Helen intentionally did not kill Eddy. It had been a week now since she confronted Eddy with his side chick. She was hurt and knew Eddy deserved more than a broken head, but the highest she could do was the scar she gave to him. She heard Eddy had run off with the car she bought for him. She refused to go out since then and ate only when her friends came around.
Her friends now took duty in checking up on her. If Robbin came today, the next day was Laycon visiting. They kept on reminding her about their planned picnic the next month to ease her pains. She was relaxed each moment she thought of her private picnic with her friends. Helen though reduced drastically in weight, her friends remained her tonic and drive towards life. Her parents had tried making her happy but their plans never worked for her. She could hear Charles's voice from downstairs, she wondered what he was doing in her house so early."Hello from the other side", Charles teased Helen as he walked into her room. "How are you feeling? " He asked."Not bad, am I safe this one you came this early, it's just 7a.m, did you have a fight with your babe", she asked him faking s worried face."Fight? No, why should we fight? ". Seeing her mood changing at the sound of why he and his girlfriend should fight, he changed the conversation. " Anyways, I came to borrow money from you, and it's okay if you say no, just have some debts on my neck to pay for ", Charles admiringly eyed her."How much are we talking about here Charles? " she asked." One million, I promise to pay back month end", he defensively answered."No, don't worry, no refunds, I will give you 1.5million, let me give you now ". She replied as she got her checkbook from her side stool."Wow, thank you so much, Helen, what can I do without you", he excitedly replied to her. He stayed for an extra hour with Helen before leaving.***"Have you set up another plan", a deep voice from the call asked."Yes", Charles's soft voice replied. "She should be having a new date sooner than she thinks ", he immediately added."She won't know what's coming at her, she should not know what hit her, if she feels she can buy everything with her wealth, let's see what becomes of her without a man in her life", the deep voice confidently replied."Not to be worried", everything is handled, just do your part, be at the picnic", immediately, Charles switched off the phone and drove off.***Helen sat at the bed figuring out her next move her two brothers were out, as usual, playing golf, her parents had gone out on a date for two days now, but she was not worried for she knew they could handle themselves. She was 23, and she needed a house on her own, though she knew she could occupy the one given to Eddy, memories were what she was running from. She could remember the surprised look on Eddy's face when she had caught them both, she remembered that defiant looks like he was right to cheat. Helen wished everything could be different for her, her friends were married and she was the one left out. She didn't want any guy after her money, she wanted a guy who can woo her even without money. She did not even want a handsome person, even if he was ugly, she still would not mind. While having this contemplation, the sound of her phone brought her back to the present. It was her alarm for her gyming class, she immediately got up and went in to shower. Thirty minutes she was all set, rushed for her car keys, but on a second thought dropped it back, she would race to the place and if tired she would take a cab, she thought and left for her class. She started jogging from the gate, not minding the noise for she was on the earpiece. Helen's family stayed at Yale, one of the busiest states in Europe and a place where she would never want to reside. Helen noticing she was in a crowded environment decided to increase her pace not noticing the crawling child at her front, trying to avoid hitting the child she used her shoulder to hit another, she was so scared for the child and hoped he was alright, thank God moving vehicles were not around. That moment she remembered she had hit someone instead, looking up she saw a figure that made her heart skip, she could not tell how hearts skip but this time, she was so sure her heart had skipped and for a second she tried catching her breath for she noticed his left hand was on her shoulder and his right hand on her waist, like he was trying to prevent a fall. He was fair in complexion with the body of an athlete, he was handsome and had the smile of a sailor. She felt his wet hands behind her which shook her into reality. "Sorry, watch your step young lady before you hurt yourself" he immediately said "Am so sorry I guess it's due to stress", she tried smiling though found herself a little shaky. "Stress? This morning? Well, I will advise you to quit jogging out till you get yourself back together Mrs.....?""Helen". She completed. "Thanks for your kind gesture, I should be on my way now", She added as she avoided letting him know she was single. Seeing, he was looking through her for evidence of marriage, she immediately walked passed him."Ummmm...Helen? Sorry if my words offended, I am Michael, pleased to meet you", he smiled"Same here," she ran off without looking back. ***She just started the gymning class with full expectations her wild thoughts about Eddy would die. She noticed she was thirty mins early for the class, seeing about five people sitting inside she decided to relax but avoided any form of interaction with them. She still felt his hands behind her, his scent still hovered around her, and the picture of his smile showed clearly in her head. She wondered why a mere stranger who she mistakenly bumped into her should have her thinking about him.Just as she was about to pick a song on her to change her thoughts, she saw him, still, on his work tracks, he was standing just at the door. Just immediately he faced Helen's direction, Helen looked down hoping she was not caught staring at him or seen at all. All through the classes, she made sure she stayed hidden as a spirit. She didn't like the feeling and felt unsecured. She saw herself admiring his body, he looked like an athlete and didn't look like a student in the gym class, he looked like....oh God pls let it not be. Thoughts suddenly rumbled into her head."Today, we going to learn thrusting forward and backward with your knee while you use your two hands on the floor to support it". The voice which disturbed her thoughts sounded familiar and was forced to look up to see and just immediately their eyes met, seeing he was smiling at her with apologetic eyes she immediately turned her face away shyly. She could not believe she had to cope with this smiling guy till the class was over, she had forgotten her instructor had stated in the last class that he would be traveling and so would have a replacement to take over.Helen found herself blushing every minute she turned to look in his direction. The last thing she wanted was a feeling for this guy when she had not even gotten over her last breakup."Okay guys, we got to do this like push-ups but not entirely, but your two hands should both be on standby on the ground, your left leg should be stretched outward while you try to stand with it, bringing your right leg forward and backward. Now can we try it out?"Helen was trying to compose herself, she was trying to act at her best, she wasn't going to show how weak she was, the attitude was all she was going to give him, both outside the gymning class and inside. She could see he was an excellent instructor but was not going to fall for that.Today's exercise was not as difficult as her old instructor was, maybe it was because it was his first day. She thought."Helen, I can see you are doing yours excellently, can you come and show the rest of us". He stretched his hand at her.She was taken aback upon hearing her name called and more shocked as to how he got to know her name. "No, thank you," she immediately replied trying to hide her blush."It was not a request Helen". Immediately she knew she could not argue anymore and reluctantly got up. She felt embarrassed coming out, but had no choice, she would prove him wrong. For the next thirty minutes, she saw herself instructing the women and even some new moves and didn't take note that the new instructor was watching her admiringly.****"Damn, she is beautiful and too bold". he muttered to himself. He had intentionally hit her while she was doing workouts earlier, he wanted her attention. She always took that route and planned that one day she would notice him, but she didn't, he had to bring in a plan which worked luckily. Now here she was doing exercises at his front. He knew she had a boyfriend but needed to be sure before telling her his intentions. He could no longer concentrate in his class and he could not stop stealing a glimpse at her. Just immediately he rounded up the class he was already behind her, while she was greeting her friends. The minute she turned he could see how shocked she was and taken aback.***She could see him at the front of the class. It had already ended and so was relieved she could escape. After greeting her colleagues she made her way to escape but was startled he was just behind her and got nowhere to escape."Ughhhh....you are blocking my way", she stated immediately, "Oh yeah I know that, I am Jason, and you are...?" " Mind your business," she said as she tried walking past but was blocked by him again. "Sorry, but I cannot let you go, till I got your name." "So we sleep here then". She waited while he reluctantly let her pass and she immediately went back to chat up with her friends.Charles, Robbin, Bobby, and Laycon had never been friends. Something brought them together. In character, they were opposite as well as their thoughts. Charles, the darkest and slight slim figure of them all was a gambler, though nobody knew about it, it was the only side of him he kept secrets. He could do anything for gambling whether he won or not. Charles was not a fan of drinking or smoking but enjoyed winning in gambling.Robbin never gambled but loved smoking. Though it never showed in his appearance, it always showed in his outdoor friends. A packet of cigarettes was too small for Robbin, only when he was too tired he have the one packet in his system. He kept to himself, he was the definition of a slow poison.Bobby's weakness was women but a selective one at that. He had eyes only for the big-sized endowments, he hated skinny and so would ignore them. Bobby was the most popular, not only was he handsome but he was loved by the women.Laycon above all was the simplest, though
"What happened to him?""Am on my, which hospital?"She immediately scribbled something down with the pen and paper she had brought out from her back.Helen was in total awe hearing about what happened to Charles, she had to round up her gymnastics before going to the hospital. She was absent-minded throughout the remaining workout. Getting herself back to normal was not at all easy since her breakup with Eddy, her sister though married was more of a help to her. Her instructor in the gymnasium seemed to be good on the part of the distraction."What is wrong" The masculine voice came from behind and was so close to her as she turned to look at him, she could feel his breath and could smell his sweat which was that vanilla scent She was taken unawares and didn't notice his approach, she wondered if he was sent to disturb her life to leave this world. His closeness to her got her shaky and perturbed, she hated that feeling. "Am perfectly fine, thank you" She needed the pretense, the l
Something did not seem right with Charles, Helen being sensitive could hear her guts telling her out loud but she decided not to press further since he could handle it. She didn't know where to start from in the house chores, as her laundry was piling up so were the dishes in the kitchen. Helen never entertained visitors, though she is an outdoor person she still could not risk letting people know who she is. The only two important groups of people that knew her place was her relations and her four best friends.Helen was just about to get to work when her phone rang, she noticed it was a private number and wondered why the person would hide his number from her, it was strange."Ya, who is this? Yea that's me".The voice she heard across the phone sounded familiar which she could not just place."I am fine, thank you. Are you going to reveal yourself and why your number is hidden?" The person sounded stubborn in revealing his identity "Mtchhhheeeew". Helen hissed so loudly as she hun
The sun on most Saturdays was not as high as today, it was as if she should go to do her workout in a bikini, she could not even go for her jogging else the sun would tear off her skin. She took up her keys and dashed off, it had been a long she drove to the gymnasium.Parking outside was not at all stressful, going to an appointment early was her watchword. Before she could reach for the door, a stronger hand brushed her hand and opened the door, bowing his head in a gesture for her to enter. She was still trying to know who he was, he raised his head that minute, and they could feel the tension in the atmosphere, especially Helen who was taken unawares."Ummmmm...sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you again""I accept it's my fault""Don't tell me you are stalking me" Helen defensively stated trying as much as possible to throw away her soft spot."Now we are talking about stalking, can I ask you out""No""Come on, it's nothing, just wanna know you more", Michael explained feigning
His alarm got him awake, not that he was sleeping so deep, he had a restless night having her all over his thoughts. It was the weekend he was going to meet her one-on-one in a quiet place for the first time. Merely thinking about her got him arose, as he stood up he wore his slippers and headed for his wardrobe and wondered about the outfit that would best please her.He hurriedly took his bath as he planned on getting there twenty minutes before she arrived. ***'Helen was going to meet a strange'. This statement kept ringing in her head, her heart didn't take him as a stranger which got her wondering while the rest of her body took him as one.She had just finished combing her hair, she decided to wear her ball blue gown which her sister for her on her birthday. At first, she was confused if it was a date she was going for or just strolling, and right there decided Cathy's gift was the best outfit to wear in between the confusion. Her phone immediately beeped, she picked it up an
"How did you know I stay here?" She asked in a sleepy voice."Let me say you got a stalker". Michael responded the moment he stopped the car. He couldn't tell her he had known where she stayed since they bumped into each other."But this isn't your house". She looked at him with a questionable gaze while he climbed out to open her side of the door."I know but I want your comfort". He gave her a warm smile. With her drunken state, he would rather walk home on foot than take advantage of her. She had weight more than he expected, he thought to himself as he lifted her into the house. He couldn't help but pause in astonishment at the beauty of her house, he had acknowledged the fact that she was one with good taste. He didn't know where her room was, and with his leg, he kicked the door closed."My room is by the right". She responded like she read his mind, her voice was low as she felt weak.He hurriedly followed her direction, the passage which led to her room was carefully packed wi
"Hello". He answered with a sleepy voice, the phone had rung up twice before he picked it up."Michael, it's me". The excitement from Helen's voice had cleared up the little sleep left in his eyes."Did I wake you up?""Ugh- not really". He didn't want her to feel guilty waking him up."You're such a terrible liar". She chuckles at him.He had been caught, he silently gave out relief she understood him."I want you to meet my friends". She gave up the suspense."What!" He found himself almost screaming."Is anything wrong? You know you can tell me". "No nothing, just trying to express the happiness I feel". He kicked himself for telling a lie again."Good. So I'll come to pick you up by 4 then"."That's great". He could give an excuse at the moment, but then she would realize he was lying to her. She wouldn't even believe him in the first place about his suspicion that her friends were not who they were. He had seen one of them in the gym and didn't like the way his stares were and
"You're not looking good, we could go back if you want". She turned to catch a glance at him.'Yes, we should'. He said to himself without letting her hear him. "I'm okay". He tried to muster enough words out of his mouth, probably he was thinking too much and he was wrong, he thought to himself."How have been pulling things through Helen?"Michael had heard one of them ask Helen, he looked at the plate of rice that had just been served, he no longer had the appetite."He's been helping". She brushed his shoulder lightly."That's good, right". Charles faced his friends this time.Michael sensed they were mocking him with their tone, it was like they didn't want Helen to feel bad."That's right". He heard the others murmur. The silence stung him as he tried to imagine what they were up to in their heads."So you work at the gym?" Robbin asked while he played with the toothpick in his mouth, his eyes fixed on it."Ya, I do". Michael felt the words stuck in his throat."You date your cl
"You sure this looks okay?" Michael asked his cousin whom he had woken up from bed."You should remember am not your girlfriend my dear couz". He stated as he rolled to the other side of the bed while he stretched his body."You're just jealous and trust me, you'll miss me". Michael gave out a wicked laugh."I can never miss you, not now or ever". Ferdinand gave Michael a disgusted look."We will see about that". Michael had staggered home with his cousin almost forgetting where he had dropped the key to the house. They both woke up and pretended as if nothing happened."I would stroll to the gym once I'm done here"."Trust me you would love the place". Michael winked at his cousin."Like I haven't been there before". Ferdinand felt Michael's line of the job was the most boring though he found it difficult to forget about Helen. She was elegant and beautiful, he had given Michael his word to forget about her but not the vacation.Just then the phone rang, Michael had gone to change hi
"Good morning". He had noticed the slight change in the behavior of his cousin since he got back from the date he had with Helen."Ya". He kept his head low on his system, the last person he wanted to talk to was Ferdinand. He was lucky he wasn't caught in the act."I'm going on vacation with you". He announced, he didn't care if he heard or not."We'll see about that?" Michael got up and headed for the bathroom, a cold bath was all he wanted."No, I'm serious". He lifted his hand to touch Michael who had already pushed his hand off and gave out a punch to his face which sent Ferdinand staggering to the ground.Ferdinand touched his nose to feel his blood drop almost immediately, he feared he had broken his nose."You would do no such, we agreed you would stay here in New York and watch the gym". He tried his best to control the breath he had taken in so as not to explode."You've always told me what to do and decided the friends I make, why can't you let me make this one"."You know
He couldn't help it, he pretended to be asleep, the moment he heard the door closed he ran out to see Ferdinand drive his car at speed. Without a second thought, he entered his second car which he barely made use of, he carefully followed his cousin, he couldn't afford to reveal himself. He had to make sure his cousin never harmed Helen, though he knew his cousin was the safest person on earth.Michael knew Helen's house without any description so he got to her house before Ferdinand got to her. He immediately switched off his car ignition to avoid attention while he quietly watched Ferdinand drive to the front of Helen's house.***Ferdinand watched in astonishment as Helen stepped out from the house, her yellow gown which was below her knew brought out the exquisite beauty in her. He shook the thought from his head as he stepped out of the car to assist her in opening her side of the seat."I'm helpless with words right now, pardon me". He was almost stammering."Is everything okay?
Ferdinand had always felt Yale state was a sight to behold, he had never wanted to leave this place but for his uncle who valued education more than anything. They had allowed Michael to stay here since he had an interest in sports and body build-up. He saw it difficult to catch up with Michael, instead, he rested his back on the car while he filled his eyes with the environment. He enjoyed what he saw but he didn't notice the man that approached him."Are you looking for someone?" The man asked calmly.Ferdinand observed that he should be in his mid forty and security as well."No, I came with Michael". He gave a wink to the man who recognized the name."He should be in the office".Ferdinand nodded his head as he wondered how many people were in charge of the place."Any problem"."No". He turned around to know the feminine voice he had heard."Michael?" She stood dumbfounded, he looked odd in the way he looked."Not Michael, that's my cousin. I'm Ferdinand". He gave out his hand to
"Hello, hello". He found it difficult to hear the voice from the other end, it felt like the person had intentionally kept quiet to observe. "Hello". He found himself almost shouting, the worst was that the call had almost made him slip from the bathroom while rushing to pick it up."We are watching you, Mich".The coarse voice didn't scare him, the name the caller had called him was scary, nobody knew him by that name. Except someone had leaked him out, he tried mustering enough courage."Who are you?" He felt his voice a little shaky but had a little grip on it."Just mind your business and stay away from her". Immediately the call hung up.Michael felt his anger rising but there was nothing to distract him from it. He didn't know if he should go to the gym or trace the call. A thought came into his head as he picked up the phone and dialed Helen, at least making sure she was safe."Hey, how are you?" He asked as he tried his best to bury the curiosity he felt rising."Am fine, abo
