Chapter 13, The mad and the bold(1)

Ms. Hazel and Mr. George Brown walked into the hospital complex, heading straight for the receptionist. Ms. Hazel handed over an identity card, which was later returned along with a black key card.

The psychiatric hospital was sparsely populated. The few people there moved discreetly, as if afraid to make a sound. The place was dark and cold, with all the curtains pulled over the shut windows.

Ms. Hazel didn't waste any time and led Mr. George to the nearby elevator. They both walked in, and as the doors closed, Ms. Hazel pulled out the black key card she received from the receptionist.

She pressed and held the elevator's emergency button until the lights turned red. With a whoosh, a small security panel elevated itself from behind the emergency button, which seemed stuck from Hazel's long press.

Ms. Hazel swiped the card and waited for the lights to return to normal. When they did, the elevator sprang up at maximum speed.
