"She's a wand-bearer, and she's expected to do a lot of this kind."
"Teleportation magic is a rare skill even for a wand-bearer, you know."
Pomell and Roe are having a conversation about her skill and being a wand-bearer. To be honest, I understand really well as to why it is so incredible. I say, even if she disappeared from our naked eye, her mana fluctuation suggests that she's still within the huge podium simultaneously jumping from one place to another making her invisible, like a phantom. This trick looked like a spell of invisibility, but it's actually a spontaneous use of one skill.
The instructor is being alerted looking around the side to side as he gently bends his knees and readied his sword. From time to time, Arabella stops making her leave an image of herself and looks like he is teasing the professor. On the other hand, although the instructor is on guard for an attack coming from her, he swings his massive sword to the empty space.
"And though no one is targeting the other, it's also a viable strategy. Making him alert with potential attacks from all of the direction."
"That's always a coward's tactic. Avoiding and all that."
"You don't have to say like that, Roe. She's—"
"Come forth, hell rain!"
Pomell, who had been arguing with Roe about Arabella 's way of fighting, stopped as she shouted, and multiple fireballs surrounded and rained down the instructor. Since the mana fluctuations were disturbed earlier, I did not notice her summoning a lot of fireballs. It's a very risky attempt from her, but the professor bent down to her feet, pressing his blade to the stone sheet.
"Impact shield!" the instructor shouted.
Heavy and scorching flames poured down on him, forming cracks in the ground, being completely covered by an unseen force like a tiny cyclone, dispelling the fires before hitting him.
"Huh! You don't think you're the only person that can use magic here, right? Milady?"
I get it now. The professor uses wind magic reasonably close to my protective shield. While it looked like a half-doom surrounding it, it can only sustain a small area.
"Teleportation magic is really uncommon even for a wand-bearer. Not only that, but the elemental magic you are using is also on par with a staff-bearer. It's a pretty good one, but would it be all that you can do, milady?"
Always cautious and wary of the fireballs coming down on him, Arabella doesn't reveal herself. What an indignant tactic. Looking closely at the professor carrying his massive blade, there's a big blue crystal on its pommel while pivoting around elegantly eschewing all the fireballs. I believe that's why he can use magic even if he doesn't use a standard wizard weapon.
"Sixth sense," he once again shouted.
Gripping tightly to his sword's handle, he ran to the west side of the stage and swung the heavy-looking broadsword, stopping in the middle of the air.
"Wind Sphere," as Arabella slowly appears, pointing her wand to the broad sword she cried, forming a ball of raging wind stopping his weapon.
"Ho-ho! Dual elements for a wand-bearer! Very impressive!"
Although the stage is very dangerous and we are not really far away from it as we are waiting for our turn to fight, it's still enough not to hit us from the spells they are using. Whilst Arabella is still blocking the heavy sword, I looked at the other stage and a young man is having a sword fight with another instructor but it ends quickly as the sword is pointing at the young man's neck. It's really far away from us to not hear them cheer for the fight between the other instructor and the Knight apprentice but that's really fast. I returned my sight to the stage where she is fighting and they are now slowly walking away from each other.
"You can do it, Bella!" Roe shouted while clenching on to the rail.
"You don't have to cheer her. It's only a mock battle." Pomell retorted, still holding his long staff.
Thea who had been quiet before joined us by the bannisters and cheered our teammate. I can even hear her mumble like "you should do it." The other apprentice knights are also near the bannisters looking at the battle, while their mouths are slightly open. And though their amusement is noticeable, I kept checking the rest of our team, and the young woman wearing heavy armour walked close to me.
"You don't seem to be a knight but ah... you don't have a magical item with you. Are you a gemstone-bearer too?" she asked me with her two arms crossed.
She sounds like she's examining other delegates too, as well as what I'm doing. So she's really suspicious of the people around us, huh. This young woman appeared like she wasn't here to judge us, just to supervise us. Suddenly, I sensed a hand scratching at my back and wrapping around my neck as I watched Roe speak to her.
"No. He's a special kind! Hey, I am Roe, a grimoire-bearer. Would you like to see my spells?"
"Roe, let go of Twig! Don't embarrass him in front of a lady!"
"So, you are called Twig?" she asks and chuckles.
That stiff but noble-like demeanour is still evident even when she's smiling.
"No, I am Lemure. They are calling me Twig because I told them I was called Twig back where I came from," I paused and removed Roe's hand and added, "This is Rowan but he wants to be called Roe. That's Pomell and that's Thea."
"I am glad to meet you all I—"
"Fire Blaze!"
We switched our attention to the stage where the shout came from. Two large fire pillars are encircling the instructor while he is kneeling down preparing for his spell again.
"Impact shield"
We forgot that her assessment is still going on while we are introducing ourselves. The young woman with armour looked at the stage after Pomell instructed her to continue it later when everybody is finished.
"That's a good idea," she replied while still looking at the stage.
Roe who smiled dubiously walked beside me and hung his arm around my neck again and whispered, "You really are a bad boy, eh!"
"What do you mean?" I answered.
"Hey, I caught you looking at her. Are you going to deny it?"
"Huh?"
"Fire Blaze!"
"HA HA HA! Don't mind me. Who am I to judge, right?"
"You two! Pay attention!"
"—Yes!"
While the fire pillars are still overwhelming the instructor's doom-like tiny barrier, the intensity of the heat is still the same and there's an arm's length gap in between. He stood up and at the same time shouted.
"Support Enhancement: Enhanced combat, Body augment!"
"Fireballs!"
The disturbance of mana from her side is more daunting now. And though, his movement was much faster than before, he was able to get away from the two fire pillars. However, the barrage of fireballs from Arabella is not leaving him any room to dodge. He can evade it but not entirely, he blocks it using his broad sword and it dispels the moment it touches it.
"Fireballs!"
She continues hitting with her fire magic while the teacher dodges all the attacks. His movements were amplified by the moment he shouted his spell. Although the attacks are nullified when the sword is struck, the fireballs never cease.
"It's done."
"What do you mean?" I asked Roe.
"The instructor is gaining distance while Arabella is busy attacking using her fire magic."
"That's right! This test is almost done," said the young woman wearing full armour.
The instructor is indeed gaining distance and since she stopped using her teleportation spell, he can see her now. He jumps from one place to another, making her believe she's in favour of the battle. Just when she tries another attack, the sword is in her neck, and the battle is over.
"Impressive, milady! The test is now over."
I can see that everyone in the Knights Division enjoyed the fight as they approached her after she knelt and opened the bannister as she walked away from the stage. She somehow retreated elegantly as nothing had happened, and they were all cheering for her.
"That's a great battle!"
"You are awesome!"
"Fantastic spells!"
They were all really cheerful about her fight. She was surrounded by the Knights-to-be, and even Roe was there. He's something, really. The mage apprentices and I were waiting in the corner of the bannister as she approached us. Also, Pomell, even though he doesn't reveal it, I think he's going to congratulate her.
"Alright, everyone! Calm down! Next is Cedany! Come now, young warrior!
When that name was called, they were all very intrigued. However, a young woman wearing a full set of steel armour walked past us to the bannisters and to the stage carrying her long and sturdy-looking sword with a dazzling purplish-glow of crystal on its pommel. Well, her name is Cedany, huh. I wonder if she's like the instructor, a magic knight.
"Hey, lover boy! Your dame is fighting now. Cheer her up!"
"What are you saying, Roe?" I ask.
I really don't understand him even now. He's been acting so weird calling me strange things. Pomell, who had been listening to him hit his head and rebuked him again. He's really odd. I, for one, don't feel anything sensual to her.
"That was an impressive fight, Arabella."
I turned to her instead and praised her.
"Please, that was nothing. I'm delighted to see the rest of us going to have to fight here. So, now, lover boy. You 're not going to cheer your Lady Knight in shining armour a good cheer, huh?"
"You too?"
†††
†††Everyone from her party cried out as if they had already won a fight. There was a warm cheer from the Knights freshman since she was simply part of their division. When she finally got to the battle point, she lowered her head slightly and then prepared her long, sturdy-looking swords with a purple jewel at the bottom of her handle. Pomell said that these colours represent how intense the concentration of mana inside the gemstones. The only known magic stones in t
†††After the full set of armoured steel melted and covered her entire body, the massive tree monster began to move towards Cedany and swallowed her inside. Interestingly, the giant monster also seemed to be amalgamating with steel and slowly and gradually shrinking, as if giving it the same set of armour, but differently."Ha! I will definitely ask her what she calls that kind of spell!" Roe spoke enthusiastically.
†††While the cheers went a lot wilder than the time she ascended the platform. Everyone on the Mage Division team did not mind the loud clapping and cheering from the viewing audience when Thea suddenly and without warning placed her hand next to Cedany's body when she aptly called for her spell and yelled, "Mystical healing!""It's really great to have someone from the gemstone class to cast healing magic!" she said."Yeah! You should've seen her watching so worried sick about you!" Roe replied teasing Thea.Thea did not respond to his teasing, but Arabella eventually came up to us, removed her protruding silly hat, placed her hands on her hips, and officially started to grimace furiously towards Cedany."You are a fool, really. Changing your magic wand with that big sword? How could you possibly—?"Bella!—"Arabella turned her head and lifted her right hand to Pomell, who was attempting to stop her."I'm not done with—! Ugh. No matter how desperately you try to pretend to be a magic
†††"Does that mean that we're limited to just one element and if we're lucky enough, we can get two? Is that correct?" I asked apprehensively.
†††"Sixth Sense. Weapon Enhancement: Wind boost!"
†††"Holy Gods!" †††"Is he also using element manipulation specializing in wind magic?" I asked. †††On the warm and windy early morning within that wide courtyard of their huge mansion there stood a beautiful young lady whose absurd, thick, fiery red hair was loosened, waving in the rhythm of the clear and muggy sky, leaning on a willow tree, most of which surrounded a short, bright green yet lush lawn, crouching and gazing at her tall staff with a truly speInto The Unknown World Chapter 31. Despite the nobles' seeming unjustified trepidation of the upcoming clash between the King and the audacious young man who rattled the throne room, people gathered in the most expansive royal courtyard ever.Although Archmage Varthos and General Damascus arrived in front of the King at the same point in time, they took turns greeting him. The elderly Archmage swiftly declared his purpose as they bowed slightly to show respect before proceeding to the small tent."Your Majesty," he whispered discreetly. "The offenders are on their way." The elderly appear to be delighted with what must be done with these pathetic people."Hmm. You appear to be pleased." The King flashed a smile. "Excellent." Looking intently at the young man holding a wooden staff. Thinking about how he kept
'Master, please utilize the spells I prepared for you,' Sprigg said, the last time he spoke to him telepathically. In conclusion, she has already considered this and is bracing herself for a confrontation with His Majesty, the King of Ardun. While he is probably still trying to recover from the breathtaking landscape of such an enchanting corridor covered with enormous paintings of people, he has been placed in a situation where he no longer has to retreat for his current life. This is a truly horrible fate, he thought. Why does he constantly wind up in this type of peril, he wondered. He gets to view the magnificent settings brought about by the miracles of magic, but a ridiculous manner of setting it off is eschewed. “Please tread cautiously, Archmage,” Eschel cautioned, astounded. Even though he is still bowing in the rear, Le
“Be thankful that this cultured one will demonstrate his strength to your helpless mortal. Wouldn't you agree that this new generation can provide so much from the ground up?” Declared the expanding shadow hovering just above the King's head as he gazed down at the lovely lady in a brown cloak. “All right, let's get started.” It paused and continued, nastily grinning, "King, take them all and have fun." “Coven of miasma,” the King stated quietly. A massive flood of black, tainted fog then attempted to envelop the whole throne hall. As it waded through every nook and corner, it liberated itself. From the perspective of a master, this is a daring and intelligent action. However, it was halted by an unknown force at the huge wooden door where the lovely lady and the young man were. It ceased dispersing as if it had chosen at random not to follow its conjurer.
†††It took a moment for everyone to shift their gazes from the aristocracy that had gathered only a breath away from the King's pedestal. These nobility fidgeted once more after the man behind Lemure's back in a long brown robe handed the present as an offering to the Knight near the General. This demonstrates that they may have liked the way in which he is behaving.Gifts are important and relevant for aristocracy, but they are not something to be praised for. Fortunately, this particular King did not consider gifting nobles to be necessary. Their attention was drawn mostly to the young man dressed modestly and the lady who was clearly not his lady in waiting. The old man with the hideous scar
†††If it is correct and accurate, seeking the right answer to all of my questions is guiding me from one destination to another. And, for that matter, I need to reconsider how I can devote my life to anything appropriate for this personal quest. Having said that, I'd really like to get rid of my doubts and believe everything they said.“...You are greater than the battle raging in our mind. Please be our guide.”It was the last thing I heard from Professor Strauss before a man in a brown shabby robe approached us and stood next to the doorway, bowing. I'm not sure what Professor meant by being a guide, but I know it has something to do with their task, and I'm right in the middle of it.“Pl
††† ‘What might have happened in his life in the wilderness that made him very much like this?' wondered the professor. Alas, he remembered reading a rhetorical study determining the unpredictable difficulty of any magical caster that holds such an enormous amount of power can also be explained by their emotions fueling their earnest magic; just like how they should be treated with caution and why must never be trifled with. Emotions are dangerous indeed, he thought at that time. “Aumier..” That, however, is not what is happening. Lemure, who has been sitting inside the carriage, has been experiencing numerous strong feelings and is unsure how to begin a dialogu
††† The Professor shared several stories, one after the other, and they all finished the same way. It was quite meaningless without the young man on the tier of Archmage who piqued his curiosity. This is only because the young man doesn't even want to ask questions about the story, and it is very awkward for him to go along with it. However one thing is certain: every now and then, he casts a look at Eschel, the young wizard the Professor claims to be his nephew as he tells his lived experiences. Nevertheless, Lemure who took precautions seems to be no longer on guard. “That’s after the fall of the Kingdom of Arcania, right?” The young wizard spoke enthusiastically to corroborate the story he had been giving attention to from the Professor ever since. He absolutely adored the deliberate manner in which this story was told. For a man to overcome his flaws and live through the ashes beneath his feet.
††† The room was filled up with hardship. Yes, for the lack of words, it is how I can describe it. Hardship is the one thing a person can only describe in front of such a crisis. Doubtful looks and cautious answers. Those were the behaviour on display. To be detailed yet not intruding; in other words, to be cautious in everything you say. Even for a while, Eschel, the young wizard, went through to inquire, peeping at the right moment to proceed. “Wasn't it something like that from the beginning?” “It was indeed like that.” “I have read that from the archives before and I can’t imagine how it was too much for a Kingdom to lose their face rather than lose the subjects. How can that be possible? In a face of danger, one shoul
†††"This has been lost a long time ago."I was thinking that if this were to strengthen my ties with them, then I'm not completely convinced and pleased that they're using my family to do something like this. His name, however, was not just a coincidence. Sure, there may be someone who could perhaps come up with names close to what we can use, but it's also a shame to continue to deny."Yes, perhaps that's true, but the day you disappeared. A majority of residents were gathered to participate in the rescue mission to take the time to look for two silly young boys who had been missing in the wilderness, but the only thing they had retrieved was the blade.
