Selfishness

William stood on top of a three-floored building, kneeling bent, like a wolf, staring at their prey in the moonlight. His aim had not been war from the start. His goal was the riches brought by the war.

It would make him extremely happy to encounter the spirit stone mountain in the tower opposite him, as he had encountered the previous one.

He looked under the tower. He saw dozens of soldiers around him. He didn't care about their lives, but he didn't want to take lives unnecessarily. It was an absurd habit from his old world, empathy. He knew that they too might have a family waiting at home. But it wouldn't be nice if someone more powerful than himself killed him without question. That's why he wanted to give it a chance.

He knew that what he was about to do would be extremely stupid and unnecessary. He was aware of this. Maybe he was already tired.
