CHAPTER 13

Though the usual sharp smile was missing on the chiseled face of the Greek-god lookalike, Keith lost the drink in her mouth from seeing him appear out of nowhere. “J-Jim?!” she didn’t know what else to say.

“Hello, Keith, you look stunning, as always,” Jim commented, which was typical of him, but Keith began to smile and her body twined like a vine. “Mind if I share a drink?”

“O-Of course,” Keith moved to her left. “Please sit.”

“Thank you,” he sat in between the two tallest ladies in the bar. Fittingly, he was also the tallest man in the bar, not counting the abnormally tall bouncers. Many men that had their eyes on Keith and Rena all this while began to envy Jim who came out of nowhere and stole the attention of the two pretty women who were far too overdressed for their surroundings. “I’ll have a bourbon mixed with toasted rye.” He told the bartender. “As for the ladies, double bourbon cornbread, right?”

“Yes, anything you order is fine for me,” Keith put her hand on Jim’s forearm.
