Let us rewind time a bit...
During the time when Arran's identity was being verified in Fort Crawford, back on the Aeth home planet, an alert signal was triggered at the same time.
Just as this signal was triggered, it was immediately picked up by the relevant department. Before long, a series of predetermined strings of processes was conducted to verify the authenticity of the alert. After everything was done and it was confirmed to be a valid alert, this signal was immediately filed and sent further up the chain to be verified once more.
This process was repeated a few times before, finally, it reached the desk of the council members.
Currently, due to dealing with the aftermaths of the invasion of the shades and the subsequent retaliation of the Aeth, the council members were swamped with work and they were too busy to take care of matters that were not important.
Of the thirteen council members, the only one with some free time on his hands was
Arran, along with Trapp, Sadie and John went into the main area of the space station after all the due processes were conducted.Due to their identities, Arran and Trapp went in through the gate on the left side while Sadie and John, who only had ordinary identities, could only go through the door in the middle. There was not much of a difference which door one entered through. Either way, they would still exist in the same place on the other side. The only significance in the different levels of doors was a matter of status and identity. Only with the corresponding level of status and identity would one be able to enjoy certain benefits in the main area.Entering through the door, there was a long narrow tunnel that connected the common area and the main area together. Inside this tunnel, there were various transport cars meant to convey passengers to the main area.In the Arran's and Trapp's tunnel, there were different kinds of single or two-man cars b
Listening to Trapp's explanation on the specialty of Fort Crawford's main area, Arran was deeply amazed by what he learned. Thinking of the mysterious wormhole that was sitting in the core of the space station, Arran was really impressed. After Trapp finished explaining things to Arran, fell into deep thought. Considering things from a certain perspective, Arran understood that Fort Crawford was figuratively speaking, sitting on top of a large gold mine, one that could constantly produce an untold amount of wealth. This wormhole that constantly spat out trash from its belly was like a goose that laid golden eggs. One may call these eggs trash since they couldn't be eaten, but then again, another person could consider it to be the most precious thing in the whole universe. Basically, the way Arran saw it, the things that came out of the wormhole were actually trash that was dumped and abandoned in the universe. There were lost technologies, unusual devices, an
"The stronger you are, the more benefits you gain... let me explain!" Trapp began."Have you ever heard of a bidding war?" Trapp asked Arran."Bidding war? Yeah, I've heard of it." Arran answered."Isn't it the process of two or more people trying to outbid each other by raising the offered bid for something until one wins?""Yes, exactly," Trapp confirmed."And so, what does this have to do with what you said before?" Arran asked in curiosity."Hear me out first... don't interrupt," Trapp said."As you said, a bidding war is the process of people trying to outbid each other. This is usually done by increasing the price of the bid offered until the highest bidder wins. But you have to understand that there are some things you can't simply put a price on.""Take, for example, a piece of knowledge of technology with strategic importance to the various nations and civilizations. This is not something that can be easily price
The car carrying Arran and Trapp continued to head towards the auction house and colosseum. the closer they were to the two buildings, the clearer Arran could observe them.Arran found himself becoming even more amazed the closer he got to the auction house, but as the car slowed down, Arran's attention was drawn to other things in the area. For example, Arran was surprised at the amount of traffic that was in the area surrounding the auction house and the colosseum. The place was like a central hub of activity. Various cars, few in the sky, like bees surrounding their hive and on the ground. The people looked like packs of ants moving about and foraging for food from where Arran was seeing them in the sky.But after thinking about it for a moment, Arran felt that this made a lot of sense. After all, the auction house and the colosseum were the two most important facilities in the whole main area. One was where you could bid on the things that came
While Arran was resting...Somewhere inside the core area of Fort Crawford...This place was an enclosed room. Inside it, there were a number of people from different races gathered together and discussing something solemnly. The faces of these people were serious. Most of them had tired looks on their faces and some of them were even dissatisfied as they looked disorderly and unkept almost as if they had rushed over here at the last minute.Still, although there was an awkward air in the atmosphere, nobody said anything as they simply waited in silence. Finally, after a few minutes had passed, the door to the room opened up, and another figure walked into the room with brisk steps. The aura surrounding this person was dignified as he walked, and he exuded an air of authority from his movements. While walking into the room, the man swept a profound gaze throughout the room with his eyes lingering on each and every person present in the room.
"What!""The Aeth are sending a fleet over here?""Why?""For what reason?""This is all too sudden!"The news of the Aeth sending a fleet to Fort Crawford came as a shock to all the managers present here and they started to panic a little. Each of them started bombarding Lorne with questions as they tried to learn why the Aeth would be sending a whole fleet to their station. The reason why these managers were so panicked is that of how high profile the Aeth had been in recent times. Due to the matter of the Aeth retaliating against the shades that had happened some time ago, the Aeth had become the focus of attention for the whole Ether, and anything that they did during this period would come under scrutiny from the others. The other races and civilizations paid close attention to any activity or movement the Aeth did during this period just so they would be prepared in case the Aeth suddenly turned their cannons on them.Although i
With Lorne's exit, the meeting room fell into a short lull of silence before chatter spread around the room. The managers looked at the picture of Arran that was displayed in the air, and each of them had their own thoughts going through their heads. Nobody knew what the other was thinking, but it did not stop them from discussing Arran. One of the managers that had been quiet all this time was the first to speak up and ask generally."Does anybody know who this young man is? For the Aeth to send a fleet of ships to come to pick him up with a council member even being on board. His identity must not be a simple one. How come I have never heard of someone like this appearing among the Aeth?"As soon as this question was asked, some of the other managers shook their heads in denial. They, too, did not know who Arran was.One of them pondered out loud, "Is he perhaps a talent being nurtured by the Aeth in secret, who happened to run off on his own to
Arran woke up feeling refreshed...Shifting around languidly on the soft bed, Arran stretched his body fully before lazily getting up from bed. Checking the time, Arran discovered that four hours had passed since he fell asleep.Looking around his room, Arran discovered that it was dark. He remembered that when he went to sleep; it was still bright outside, so Arran became momentarily confused after suddenly waking up in darkness. Fortunately, there was a dim light on in the room, so Arran could still vaguely make out his surroundings. After thinking for a moment, Arran eventually figured out why it was suddenly dark after waking up. Turns out, the space station was in its night cycle, so all the brightness during the day cycle had been turned off. This was a very common function for the station to simulate the day and night cycles of planets, and there was nothing to worry about. Because Arran had not experienced something like this, had been momentarily unnerv
