on a chair near the door to the slime place. He almost fell asleep in a dangerous place.

Slime isn't dangerous enough, but if you get hit by it, your skin might blister. The worst would leave only bones.

That's why Samuel preferred to sleep near the dimension door rather than in it.

The guards memorized Samuel's face because they saw him all the time. One of them even let Samuel in without checking his identity.

"Hey, did you hear there's a rumor going around that Professor Dorian is having an affair? I can't believe that Professor's face looks so innocent and kind."

"Faces can be deceiving. It's better not to judge a man by his face."

After exchanging the silver coins for a bag of gold coins, Samuel planned to eat at the cafeteria and then infiltrate the second floor building. To see the performance of Millena, Geni's younger sister.

On his way, he heard a rumor that Professor Dorian was having an affair. Just a rumor with no proof. But it made Samuel think of something else.

What if Dorian was also involved in Samuel's plan?

Whether the rumors were true or not, Samuel didn't care. He could make the rumors true.

"It's been a while, I heard you hunt slime a lot. How does it feel? It must be hard to make money," the haughty student sat down on the chair in front of Samuel.

The other two students followed.

"You guys? Please don't make fun of me," Samuel said scared.

Inside, Samuel was grinning. He missed those three students. Somehow it felt bland without the spice of evil. So flat.

"I told you, how could this kid kill a slime. It's hard to run," said Leo Pabulys, the student who always disagreed.

"Do you doubt me?! A Denmous?!" shouted Claude Denmous, turning his head sharply.

"Never mind, why are you always fighting? We're trying to play a trick on this kid." Kai Heinhard, the weaker of the two. Always the mediator.

Thinking about it, Samuel was a fool for not being able to understand Leo and Claude's every word. It was clear they were often in conflict, but always together.

I don't know what the reason was for those two people being together.

Could it be to curry favor with the more powerful? It could be.

The surrounding people had already moved away from the place near Samuel. They seemed afraid that they would join in the bullying.

"Ha, taste this!" shouted Leo, starting the bullying by spilling the contents of the food on Samuel's head.

Again, Leo tried to break up the fight subtly. He started the bullying ahead of Claude.

Samuel couldn't possibly try to avoid being bullied a second time. It would be obvious that there was something different about him, so there was no way but to accept.

Besides, Samuel had other ideas.

Bugh!

Drragh!

The raw punch managed to hit Samuel's cheek, successfully making his body fall to the floor.

Did Samuel overdo it, huh? He put a little more strength into his fall. If not, then stay seated on the chair.

Now his physical strength is getting better. Not so weak as usual.

"He-help, I'm... so scared...." Samuel voiced in a trembling tone.

"I am... afraid of Mr. Pabulys... he scares me by throwing away precious things... Food, the only precious thing... I might starve if I don't eat," Samuel said, turning to Leo with a frightened face streaked with tears.

"Aren't you afraid of me?" asked Claude, tugging at Samuel's collar.

"I-I am afraid...but more afraid of Mr. Pabulys." Samuel was still crying.

Bughh!

"Damn you, how dare you irritate me! More afraid of Pabulys?! Look, I'm going to smash that kid's face!" Claude shouted after punching Samuel.
