Chapter 24

When people were discussing him, Ernest was facing another problem.

“What do you say, Yvonnie?” Ernest asked in confusion, not even realizing that Yvonne was waving for a taxi right in front of his eyes.

“I say, I'm not gonna be in such things anymore.” Yvonne, now no longer a cold-hearted secretary, scratched her blonde hair, “It’s no fun. And that girl, you see, she was about to punch me! Now you tell me to be there, without salary, and sometimes I have to face some unknown danger?”

The taxi appeared far away in the road, heading to the street where Ernest and Yvonne were standing. Yvonne waved her hand to draw the driver's attention, but Ernest had held her wrist.

“But I have already chased her away, and there is no danger at all.” Ernest opened his eyes so wide to make everything more trustworthy, but Yvonne understood him too well to be deceived.

She looked at his hand, then used the other hand to take every single finger off her wrist, not even looking at Ernest.
