Alan gave himself a self pity smile and looked down at his listless legs. He brought this upon himself.

While growing up, he had been taught life was all about money and power. There was no end to it so even if you have money and power, you should still strive to get more.

That was what led him to Anna. It didn't matter if there was no love between them as long as she could provide what he wanted.

Perhaps, that is why he was unable to stay faithful in their marriage.

"I'm doing better," He hid his sad smile and looked up at Jed. "Thank you."

An uncomfortable silence filled the room and Alan spoke up, "How are you doing?"

He looked at Jed guiltily. The latter still looked pale considering he had been unconscious for months.

He shook his head. He knows Anna was vicious but didn't expect she would go to great lengths to poison him and try to murder his son to get what she wants.

"I'll survive."

Jed's response made him even more guilty. If he could move, he would be clenching his fists. H
