Gale's indifferent eyes stared down coldly at the struggling Liam.

The tendons on Liam's right hand split and tore, but he still refused to drop it. He struggled like a madman against the wind pressure until his mind finally blacked out.

"Allow me," a voice rang within Liam's head. The voice was familiar—it was the same voice that had rejected him when he first attempted the trial of the blessed gem.

"Why should I trust you? You said I wasn't worthy... you rejected me."

There was a short moment of silence before the voice responded again.

"You'll die if you don't let me take control."

"And why do you care?"

"I don't," the voice said sharply. "But you care about your little sister, right? So just say the word, and I'll show you what you're truly capable of."
