HELEN

Helen was a typical description of an intelligent and goal-setter girl. She hated bullies and she hated to be bullied and this always got her in trouble. At age 12 she was already in junior high school and at age 14 she was already through with high school. Helen had gotten herself lots of awards to keep her in school.

Her parents were from Yale state, not rich but well-to-do. While her dad was a contractor, her mum was a civil servant. Helen had siblings, she was the third out of four. Paul, Jason, and Catherine. Catherine was the first, followed by Paul and Jason came after Helen. But none were like Helen.

Today was Cathy's wedding day, and Helen was worst in regards to fashion. Tired of checking through her wardrobe, she decided to wear a Jean and a big top. She heard steps behind her but was focused on her outfits.

"No Helen, you are not wearing that on my day", Cathy said as she entered her baby sister's room. "Aww, Sister you know I hate gowns", Helen replied immediately before she realized her sister was trying to hide something behind her. "Well, I got this for you while shopping for my wedding dress, and I hope you love it because you must wear it ", Cathy replied, this time winking at her sister.

It was a pink gown made of net and a long one at that. Helen hated the gown but on her sister's day, she didn't just want to be different so she took it to try it on.

"It fits you, Helen, you owe me a lot, am off let me leave you with your makeup ", Cathy said while walking away hurriedly. "That reminds me Helen dear, don't think of wearing sneakers on that gown". Cathy raised her eyebrow at her. "But..... But....". What her sister said startled her and she wished she could defend herself. "No, but, just do it". Cathy commanded.

To Helen, the gown was too expensive and long. She needed something short, so she could dance well. At the age of 22, Helen's wardrobe was still monitored by her sister, she was excited her sister would be out of the house for good which meant out of her way.

"Helen, I can see your gown is beautiful ", her father said while walking in.

"Thanks, Dad", Helen replied with a fake smile. "You should hurry, the ceremony starts in 30 minutes and I would want you to pick more champagnes from the shop, so hurry". Her father instructed.

Helen was happy to take off the gown for a minute, she immediately changed to her boyish look and drove out to get the champagne.

In Yale state, she loved the busy environment and saw the significance of her homeland. The cashier clicked her back to her present state as she requested good wines. She was led and left to pick her choice. After 5mins of deciding which to pick she noticed three boys of her guesses would be between 29 and to 30years pointing in her direction and laughing. Remembering it was her sister's wedding, she envied the boy's luck and walked past them to pay the cashier and hurried off before she acted stupidly. She sped almost immediately she started the car.

After placing the wines on the table she hurriedly went to change. She fixed a light makeup and dashed out. Her sister looked most beautiful as ever, her two brothers' bad mouths were nothing to contend with so she walked past them. She wondered if ever she would arrive at the position her sister was currently in. Eddy was not ready for marriage, she knew it, but was hopeful he would get mature sooner.

She got tensed seeing the crowd, but the tension reduced as her four friends approached her, Charles, Robbin, Bobby, and Laycon, her boyfriend was late as usual but she got her friends. They were all her age mates but Helen was higher in class. She had a steady income from Australia pacesetters scholarship every month, she had a ride as a gift from her school abroad is one of the best, and she had a mansion with its foundation set.

"What's up Hello", Laycon teased her, "I can see you have added." Please, don't start Laycon, it's just the dress", she answered smiling.

Charles, Laycon, Bobby, and Robbin were the only friends Helen had. Helen never kept female company. Helen had a female friend before, more beautiful than her, so it wasn't her fault Helen's ex-boyfriend was snatched from her. Having male friends made it so much better for Helen, her father never liked the idea, but for his daughter, he agreed.

"Hey, Helen where is your bae, I can't see him around?" Charles asked after sitting down.

"He's on his way", Helen replied defensively.

"He must be behind your dressing pretty today, I must say you look good". Robbin admiringly commented.

"Robbin, stop your teasing, to be frank, Cathy forced this on me", she instantly confessed. "Hey guys, I was thinking we should go on a picnic, like a get-together ". She said after some time, not minding the loud sound of music.

"Are you asking the four of us on a date", Charles replied smiling sheepishly as everybody laughed at his statement.

"No, you bighead, just a form of hanging out between ourselves, no outsiders just us, say like our personal honeymoons", she stated.

"Okay am in", Charles voiced out just as the rest chorused along.

The party lasted for a long because her sister, Cathy, the notorious dancer could not stop dancing. Helen envied her sister a lot because while her sister was fun to be with, Helen was so boring to be with, to some extent she wondered how her four musketeers coped with her and it was the same reason she wanted a picnic with them.

She didn't miss the entrance of Eddy as he stopped her from her deep thoughts. Eddy though coming late, forgave him for she loved him more than anything else. Most girls murmured at Eddy's appearance.

Eddy was fair in complexion was cute, and had the body of an athlete, he talked with a seductive smile stamped on his face that even if you wish to get angry at him, you just could not. Eddy's hair was so shiny and relaxed for he kept an Afro style, one would think he adores his hair far more than his body. But it all stopped at his description because Eddy had no wealth compared to Helen, Eddy lived in a house paid for by Helen, even the car he drove. Though most times, he carried her out on a date but a blue moon.

"Hello honey, sorry I came late, the traffic was something else ", he said as he kissed her on the cheek. "It's okay, it is good you are here, say hello to my friends ", she replied smiling. He shook their hands as he sat down.

Cathy's wedding was strictly by invitation, the invitees were nothing more than three hundred people. Cathy appeared excited and on several occasions winked at Helen. Helen knew missing her sister would be an understatement, but she would miss her. Eddy looked uncomfortable since he stepped into the party, but Helen could not point out why. Helen drank soft drinks on her sister's wedding day while her boyfriend drank alcohol. She sensed something wrong but could not say. Eddy stood up to dance without asking Helen up, this embarrassed her but she did not show it since her four friends were over her. While Laycon made her smile, Charles made her blush, and Bobby and Robbin kept her smile.

The wedding ended with a smooth atmosphere, Helen was relieved to have a private chat with Eddy. She could see already that Eddy was drunk. After whispering to her dad goodbye, she ran off without hearing his reply and helped Eddy into the car with the help of her friends. Speeding off, she drove down to Eddy's house.

He was half asleep when she woke him up and he staggers and walked himself to the house. Helen slept off without further pronouncement. She woke up to the ringing phone, it was Eddy's call, she was so tempted to switch off the phone and sleep off or ignore it. But she could not do either, it's been a long she had checked his phone.

"I am lonely honey", a female voice at the other end of the call was saying.

Immediately, Helen ended the call. She could not believe her ears and wished all were jokes. Her boyfriend can never cheat on her. Still, she was pissed and immediately wore her clothes and drove home.

Helen knew how impossible it was to break up with Eddy, but her gut told her he was cheating, her gut smelt another woman's perfume on him, her gut never lied. Helen was a lady with evidence, so she had a plan, though she knew it would hurt so deep, she would make the plan anyways and let it hurt her.
