09: Not Going Down Without A Fight

The silence in the room was deafening and yet, I could almost hear Mr. de la Fontaine cursing me inside his head. He was staring at me. Seething. Mrs. de la Fontaine sat in the corner, sobbing. Losing a daughter is terrible.

However, I lost a wife too.

Olivia and I married out of convenience for both our families. In her case, the de la Fontaines needed a strong foundation to strengthen their company further. They needed the Olivieris. As for my father, he used me as a tool to secure his company that was nearing bankruptcy. Of course, father never told the de la Fontaines about the company’s situation.
