When Arran woke up, he was met with darkness once more. What had seemed like a long time had passed turned out to only be an instant in reality. It was like he had never entered his dreamscape at all, as if everything was an illusion fashioned by his desire for a miracle. But Arran knew it was real because the proof of it all was right in his hand. Right now, he was wielding a different weapon from before. It was a long staff, dark as the blackest obsidian with hoop-like white rings etched on its body in looping patterns. Arran hadn't yet experienced Soran’s ability for himself. Yet the feelings he got while holding the staff made him believe that he could fight Kasack on equal ground and even defeat him. Whereas, Kasack was filled with shock from having his power broken through. Just then, when Arran broke the darkness surrounding him, Kasack had felt a powerful force hitting him which sent him retreating away and losing control of his body for a moment. When Kasack regained his footing, he looked around in alarm wondering where that force had come from and thinking that perhaps the Aeth reinforcements had arrived. Thinking of this, Kasack was reminded of when he and Arran had first met and he had been prevented from killing the young man through the intervention of Commander Margo and her team. Ever since the fight began after Arran displayed his new weapon, Kasack had been feeling a stifling amount of emotions welling up inside him, all of them negative. Anger, shame, fear, insecurity… all of these emotions built up within Kasack as arran successfully parried each and every one of his attacks while gradually gaining the upper hand and successfully counterattacking occasionally. It didn’t matter what attack or ability Kasack threw at arran, the Aeth was always able to break through it forcefully which drove Kasack to madness. It was all that accursed staff’s fault! Kasack blamed the current situation on Soran because, without the staff, arran would have fallen before him by now. Arran’s stance left little room for maneuvering, making it hard for him to dodge. He could only block if he wanted to remain unharmed. But if he did that, then he would give up this opportunity to Kasack. Their positions would be switched leaving arran open to further attacks. Kasack was sent flying after being hit by Arran. His chest was sunken and bloodied from the barrage of staff thrusts delivered to him and a mouth full of blood burst from Kasack’s mouth. Kasack was severely damaged, his injuries extremely grevious. But the most severe blow done to Kasack was the blow to his mind and ego. Despite everything, despite all the preparations and plans he had made, Kasack still hadn’t succeeded in killing Arran, yet it was he who was left battered and on the brink of death once again. This thought, Kasack could not bear it. His previous shame which he had hidden beneath a well of anger and rage resurfaced once more, bursting onto the surface like an erupting volcano. Aaaahhhhhh!
