Chapter Eight: I didn't mean to

Early next morning, Jason made his way to Paradise Resort Island to attend the wedding.

Without noticing, he passed a military SUV driving in the opposite direction.

The imposing vehicle rolled to a halt in front of a luxurious villa.

From the passenger seat emerged a man who embodied the essence of military authority. He was dressed in a well-pressed uniform.

His chiseled features were stern beneath the brim of his hat, and his eyes were sharp, giving off the gaze of one who had numerous people under his command.

“Dad!” Gabriella yelled as she rushed out of the villa.

Her face lit up with a mix of relief.

“Where’s your grandfather?” Robin asked.

“He hasn’t woken up yet,” Gabriella replied.

“Where's the fraud?” Robin’s jaw clenched at the mention of Jason’s name. “That fool has no idea who he’s dealing with.”

Gabriella wasted no time, she pulled out her phone and quickly dialed Jason’s number.

"Where are you, Jason?" She questioned, her voice laced with anger.

"Why are you asking?" He asked in a firm but calm tone.

"Someone wants to see you, so you have to come to the house immediately. " She said.

Jason let out a light chuckle. "Well, I am at Paradise Resort Island. So anyone who wants to see me can come over," He said.

Robin frowned.

Gabriella had put the call on speaker so her father could hear everything.

Before Gabriella could say anything else, Jason ended the call.

Robin's face darkened.

“He asked me to come to him!” He said, his tone filled with disbelief and fury. “He’s the first person to have the audacity to summon me.”

Without another word, Robin climbed back into the SUV.

“Take me to Paradise Resort Island, now,” he ordered his driver, his voice cold and firm.

As the SUV roared back to life, Gabriella stood by the villa's entrance, a small satisfied smile playing on her lips.

“Jason’s about to get what’s coming to him,” she thought to herself, feeling a twisted sense of justice.

Gabriella went back to the villa. Stepping into the living room, she was struck by the sight of her grandfather, Robert.

His arms were in the air, doing a circular rotation, while his feet were tangled in a knot.

"Grandfather, please don’t do this. You don't have to listen to Jason’s words. The doctor said you're getting better. But if you continue to do this, even the best medicine won’t help you!” She pleaded.

Robert looked up at her with cold eyes, his expression unreadable. “Do you really believe it’s the medicine that’s making me better, Gabriella?” he replied, his tone clipped.

“It is Grandpa. Yesterday the doctor credited your recovery to the medicine,” Gabriella saide.

Robert retrieved a small box from his shoe rack.

When he opened it, she was taken aback by the sight of countless bottles neatly packed inside.

"Aren't these your medications, Grandpa? Why do they look like they haven't been used?" She questioned.

"That's because they haven't," Robert said to her.

Gabriella was confused.

“I was tired of taking these endless streams of pills” Robert said, his voice heavy with frustration.

He let out a sigh as he glanced at Gabriella, whose eyes widened in shock.

“Is it really true that Jason’s methods were what improved your health?” Gabriella asked hesitantly.

 “Yes, it is. ”

Gabriella's shoulders slumped. A wave of guilt washed over her.

"What have I done?" She muttered.

"What do you mean, Gabby?" Robert asked her.

“I’m sorry, Grandpa. If I had known, I wouldn’t have let Dad go after Jason. ”

Robert’s demeanor shifted dramatically. Anger flickered in his eyes as he barked at her.

“You better make sure nothing happens to Jason, Gabriella! If he is harmed in any way, I will expel both you and your father from this family!”

Gabriella's heart sank as she absorbed his words.

Without hesitation, Gabriella rushed to grab her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed Robin’s number.

“Dad, you need to stop this!” she thought, but her call didn’t go through.
