Chapter 1: In a Quest for Power

"Josh, oh! Josh if i had a knife, with me Right now I swear to God I would stab you to death without blinking an eye" Morgan yelled as she shot him a deadly glare that sent chills to his Body. It seems so obvious that she really meant her words.

Hearing this words from someone he loves very much and someone he married, he felt like a dagger was deeply stab into his heart, he just could not help but grit his teeth, hardly as Anger just washed all over him.

"Morgan I am trying my best, what do you want from me?" he was trying everything in his power to make sure that he does not raise a voice at her even though he knew that she was throwing hurtful words at him.

Life has never been easy on him, facing a lot of crisis and frustration, it really made him weak and broken and he hated it more than anything.

"Money, Care, Be useful. Spend on me like how other men spend on their woman, their wives, their girlfriend! That's what I want from you, this was not what I thought when I married you, you are nothing but a shameful, Useless and disgraceful man who can't even pay attention to his woman's needs, you are nothing but a useless piece of trash and I am nothing but tired of you!" She was very much pissed at him, as she glared daggers at him. Morgan hated that she married a poor man, it made her angry and it increased her Hatred towards him.

"This marriage is for better and for worst, and as my wife you are supposed to support me, Stand by me through my hard times not criticize me, even though the world speaks against me you are not suppose to act like them because you are my wife" His words where full of nothing but pain. In his hard times all he truly needed was someone who would support him, cheer him up and tell him that he can achieve his goals but it was the opposite of everything he wanted that he got.

She scoffed as she rolled her eyes to the fullest as she said with a frown on her face while her hand was placed on her waist. "For better and for worst? haha... you must be kidding me, You should know right from the beginning that I did not mean any of those stupid wedding vows, You are useless and I need a man who is powerful, and rich , wealthy. You can't even afford to take me out on an expensive date, so tell me does that make you a man or a freaking woman? I am literally the head of the house you are just a lot girl who wants to be fed, Don’t you know?" she paused, Josh, took a couple of deep breaths.

"Hmm? Answer me you Stupid Man! I have warned you and I promise you that soon, I won't be known as your wife, because you are a disgrace to me. Look at all my friends with their rich husbands who could take care of them, pamper them, buy them expensive cars but you huh? you can't even afford to buy a car tire. I wonder if you bewitched me when I got married to you" Josh chuckled Sadly, sadness could be spotted in his eyes, it was very much obvious that he was so much hurt.

"You know, if you can't take care of me I will find a rich man who will take care of me, I just can't do this anymore. I really can't do this anymore" she shook her head, walking to and fro around the room.

"I am sorry that I am not rich like other men. I am sorry that I am not how you want me to be. I am doing everything i can to be the best for you but at this moment I don't think arguing with you is the best thing that needs to happen. Now please excuse me I have somewhere to go" He explained as he Walked past her, approaching the door, but she ran to the door, and blocked his path, stopping him from exiting the room.

"And where in the world do you think you are going? Huh? I am talking to you, so don't you dare think that you Have the stupid right to walk away from me, I am now the man in this relationship because the so Called Joshua who is so supposed to be the man in this relationship is weak, Poor, An idiot and a loser" This rang in his ear, Josh was Getting so much angry and he was having it to the fullest.

"Morgan please step away from the door. please Morgan or els.. "

" or else what? huh? tell Me Josh, or else what? are you going to hit me? beat me up? What will you do?" Josh who was trying his possible best to not raise his voice at her, firmly grabbed her by the hands as he softly moved her to the other side. Moving her away from the door as he walked away and closed the door, banging the door loudly. The anger he felt was very, very much boiling. as he left the house he stopped a taxi man.

"Take me, to Tech and Digital co-operation" he got in and soon the Taxi man was on his way, taking him to his location, in the next few minutes, the Taxi man stopped Infront of the company. Josh got down, paid the Taxi man as he walked into the Company with his head u high, praying for the best. He was a bit late to his appointment but he thanked his stars that he was not that late, just five minutes late. Josh was a very brilliant, intelligent and handsome man.

Josh was from Chicago, he has spent most of his life there, he had a calming nice aura with a pair of crystal blue eyes, a nice short Brown hair that has little strings of his hair on his face. He is about Six fit tall, Has a really nice body build, he was good looking.

Stoping in front of the receptionist Desk , he asked with a smile.

"Excuse me ma, Good morning"

The Receptionist Looked at him, when she heard his voice there was a smile on her face but when she raised her face and looked at him it was replaced with a frown or more of a questioning Gaze. His voice did not match his appearance at all, She was expecting a man in a rich suit but what she saw was not what she expected.

"How can I help you?" she asked in the most rude way, it actually surprised Josh just a bit because he was used that kind of attitude towards him.

"I want to see, Miss Katherine" He mentioned as he ignored her attitude towards him.

"And you are?" the Receptionist, raised a brow while giving him A head to toe Full body Check.

"Josh"

"Josh what? You don't have a Surname or what?" She asked

"Josh Mike" He smiled and said to her, she gave him another look from head to toe.

"Do you have a scheduled appointment with her?" She paused and laughed as she Added "Never Of course, Why am I even asking. I am certain that someone looking like you would never have an appointment with someone like her or you are applying for a job to be her house cleaner" she scoffed as she rolled her Eyes.

"Ma'am I don't think I have a written scheduled appointment with her but she informed me to see her, please can you kindly just let her know that I am here to see her? I beg of you" He remained polite despite her attitude

"Mr Josh or what so ever you call yourself, I would advice you to leave this place immediately" she spatted out, irked by his presence but Josh refused to go Anywhere.

"ma'am at least please just help me tell her. Tell her that I here to see her then if she does not want me to see her I will know and I will leave"

He uttered, with a light frown resting on his face.

"Let me help her do that for you, she does not want to see you, please leave now"

"I am not going anywhere" Josh said, he was not leaving until he sees Katherine, He had a meet up with her and it is very important to him so there is no way he would miss that opportunity, not even in his wildest dreams.

When she saw that he had no intention to Leave

she Warned "Leave now or else you won't like me" She sighed "Listen, What so ever you call yourself, This place is only for people who are of High class. Even the Cleaner here is more better looking than you, and you are nothing but a liar who wants attention, So please leave before I can security on you"

Joshua was Shocked with what she said, She had just degraded him without knowing him.

"I am not leaving because I am here to see your Boss, Please call her for me. I don't see a deal with that, you don't know the type of relationship I have with her" He refused to leave, she got fustrated and fed up so she began to call for the security man.

" Security! Security! please come and take this man out of here"

Two men in Black suits walked up to Josh

" is he bothering you Mrs Stephanie?"

"Yes he is, he wants to force his way in here and he was close to harassing me, please throw him out of here" She had a frown on her face

Josh was surprised of her accusation

" I just came to see Mrs Katherine, I have an appointment with her and she won't let me get to her, I clearly did nothing Wrong here"

"Sir I have to ask you to come with us" they grabbed Josh's Hands

" let go of me now" Josh said in a raised voice

" I did nothing wrong, let go of me" he yelled again but no other was minding him instead the people around there were mostly laughing at him. He could not help but feel humiliated and embarrassed.

"What in the World is going on here?" Someone said from behind, immediately all the laughter and mumbling died down as everyone got back to work.

Josh Face brightened up, immediately.

"Katherine"

"Josh? No wonder, I was wondering where you were, I was almost about to go out and look for you" Kathrine smiled at him, lovely.

"So what is going on here? "

"Ma'am I... " the Receptionist tried to speak but Katherine raises her finger, Shushing Stephanie up.

"I was not speaking to you, Josh what happened?" Josh took a couple of deep breaths as he looked at the receptionist who was already scared to her bones when she realized that she might get fired, Josh who knew Kathrine just smiled and said "Nothing, you don't have to worry, can we please go to your office now?" he heard a soft Sigh. He could not help to be the reason the Stephanie would be fired

"are you sure?" Katherine looked at the woman with a suspicious look and a smirk on her lips.

"Yes I am, Katherine" he said, she slightly Nodded "Let's go then" She said and Josh walked with her to her office but when they got to the elevator, Kathrine said in a very low but dangerous voice to the guard

"Tell Stephanie that she is fired and if I see her in this building in the next one minute she would be dead" she smirked as the security man walked away, She got in the elevator and that was how they arrived at the 20th floor.

When the elevator door Opened, They both of them stepped out of the elevator.

She seemed excited to be with him. As she stared at him in a seductive way. when they got to her office she locked the door as she walked up to him and place her hands around his neck

"When will you stop having a good heart Josh? The earlier You realize that humanity is no where to be found on earth, the better for you" She was dead serious,

"I cannot believe you tried to cover up for that Woman. She was disrespectful to you, who knows, She would be nice to Everyone now" She whispered in his ears but Josh removed her hand that was placed around his neck and questioned her with a frown

"What is the point of having an evil heart or a cold heart?"

"You shield yourself from getting hurt, Joshua. People would not try to mess with you or try to take advantage of you" She chuckled as she softly walked to her Desk and leaned on it, her smooth white things came in view. He acted as if he could not see what she was doing, It did not have his best interest.

"I see, Kathrine..."

"It makes me happy when you call my name like that, Josh... Miller" She called his last name with a smile but that brought a frown immediately on his face.

"Do not call me that, It's Josh Mike not Miller" she chuckled, as she took a picture frame on her table

"You are still the same"

"Don't expect me too change"

"I need you too, Josh" Josh did not say anything, he took a shot.

"I know that you don't want me around you but as well as you want to live this life, you cannot escape your realty" She chuckled as she stood up from the table and walked up to him. She ran her fingers in his hair while sitting next to him, slightly Crossing her leg.

"Are you trying to seduce me, Kathrine?"
