Chapter 409

Kai continued to swing the detonator casually in his hand, the small device spinning between his fingers like it was nothing more than a toy. His voice was steady, his tone almost indifferent.

“She was hired to kill my boss,” he said, his eyes locked onto Scarface. “And in the attempt, I killed her.”

Scarface’s expression remained unreadable, but there was a flicker of something behind his eyes. Interest. Suspicion. Maybe both.

Kai kept walking, slow and deliberate, like he had all the time in the world. “Later, I found out she’s from around here,” he continued, his voice calm but sharp. “She runs one of the biggest gangs in this city.” He stopped and turned to face Scarface again. “And now, I’m on a mission to wipe her entire operation off the surface of the earth.”

The words hung in the air for a moment, thick with intent.

“But first,” Kai added, his tone shifting slightly, “I need to find the man who hired her to assassinate my boss.”

The air smelled of coffee and jet fuel, and the soft murmur of conversations filled the space. The headlights cut through the evening dimness, casting long shadows across the estate’s stone-paved entrance. He exhaled slowly, leaning against the railing.Kai had already told him over the phone how things had gone down in Red Waters. The mission was completed, and somehow, Kai had decided to bring a girl back with him—an assistant, he had said. Liam found that strange. Kai wasn’t the type to get involved with anyone, much less take someone under his wing. But then again, Kai was full of surprises. He downed the rest of his drink, placed the glass on a nearby table, and made his way downstairs.By the time he stepped outside, Kai was already out of the car, standing beside a young woman who looked hesitant, almost as if she wasn’t sure whether to move or stay put. She had wide eyes, taking in the mansion with an expression that

His face was swollen, a deep cut above his eyebrow still fresh.“I have him,” Williams said, his voice smooth. There was a pause on the other end, then the cold reply. “Good! It’s done.”Williams exhaled slowly. “Good? Now, listen—I barely convinced the kidnappers to let him go. They weren’t happy about it, saying you messed with their boss, but luckily I knew one of them and gave them the money you sent. They took it and agreed to drop it. No loose ends. Although a few wanted more money.”Mr. Sterling’s voice was unre
