As soon as Astra and the team were done with their obstacle course and stealthy movement training, they each headed back to their dorms together with the rest of the newbies, Astra took a quick shower and wore the new black uniform she was given the night before and instructed to wear them when going for specialized training. As soon as the crawler realized Astra was charging towards it, it dropped the soldiers it was munching off of and made the same blood curling shriek that it made on the first day that it came out of the monolith. Making the crawlers and red hounds scattered all over the destroyed bridges to respond. Astra closed the distance between them in no time, despite a direct order for her to wait for her teammates so they can attack it as a team, she paid no heed, her attention on the monster, yet her mind stuck in the memories of the day the monoliths landed. Before Astra could reach the where she kept her HELL-blades, the entire camp had woken up as sirens were blaring loudly. The soldiers have mounted heavy machine guns and grenade launchers on the wall. Both Astra and Rhoda have reached an incredible speed of rotation, with a loud metallic clashing sound. Their HELL-blades hit each other and, just as Astra has suspected all along, the blades didn’t release an explosion of energy. When they finally stopped spinning, she realised something. The blades are pulsating with energy. The one in her hand begins to vibrate and as the alien spiders get closer and closer to them, she noticed the blades glowing brighter and brighter. “I understand what is going on, I think. Whoever made these must have made them with the ability to store the energy generated when they clash. Astra and Rhoda headed straight to the training room in the military unit together with Carter. They met the rest of the alpha team members at the entrance, waiting for them. They went straight in. the training equipment of the room had been removed and replaced with target practice dolls kept at different pars of the room. Carter approached her one step at a time, walking over pieces of equipment that the massive energy wave has scattered around the floor. He collected the two blades from her hands and examine them carefully. “I don’t understand what is going on here. If the battery pod is no longer connected to the blade, how is it possible that they are still active and, even better, glowing white?” Asked Carter with clear confusion on his face. Astra smiled and picked up a little piece of the green crystal bits on the floor in front of them. She approached him and brought the crystal close to the surface of her blade.
