JONATHAN : Son-in-law Who Suddenly Becomes a Millionaire.

-Mr. Weldien's Birthday-

The Weldein family residence suddenly became very lively, many luxury cars parked in the front yard of the residence with the luxurious old European model building.

Guests wearing expensive clothes walked in with laughter, whilst some of them brought a neatly wrapped gift in their hands.

Today was Mr. Weldein’s birthday. Today all business relations from businessmen all over the country came to congratulate Mr. Weldein. Countless expensive gifts were symbols of everyone’s respect for Mr. Weldein.

“Are you sure about all of this, John?”

The figure of a brown haired woman looked unsure enough to just simply enter the Weldein residence. In fact, every five minutes, that question was always said to the man who was now clutching her waist possessively.

“Are you thinking about buying an expensive gift, Elissa? How much money do you have?”

“No, I know who Grandpa is. He will surely accept whatever I buy sincerely. I know who Grandpa is.” Elissa kept repeating her words. Elissa’s tiny lips seemed to say an emphasis so that the man who was with her would believe her.

“That was when you were a baby, Elissa. Have you forgotten the last time we bought gifts for your grandfather? A souvenir we bought from saving for a year, and your grandfather threw the souvenir in the trash.”

“But—”

“Trust me, the gifts we will give your grandfather will be much better than the gifts that everyone and all his grandchildren are going to give here.”

Elissa could only nod, she finally stepped into the Weldien family’s residence. There, everyone was enjoying their meal, in a room on the left side of a staircase that formed a large U.

“Oh my God, Elissa. Why have you just come!”

A woman who carried wine in her hand immediately approached Elissa, hugged and kissed Elissa’s right and left cheeks. Then her eyes fell on the man who was still holding Elissa’s waist. Her gaze suddenly changed to one of disapproval.

“Why did you take this useless man here? Don’t you know Grandpa doesn’t like him?”

Elissa looked at the man who was with her, a jet black haired man with beautiful blue eyes.

“He is my husband, so how can I not take him? After all, Jonathan is a member of the Weldien family.”

“An unrecognized member of the Weldien family. Because the Weldien family doesn’t have any useless family members, whose only job is to bother his wife. Trash.”

Jonathan was silent. This kind of speech in the Weldien family about him was a very reasonable and normal speech, and Jonathan was too fed up if he had to argue about this matter.

It was only because for the past three years he had been out of work that Weldien family looked down on him. And because Jonathan was not a family of wealthy businessmen. Of course Weldien family didn’t feel up to par, and that was used as a mockery by the entire Weldien family to Jonathan.

“Come on in, John. I’m sure Grandpa is already in the living room.”

“Shouldn’t you be the one coming in? Like what Amaris said, I am not part of your family.”

“You are my husband, stop saying things like that, Jonathan! Come on, let’s go inside.”

Elissa immediately invited Jonathan to enter, and there were all the members of the Weldien family and they were sitting very neatly inside.

Elissa glanced briefly at her parents, their gazes were clearly the looks of disapproval of Jonathan.

“Oh my god, what a shameless poor couple. How did you guys get here, are you invited guests? I don’t think Grandpa would ever invite you guys. Though since you are married, you are not part of the Weldien family anymore.”

Jonathan could only smile sweetly, being treated and greeted like that was a very ordinary thing. In fact, Jonathan had heard that too many times.

For Jonathan all of that was not important. The most important thing was that Elissa was by his side, and that was more than enough.

“At my birthday party I want to share my inheritance with all my grandchildren, while giving them a challenge whether they can do it well or not.”

All of Mr. Weldien’s grandchildren immediately chuckled with joy. How could they not, they had never imagined that they would get an inheritance this early. Even though they already thought that only when their grandfather would be old enough to not be able to do anything could they get an inheritance. However, now they will get it.

“I’m sure that Elissa and her husband who are jobless and poor will never inherit a penny from the Weldien family, that is the truth.”

“Poor thing, I want to laugh at them. Look at how shabby their clothes are, they come to the party but look like bums.”

The whispers between the cousins sounded so clear, and how could Jonathan not hear? Of course Jonathan heard it, even they deliberately said it loud enough so that it could be heard by Jonathan’s ears. But then again, Jonathan didn’t care at all.

“What challenge is that, Grandpa? I can’t wait to find out. You know that in the entire Weldien family, I’m the most reliable grandchild, don’t you? So I guess Grandpa doesn’t need to think so hard anymore, we’ll really make you proud. Except … Elissa and Jonathan.”

A glance from Amaris was able to irritate Elissa, but Elissa’s hand was immediately grabbed by Jonathan. Jonathan smiled sweetly then he shook his head, signalling Elissa not to be provoked by Amaris’s words.

“You know, the Weldien family has four businesses that are quite thriving. From this business we can know that the Weldien family is not to be trifled with when it comes to business. I’m very old, I’m too tired to take care of this business. So I entrust all my business to my grandchildren, with the condition that all of these businesses must meet the targets I expect in the first three years, then I will officially let go of these businesses and I will give them to you.”

All the grandchildren of the Weldien family smiled happily. Inheriting all the family businesses was what they wanted most.

“You know the Weldien family has a lot of business, and this business is very promising. It’s just that there seems to be one Weldien family business that seems to be failing.”

“What is that?”

“Farms, I hope we don’t get the business. Because it’s the worst business and a sign that grandfather hates us.”

Everyone fell silent again, Elissa glanced at Jonathan again. Jonathan smiled sweetly at Elissa.

“Does that mean the farm will be given to us?” Elissa asked.

“Of course if you are still considered a grandchild by your grandfather.” Jonathan seduced his wife.

“For the textile company business, I will leave it to Amaris. This is my biggest and most advanced business. I gave it to Amaris because I know that Amaris is my most talented grandchild.”

Everyone who was there rolled their eyes. Even with Elissa who was hated because Jonathan was poor. More than that, Amaris was also disliked because Amaris was a big-headed person and an arrogant person.

“Secondly, I will give a transportation service company to Philip, I know he is more talented than anyone in this field, then I will hand over my software company to Adelia, she is the most suitable in this field of course.”

Mr. Weldien’s three favorite grandchildren smiled happily. These three family business empires were known for their rapid progress and having had many extraordinary developments. Except … farms.

“And the last one seems to suit Elissa and her good-for-nothing husband. You know our family owns a farm business in the outskirts of a remote village in this city, right? You can move there and start business with that useless husband of yours. Maybe in there your husband can plow the fields and just plant wheat, for example. As long as you don’t continue to disturb my beautiful eyes with your arrival.”

Elissa almost didn’t accept it, but she was held back by Jonathan. Elissa could not accept her husband being treated like that.

“We’ll just accept it.”

“But, John. You are insulted like that.”

“Isn’t that already your family’s job?”

“But—”

“What is it, Elisa? Do you want to protest? Was what I said about your husband wrong?”

“He’s not as bad as Grandpa and the others think. John is a loving person and he’s very sincere.”

“Is that love and sincerity can feed you?”

Elisa fell silent.

“What gift would you give me this year? Amaris gave me a luxurious painting worth one hundred million dollars, while Philip gave me a jade stone worth five hundred thousand dollars, Adelia also gave me a ring with a beautiful dragon image. And you, what would you give me?”

“Says and prayers, Grandfather.” Jonathan replied, everyone who was there laughed out loud because of that.

“Are you stupid? Can prayer please me? Just tell me that you can’t afford expensive gifts, that’s why you give me nothing but your damn prayers, John, and I don’t need them at all.”

Jonathan looked down, then Amaris and Philip immediately hit Jonathan’s leg until Jonathan fell to his knees in front of the Weldien extended family.

“You useless man, apologize to Grandfather. What you did to Grandfather was nothing more than an extraordinary humiliation. Do you think you have the right to do all this? Hurry up and apologize to Grandpa!”

“What did I do wrong that I have to apologize to Grandpa? Is giving birthday wishes and wishing grandpa long life a crime?”

“Tsk! You useless son-in-law, you really just disgraced my family!” screamed Elissa’s father.

“I don’t want to have a daughter and a shameful son-in-law like them.”

Elissa’s mother later left with her husband, leaving Elissa and Jonathan there.

“You know, Elissa, if you would accept my offer to be betrothed to my best friend, maybe your fate would not be so unlucky. You are really unlucky to meet a goddamn man like Jonathan.”

Elissa looked at Amaris fiercely, but she didn’t say anything either.

“Okay, stop arguing. I just want to say that, in the three years, the business that I gave you must experience growth and profits of fifteen percent. If you don’t get that target then you can’t get all the business from the Weldien family. Are you up to it?”

“We can do it, Grandpa. But about Elissa, I’m not sure. Grandfather’s farm business on the outskirts of town is really very deplorable and was laid off even more than seven years ago. If Elissa and her poor husband should face this challenge. Where did they get the money and capital from? I’m sure they would die there in a horrible way, starve to death and we’d laugh about it.”

“Adelia, didn’t you know what Grandpa meant all along? Grandfather wanted to expel Elissa and Jonathan, because these two people were trash that disturbed Grandpa’s sight. If those two are eliminated, then Grandpa will easily not have to see them again, right?”

“Tsk! It turns out that Grandpa is the best, Grandpa knows that we really hate them both.”

Jonathan again approached Elissa, he did not want to lower his high pride to anyone.

“Tell them that you accept this challenge and are up to it.”

“Are you crazy, John? Accepting an offer from Grandpa is the same as if we wanted to kill ourselves. I don’t want to live in pain and misery by living in the suburbs and then think about how to revive a dead business.”

“We will think about it, the most important thing now is to save our pride first. Do you want to continue being trampled by your family like this, Elissa?”

Elissa shook her head, then she glanced at Jonathan with a confident look.

“Alright, I will accept the challenge from Grandpa. In three years I will develop Grandfather’s farm and make the bankrupt farm rise again and become the most successful farm in this country, even I promise that Grandfather himself will be proud of me.”

“Under one condition.” Jonathan added. “If Elissa and I succeed in completing Grandfather’s challenge, I want all members of the Weldien family, especially the grandchildren of the Weldien family, to apologize to both of us and stop looking down on us, consider us to be part of the honourable Weldien family, not as trash as you said!”

“Tsk! All right, we’ll oblige whatever you want to dream, John. We will accept your challenge, are you satisfied?”

Everyone laughed again, laughing at how stupid Jonathan looked in their eyes. An unemployed man who can do nothing but burdened his wife’s life.

“John, can you go first? There’s something I want to talk to Elissa about for a bit.” Mr Weldien gave the order.

Jonathan glanced at Elissa, who actually didn’t want to be left alone, but this time, Jonathan couldn’t be with Elissa.

“Please, Grandpa.”

“Could you repeat?”

“Sorry, Mister Weldien. Please.”

“Good, don’t ever call me Grandpa because I’m not your grandfather.”

A cynical and painful voice came from Mr. Weldien’s mouth, Jonathan then left as he was being pulled by Amaris and  Philip. Even the rude attitude of the two of them managed to make Jonathan almost fall perfectly on the floor.

“What are you doing?” snapped Jonathan.

“Did you ask about what we do?” Philip said in his arrogant voice. “Of course throwing a trash in its place. Do you think there is another way to dispose of trash that is much more honourable than this? You really are a shameless man, John.”

“I am your cousin-in-law.”

“Do we think of you that way?”

Jonathan was silent again, until finally Amaris lifted her foot right in front of Jonathan’s face.

“Lick my shoe, and kiss it. Then I will count you to be my cousin. If you don’t do that, then I won’t be willing to think of you as my cousin, even in my eyes you are nothing more than rotten filth that must be exterminated immediately!”

Jonathan was forced by Philip to kiss Amaris’ feet. But Jonathan’s head continued to resist Philip’s coercion. Until finally, Jonathan turned his face. The shiny shoe hit Jonathan’s cheek.

“F*ck you! You selfless trash! Why are you so arrogant to admit how lowly you are, trash!”

“I’m not trash!”

“You are trash!”

“No!” retorted Jonathan.

“Just watch, John. It only takes time for Elissa to realize her stupidity in marrying you. You can’t be relied on, I’ll introduce Elissa to the ranks of rich businessmen, then Elissa will leave you!”

Amaris and Philip again pushed Jonathan until he was almost hit by a sedan car after the two of them forcibly dragged Jonathan out of the Weldien residence.

Jonathan stuttered, trying to get up from his fallen position. But suddenly a blinding light like lightning hit and enveloped him.

“Do you need money? Do you need wealth?”

An old man in a white robe came closer to Jonathan who still covered his eyes which were dazzling.

“Yes.”  Jonathan answered with certainty.

“Wear this necklace, keep this gold card for you. These two things should never leave your hands and they will gradually stick and unite with you. Once you receive these two items, then your fate will change. You will be the richest man with wealth that will never run out for hundreds of your descendants. You can do whatever you wanted to do all along, you will get everything!”

Jonathan was like a fool, he was silent then the light suddenly went away. Jonathan immediately checked his chest, a gold necklace with a key pendant, and a gold card with his name on it. Jonathan didn’t know what those two cards were for. But suddenly there was a call that succeeded in making Jonathan turn his head.

“Mr. Enstein, we are your right hand. We will obey and we are ready to do whatever you order.”
