Chapter 11. Battle with Elemental Drakes | Part I

Needless to say, I want to try using the extent of this magic but I am surely hesitant. I don't want to be antagonistic but what if, rather than helping grow the forest using the mana, I may cause turmoil to other living beings here and become its enemy due to the greediness of the Origin Magic that sucks mana to strengthen itself. I shouldn't have plucked that flower from before if I have known that it's a sprout of the World Tree. Yet, I guess that's too late now.

"Are we using the same element, Sprigg?" I asked her while looking at the beasts. I hate it when I have to endanger my life just to get something I want.

"Yes, but you need to learn the other elements along the way. You already know the basics of each while we are fighting the smaller dinosaurs. So, it's gonna be easy for you!" She assured me while looking at me seriously.

"No, Sprigg. You didn't teach me anything." I replied.

What is she talking about?

"Really? I thought you already understood every basic of the elements while peeking at my mind, master," she said while scratching her temple.

"So, you knew all along?" I sighed.

"As I anticipated, I let you peeked into the things that you need to know without you asking. Naturally, you can access everything that I know as we are connected. Have you forgotten that I am connected to your soul? It is only expected to feel and take measures." She chuckled while she answered me, showing her two slender fingers.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing!" she snickered and added, "Let's defeat that beast, shall we?" I nodded and then she flew an arm away above my head. She said that she'll be assisting me from above to appraise the movement of the monster and instruct me everything while I am fighting.

"Great! Let's show these monsters who's the boss!"

I heard that while we are showing ourselves to the three dragon-like monsters she calls dinosaurs but the only beast that came at me is the water drake with the tail of a fish and long ears. It walked on its four legs elegantly like a proud lady flaunting its gowns. Its long ears looked like its tail but much transparent and beyond stunning. I was mesmerized by its beauty and thought that I needed to approach it but as soon as I arrived it flapped its tail and I was blown with a stream of water dragging me to the bushes nearby. Huh. I didn't see that coming.

"Are you alright, master?" I heard Sprigg talking to me using telepathy in my head. I nodded and said, "Yes".

I guess magic spells don't need to be focused on the hands, it can also be used in the tail if you have one. Hmm. I got up and removed the dirt and leaves on my body and started gathering mana around my body and focused on my hand to form the dark red fire. Spells and incantations are not necessary since I am using my mana. I hid to the large stem nearby and gathered as much fire as I could. The stone and fire drakes are not moving and seem like enjoying our confrontation with the water drake. I can feel Sprigg maximizing the extent of origin magic that my body ejects since I feel a little discomfort within my body while I gather the mana to support the elemental magic.

I can see that the water drake is also starting to flap its tail again to form water magic on it. I ran and fired the magic to the water drake but it blocked using the same magic. It seems that you can also use it to barricade another magic. That's quite useful, huh. I think I will understand things about magic usage while fighting. The problem now is that there are still two more drakes to fight. I just hope that it will end soon.

"Would you like me to add another wave of the percentage of origin magic that we are using, Master?" I heard Sprigg in my head asking for permission.

"How vastly are we utilizing now, Sprigg?" I replied with another question and added, "Just make sure that we are not harming the forest or exhaust me. I still have other battles to use it to."

"Got it. Original Magic usage, 2%. Adding another percent to the supply of mana. Commencing 3%." said Sprigg with her high-pitched lifeless voice when she's conforming to something.

I believe that's her way of showing how delightful she is. I started feeling the surge of mana around my body and did the same thing when invoking similar flame magic. I hid again and launched the same fire magic to the water drake when it blocked my magic with the same water barrier. However, this time it evaporated like boiling water and it jumped to its side. I think the water drake is vulnerable to fire magic and will do everything to evade it. My lips curled up on the side thinking that I can continue doing that while changing the trajectory of the fire magic on its side when the water drake moved like it's swirling around while its tail flapped covering its entire body forming a ball of water.

The wall of water looked like a doom that can fit three average grown-up people on it. The water drake is inside and I can't see it, only the waves of white bubbles. Is this your water barrier, water drake? I asked myself and then focused my mana on my two hands forming the fire magic and launched it to the doom-like water barrier one after the other. It is now beginning to vaporize carving small gaps when my magic touches the water barrier but it fixes itself which suggests that this drake is expecting to win the battle by wearing down the enemy to the point of collapse through continuous magic usage. Lucky for me, I am only using a tiny bit of my power. You clever beast! Let me run your magic down instead! I chuckled thinking that it was trying to outsmart me.

"I can sense that you are enjoying the fight. Would you like me to add another percent of mana contribution, Master?" the high-pitched voice joyfully resounded in my head as if she's also enjoying the fight herself.

"Not yet, Sprigg!" I replied while I tried looking above my head but she is nowhere to be found. Worried, I asked her again and added, "Are you using your invisibility skill?"

"Y-Yes, Master." she sounds gloomy and disinterested in answering my question.

I kept attacking the water barrier manipulating the same magic over and over again and although it creates holes when it touches my magic it immediately replenishes since allowing my body to shift from focusing mana to shaping it like a fire on my hand is slower than that of the drake's ability to manifest as a water barrier. Oh, it's truly adept at using its elemental magic. Also, I think the reason why it never builds a massive impact is that I am still far away from the water drake's barrier while attacking. I am slowly gaining distance towards my opponent to see if it causes more impact without adding the percentage of the usage of my Origin Magic.

"Sprigg, can you analyze the opponents while we are advancing towards it?" I asked her using the same transmission.

"Affirmative. However, the beast's information is only showing its name as a Water Drake Sentry. Further information is not accessible." she replied with her usual childish lifeless voice.

"Thank you, Sprigg."

"My pleasure, Master."

It's already been an hour attacking the barrier with the same fire magic and I am getting tired of this fight with the drake's barrier and although this is not wearing me down it keeps replenishing that it's starting to annoy me. Why won't you just stop! Gaining distance while using magic or far away, the result will still be the same. This water drake is certainly capable with its natural element but I realized something. Sprigg asked me different things about using magic by decreasing and increasing. What I am still using is the normal intensity of the power I am yielding, with the same stance I gathered the mana within my body and shaping it with more intensity.

"Detecting rapid usage of mana circulation. Would you like to add another percentage, Master?" she said with a little vigour in her voice, "3% mana reserve is depleting."

Huh? Surprised I stopped supplying mana to my hand but it's already too late, the fire magic is now bigger than my head and it's starting to erupt like a fountain of unstable fire. I threw it to the water drake's barrier and it exploded. The explosion produced tremors that the fire drake shuddered and the stone drake earlier stood resting and is now standing up looking at us, especially to the lying water drake.

"Slay the beast, master. Finish it." Sprigg who's flying above earlier is now at my shoulder sitting. "Don't worry about your mana. It's returned to its normal flow", she added.

I looked at Sprigg and blasted another fire magic to the lifeless drake.
