As Alisha slowly regained consciousness, her eyelids fluttered open, revealing the sterile white ceiling of the hospital room.

The room was quiet except for the soft beeping of the machines monitoring her vitals. She felt disoriented, her thoughts scattered.

The elderly nurse who had been monitoring her noticed the movement and immediately came to her side.

“Alisha, can you hear me?” the nurse asked gently, placing a hand on her arm.

Alisha’s eyes slowly focused on the nurse. “Where… where am I?” she asked weakly, her voice barely a whisper.

“You're in the hospital,” the nurse replied with a calm, reassuring tone. “You had a bit of a scare, but you’re safe now.”

The nurse leaned in closer, checking Alisha’s pulse and then adjusting the IV drip in her arm.

She took out a stethoscope and placed it on Alisha’s chest, listening carefully to her heartbeat. Satisfied with what she heard, she moved on to check her blood pressure, scribbling notes onto a chart hanging by the bed.
