The strong door by my side

Without much hesitation Rafael concurred and through the directions of the voice in his head he was soon standing below a wide opening however, it was too far from his reach especially as he carried a weight along.

"How do we make it out of here?" He asked the voice in his head.

"Put the weight down and try to jump out." It replied.

"I can't leave her that way. Do you realize that it was through her help that I was able to escape from that dungeon? I will not leave her to suffer for helping me. Even if I leave her I doubt that I will be able to jump that high" Rafael rejected the idea.

"Do you have any other feasible plan?" Rafael asked but the voice kept mute.

"Hello!" Rafael called to the voice as he heard it no longer.

"Are you angry that I rejected your idea?" He asked in realization.

"We were kept hostage by her father and even for a day he never cared to repay our mothers favour neither did she. They all left us here to suffer yet you have pity on her. I don't believe I can be so soft, dumb and silly.

The confusion which was lingering in Rafael's head deepened. Why was that voice using a term that implied the both of them again he was sure that the soft , dumb and silly was meant for him since it was so then why the did the voice refer to itself why using the terms.

Not finding any answer to his questions the returned his mind to the issue at hand. "How in God's name am I supposed to jump that high he wondered.

Since the voice was unwilling to help him out this time, he got back to his method earlier but once again no one helped him some even rejected him outrightly even before he could ask. Many did not hold back when they called him an anomaly and this made him wonder why he was so popular and why he had that name.

He thought of going back to his prison but rejected the idea; anything that would meet him in his prison can also meet him here. There was no need for that extra stress.

He sat down directly under the light rays and awaited his end this time not regretfully but boldly.

He smiled at the rays which warmed his body and at the beautiful face in his arms which it brightened. His only wish became that he could bid his buddies bye.

Recalling events which took place where he believed was reality an idea suddenly struck him. At that moment, he felt as though his entire being was in a state of tranquility. This was the best moment in ones life to absorb soul energy. Earlier, he had never tried that in his dreams. But he felt confident that the results will be more positive than reality.

He readied himself for the absorption and by making an effort which was much less than that which he did on earth, he was soon shrouded by soul energy which even the principal if his academy in reality would find fearsome.

He opened his pores to accept it in and it did enter without pain but unlike others he felt nothing. He was just as empty as earlier.

"Woah what's that?" The voice in him spoke up in panic.

"If you are real then try to absorb it." Rafael replied curtly.

"It just flowed past me. It is not meant for me." It still spoke in panic.

"Then where is it heading to?" Rafael inquired. It is passing into the door."

"Which door?"

"The strong door beside me."

This reply made Rafael to realize that there was much more existing facts that he needed to understand but at the moment the dumb head in him can't provide the answers so he kept it to himself till he meets the one who may be able to answer him. Regarding who could answer his numerous questions, he checked on the sleeping beauty in his arms. She seemed to be deep asleep and showed no signs of waking up for that moment the feeling of helplessness again began to rise in him. He kept looking at the pretty face in his arms and after a while another feeling awoke in him. He suddenly began to feel agitated.

She had risked everything to get him out he shouldn't relent just by trying a little even if she was not able to continue helping him at that moment.

"Why this thought kept running through his mind he stood up and began racking his brain for a feasible solution to the problem.

"I can't just jump that high." He said to himself attempting a jump and immediately his eye widened in shock on looking below his whole body stiffened in fear.

He had been always afraid of high altitudes but now just by a single attempt at jumping made him rise very high and even at that moment he was still going higher.

"My head is about to stick out of the roof!" he called back his attention from his awe and fear and looked forward to the future.

He continued rising till his whole body was off the dungeon but this time he was met with a bigger shock.

Dozens of soldiers stood around the dungeon's entrance armed to their teeth and immediately they caught the sight of him, they pointed their spears, drew their bows and got ready to going their daggers.

"No don't shoot he is with my daughter!" Seth immediately commanded the dozens of soldiers waiting at the entrance.

Now he was descending but for s moment, he was at loss on the next decision he should make. He wanted to descend back into the dungeon but kicked against it knowing that if all those soldiers came for him, it will be a matter of minutes before he is caught. It will be best for him to face the situation head on. This he realized and dived out of the entrance.

He fell onto the ground and immediately stood up again most importantly he did not let go of the reason he had not yet been shot.

He inspected himself and saw bruises on his body then he looked up to face seth with his eyes reddened in tears.

"Release my daughter and courageously face your execution, prince." Seth said with an authoritative voice.

"I will gladly do that." Rafael said in between sobs.

"But first you will tell me what a poor human like me had done to deserve this fate."

"Who did you say you are?" The voice in his head asked at the same time, Seth stiffened as though he had heard a ghost speak. Rafael's words actually pulled a string in his head. The other soldiers roared into laughter on hearing his words but there was fear visible even in their hearty laugh but Seth kept mute for a while.

"Standing on my authority as a chief of the fifth vampire community, I decree that he should be released at this instant." Seth spoke up after few moments of daze.

"What! Is that a miracle?" Rafael wondered he had only cried in his despair. He never thought that it could give out such results.

"Unfortunately that will be impossible." A voice was heard from the soldier's midst. A man pushed his way out through the crowd stood in the centre beside Seth.

Next he put off the amour covering his face revealing who he really was to everyone.

The commander in chief of the king's soldiers. The soldiers including Seth bowed immediately on recognizing him they dared not to stand.

Rafael knew that although he did not know the real identity of the soldier before him, he sure had a high standing which even surpassed Seth's.

Seth even when he had his head bowed was visibly shaking as he was deeply worried. If that soldier had been there from the onset, then this incident would implicate his daughter. He can't let anything happen to her. He could only pray that he was not present from the time it was reported that the little mistress had released the anomaly.

"You and your daughter went against the ruling of the king. She might have been spared if you showed unwavering loyalty to the king but you did not. Prepare yourself for we all know you both will suffer no less fate than being killed.

"Soldiers seize them! Get them alive!" He ordered and many soldiers encircled them leaving very few who were reluctant to go against their leader.

Rafael smiled inwardly he had known from the onset that miracles don't just happen that way.

"This is where we need her most." Seth muttered under his breath and shut his eyes tightly.

"We are doomed." Rafael panicked. They were in a very bad situation yet the only solution the formidable Seth could offer was shutting his eyes tight.

Rafael ran his eyes through the crowd and noticed a fact that got him perplexed. The soldiers near him seemed to be advancing with more caution than those nearer to Seth. This was an advantage to him but it was still impossible for him to fight carrying his load.

"He sneered and growled at soldiers who were closest to them and they backed away fearfully luckily he was able to buy time for Seth to conclude whatever he was doing at the moment.

Cold sweat trickled down Seth's face; it seems that his efforts were doomed to be unsuccessful. He closed walked nearer to where they stood then put her hand on his chest.

"How will that help?" Rafael was about to asked but the result it yielded made him to shut his already opened mouth.

The tearful eyes of the pretty girl he hadn't let go opened at once.

Now, Rafael wasn't too sure she could render much help but he was sure she would no longer hold him back if he wished to kick the arse of the cowardly soldiers who have been ordered once more to seize them.
