ASHELY'S POV
I looked at my so called boyfriend, as I've been doing for a long time now, and it hurts to know of his betrayal.I don't even know what to say, or how to answer him on how I found out, but can I still be with him? I love him really. How can he betray me?I'm really hoping there is an excuse for it. I'm really hoping. I can't start throwing tantrums yet, right? Not at something I haven't seen just because my source was from Riele."Ashely. You've been quiet." He complained.I sighed deeply. I have to ask. I really have to, even though Riele said I shouldn't.I felt a slight lessening of nervous tension, and swallowed. "I heard something, and I wanna be sure." I paused. "Are you cheating on me with another girl?" I dropped. He furrowed his brows. "What? W..who the hell gave you that lie?" He shook his head. "I didn't. I didn't cheat on you with any girl."Is it a lie?"You are not cheating on me?" I asked again. He nodded. "Yeah. I'm not. I love you, so I can't."I looked at him unsurely. He's lying. He feels unstable, and he's fast to deny. I need to be smart about this. I can't be a fool.I equally nodded. "OK. I know it wasn't true, Joel. Sorry I brought it out."He smiled. "It's fine. I wonder what stoked the fire, but it is really fine."I smiled back. "I need to get to class. We'll see later.""No kiss, or peck?" He pouted.I smiled, and pecked him on the lips, and left.I'm seriously going to unearth the truth, and then he'll see my other color. My bad side.JOEL'S POVSeeing Ashely retreat, I tilted my head to the side on how she found out. I didn't really mean to.She can't find out of my infidelity. I can't lose her."Hey man, what's up." I felt a hand touched my shoulder, but I feel tensed right now.He walked to my front. "Are you OK?"I looked at him. "She found out."He furrowed his brows. "Who found out? And what did they find out?"I sighed. "Ashely. She found out what I did, Dennis.""How?"I shrugged. "I don't know.""Did you lie to her?"I nodded. "I had to, even though I hated it."He sighed. "Joel, I think it's best to tell her the truth, and explain. Wherever she got the truth from, she can seek for more answers.""But, it'll crush her.""It's better you tell her the truth, 'cause she finding out on her own will crush her more, and be fast about it if you don't want to lose her." He warned.I sighed. How will I do it? How can I do it?The situation irked me. I was anxious to do something like lying to her to evade looking so squarely at the problem, but now there seem to be no choice. I have to vomit the whole truth to her.Dennis patted my back. "Come on, man. It'll be OK, but you have to settle with her before Halloween, or you won't have a date.""You think Jordan invited her?" I asked with furrowed brows."Of course. Don't forget she's got Riele as a friend."I scowled. Riele. "Of course. I do have to."To think of it, Riele could be the rat. A rat with the eyes of a hawk."Something just came to mind, Den."Dennis furrowed his brows. "What?""I think, I mean, there is a huge possibility Riele knew, and ratted me out."Dennis nodded. "I thought so too. Her eyes seems to be everywhere. Watching everyone like a hawk. It's like she holds everyone secret in the palm of her hands.""I wonder how she finds time to do it." I said to myself."To me, I believe she just happens to be in the right place at the right time."I looked at him like he was crazy. "And you think it is right?"He shrugged. "Some people are like that. They happen to mistakenly come across a place where secrets are stocked."I scoffed. "One day, she'll end up in the worst place, where she'll have to die for that secret not to be revealed." I said in annoyance."Or maybe one day, she'll be a reporter. Someone who comes across secrets, and air it out."I furrowed my brows at him. "Are you supposed to be supporting her?"He chuckled. "I don't get you, bro. Am I supposed to be scared of her? You only get scared when you have something to hide, and I don't. I also think that she has a good ability, it's just the way she uses it."I kept looking at this guy. He's unbelievable. How can he be on Riele's side right now?Ability? Who cares? She should stay out of my way. I do not want I, and Ashely to break up. I love her so much.I have to tell her the truth. I need to before it is too late."Let's go to gym class." I told him, and he nodded.FLASHBACK. (RIELE'S POV.)This is so surreal. I sat on my seat in class as I heard everyone having different opinions, creating rumors, and whispering all sorts of things about what happened to Dean. What actually happened to Dean? What is my own opinion?Yeah. I do have mine. I have my own thoughts on the unfortunate path Dean must have taken without his realization, because I know what he was accused of wasn't true.I know, and what I happen to know, I trust. If I don't believe something, then I don't believe it, and I don't believe Dean was the culprit in this situation.Something else is involved, but what is? Cause things doesn't happen too easily, and if he was actually the culprit, then he should have tried not to get himself caught.I watched as everyone flocked into the classroom, then my eyes landed on Dean's best friend. Levi Walker. He must be going through a lot after what happened to his friend. It is even surprising how the situation went viral.I smiled knowing he trie
Riele's POV.Walking out from school, a bang of thunder got the attention of everyone, followed by heavy wind.I sighed, wrapping my arms around myself. I'm not wanting rain in the moment."Do you think there is any need to go shopping? There are other days." Karen complained."You're going shopping for Halloween costume today?" Liz asked looking at me narrowingly, and I nodded."Why didn't you inform us?" Ashely asked disappointedly.Heavy wind passed again causing goosebumps to rise on my skin, and stopping my hair from being calm, and steady."I was going to inform you guys, but I kinda forgot." I confessed releasing my hands, and trying to tend to my hair."Then let's go together." Liz suggested.Karen bumped her lightly. "If we go together then we are equally telling each other our costumes."I nodded in agreement shoving my hands in my jacket pockets."Well, going together doesn't mean we can't hide our costumes from each other." Ashely said as a matter of fact.I tilted my head
Riele's POV.FLASHBACK."The math homework I gave you guys should be submitted before the day is completely over." Our math teacher, Mr. Jones said, and we all nodded.I knew he was reffering to Liz, since Liz happens to be the class president this term.I voted for her, because I know she deserves the position. She's a walking thesaurus anyways. The teacher left the class, while everyone started packing out, and dropping their math homework on Liz's desk. I equally did the same, followed by Karen, and Ashely.Karen, and Ashely stood up with their things, and left the class. They always involve themselves in school activities.I looked at Liz, as she heartily concentrate on arranging the papers in front of her.I sighed, and brooded over what I found out. My mind whirling with images born of a multitude of impulses. My eyes couldn't stop staring at Liz, and my mind couldn't stop contemplating the flood of sad feelings that would spring forth out of her when she finds out exactly what
Oct. 28. Wednesday.Riele's POV.Walking inside the Café doorway, I immediately walked to my best spot. A couch leaning on a wall with a wide window on top of it.I sat down on the couch, and my friends followed behind. Karen sat beside me while Ashley, and Liz sat opposite. A table situated between us."Aren't we ordering?" Karen asked.I just shrugged, and crossed my legs."Well, I need americano." Liz pointed, her hands folded on the table."If you're helping, Karen, I'll need mocha latte." Ashley included leaning on the chair.Karen nodded, and faced me. "What do you need?""Just decaf." I told her.She stood, and walked up to the counter."Ever since yesterday, Riele. My mind couldn't stop thinking."My forehead puckered, and I looked at Liz. "What do you mean?""I'm curious." She said."About what?" I asked still befuddled at what she meant."About wanting to know what you have against Jules. It must be pretty big."I rolled my eyes, and a huge sigh came out of me. It turns out
ASHLEY'S POV.I haven't really had the time to find out if Joel lied to me, or probably the truth about the fact that he cheated, even though I'm extremely curious about it, but right now my curiosity is on what he seriously wants to talk to me about. He sighed after a short moment we'd been outside. I'm purposely giving him time."I have a confession to make." He blurted nervously."That you cheated on me?" I asked plainly without thoughts.Somehow I knew that was what he came to tell me. He is never this nervous or else he is scared of saying something. He nodded. "I'm sorry I lied. I was just scared, and everything happened out of the blue. I wanted to save myself. My eyes glued on him as the words escaped his mouth. What should I do? I thought. He's actually saying the truth to me."Why did you do it?" I asked still affected at the thought of him cheating. My face seemed void of emotions, but my mind is filled with a lot of whys."It was a mistake. I was tempted."I scoffed at the
Oct. 29. Thursday.Riele's POV.My thoughts have been filled up ever since realization settled on me. The realization of not seeing my dad til next year. I've tried letting them go but to no avail.I rested my elbow on the arm of my chair and propped my chin on my hands like someone who was tasked with the greatest impossible thing.I'm so disappointed in myself for not getting used to reality. I guess it's due to hope, but as they say, hope is a good breakfast but a bad supper. My eyes averted as Levi entered the class. I dropped my hands on my desk. He quickly looked away from me as our eyes met, and he walked down to his seat.My mouth curved into a smile upon remembering all that I did to him.I remembered the day I slapped him out of the blue on the face in public. He couldn't do anything about it. I equally remembered when I announced his name as Liar Levi. I clearly recalled when I made him miss a test in school. I've also made him miss a class, but the test affected him more.
Riele's POV."Knock. Knock. Knock." I knocked with a mounting feeling of fear after hesitating for a long while.I needed, by all means, to keep the knowledge of my fear thrust firmly within me because my courage to help Dean depended on how successfully my fear is hidden from my consciousness.I stiffened as I heard a click sound. It was the door, and I saw its knob move. The door opened ajar, and my eyes met the face of Dean's mother. Mrs. Black.Upon seeing her, my body was immediately wrapped in a blanket of blazing terror, and a hard ache captured my head."Who are you?" She asked with furrowed brows, still holding her door."I...I..." I stuttered subconsciously. My heart was beating like a drum, and a wild impulse to turn around and walk away crept into me, but it feels like I was dragged, and thrown into a very dark hole with no way of coming out.I know damn well the sense I'm feeling, and it's the sense of guilt. I should have come a long time ago."Are you OK?" Mrs. Black as
(Flashback.)3rd person POV."Well, well, well. Look at that car!" Levi said in admiration as his eyes followed the car's movement.Dean tilted his head at him. "It's just a car, Levi."Levi looked at Dean with a scoff. "To you, it's just because your dad owns one like that, but mine don't.'Dean just shook his head and looked around where they stood. "Are we gonna keep standing in the sunshine?"Levi snuffed a cigarette. "This corner is the perfect place to hide and smoke.""Well, stand under the shelter, and lean against the wall since you're being a bad boy," Dean said with a half-shrug.Levi rolled his eyes and took steps backward, then he leaned his back against the blue-brick wall that has the protection of the sun above his head.Dean kept standing there not liking the fact that they are here behaving like some kind of rogue street boys."Are you not going to get out of the sun anymore?" Levi asked.Dean sighed and walked to where Levi is.Levi brought out a pack of cigarettes
