Arran followed instructor Missy. Together, they left the main training grounds and entered the castle building.Instructor Missy led Arran through the castle’s halls, down a path he’d never taken before. They seemed to be going up, but Arran could not be sure. Finally, after running around for a few minutes, they stopped in front of large double doors seemingly made of bronze. There were multiple depictions of winged humanoids wielding swords and spears, all charging at a large sun that hung in an endless sky.The scene seemed to be a depiction of a valiant battle, though who the winged humanoids were fighting was still yet to be seen.It couldn’t be the giant sun, Arran thought. He couldn’t imagine who would want to fight the sun. U less you had nothing better to do than it was rather pointless.Instructor Missy started at the scene on the doors in silence, and Arran didn’t disturb her. He thought it was probably a ritual of hers or something to take a few minutes to contemplate. Wha
Powerful? No, this was practically broken!Arran marveled in amazement at his instructor’s description of their bloodline’s second ability. Without a doubt, it was a very powerful ability. There were likely not many abilities that were this broken and powerful.Basically, Boundary was the bane of concept abilities. That was because to use concept powers, you needed to manifest the laws and principles that form that concept. If your connection to those laws was severed, naturally, it was impossible to use your concept ability. If Arran had used boundary during his fight with the concept user in his reality dungeon, that battle would have ended much sooner than it did.To all concept users, the kingsmen were their greatest nemesis.Arran’s excitement showed clearly on his face. When he looked at the picture drawn on the double doors, he felt a new wave of reverence for it. It was like looking at a sacred symbol. Arran had no choice but to sow his respects. As for the Daoist cultivators,
Arran ignored, instructor Missy’s quip. Instead, he focused on their meaning.Without a doubt, the instructor was confirming that he had in fact developed his miracle some time ago.Arran didn’t know what to say. Somehow it felt a little underwhelming to find out about this. Like he had achieved something but couldn’t enjoy the process of doing so.As if sensing Arran’s mood, instructor Missy smiled and asked.“Why are you disappointed? You don’t like what kind of miracle you developed?”“No, no, no... I actually quite like it. It seems very practical to me because I am given a direct upgrade of my power level,” Arran said, quick to deny her question.“Then what are you looking so dour about?”Arran responded.“It’s just, I feel like I didn’t actually do anything to achieve this miracle and it’s making me wonder if I deserve to have it.”“Hmm. I can imagine how you must feel,” instructor Missy said.“It must be a real pain in the ass to be so lucky. To have everything fall in your lap
Arran was shocked by everything instructor Missy was telling him. He had never known all of these things. But in hindsight, all of it made sense. In the whole of the Kingsman academy, Arran was probably the youngest cadet. Even Charmy, who was the youngest before Arran came along, was already thirty years old. She didn’t look like it because of the Aeth’s incredibly long life span. But what this meant was that all of them were either stronger than Arran was or they would eventually be when they finally actualized their concepts. The fact that Arran was ahead now didn’t mean he would be forever.“I really didn’t know,” Arran said, his mood a little down.Sigh!Sighing heavily, instructor Missy finally spoke gently to Arran.“It’s not your fault. You’ve never been properly guided before. That is why you felt like this all this time. We always thought we would have more time to train you, to guide you properly. But you’re moving too fast, too quickly, for us to properly raise you like we
Before the break of Dawn, Arran, along with his other unit members, were gathered in an open field outside the academy gates. They were not the only ones present, as other cadet units also gathered together. In the Kingsman academy, each cadet unit contained at least 20 members to an upward number of forty. There were different grades or batches, each based according to the year of entry into the academy. Each grade was separated from the other by twenty years, with there being four grades in total. The academy started recruiting cadets when they were 20 years old and they were allowed to graduate and serve various departments in the aeth council when they turned 100. That means in every generation there will be 4 recruitment drives conducted by the academy. When Arran joined the lineup outside the academy’s walls, he was surprised to find there were not only cadets from his grade present. But cadets from the second and third grades were also present too.Previously, Arran had learned
Cadets, Attention!A command rippled through the air like the clap of thunder. An oppressive feeling hung in the air as multiple figures appeared in the sky.As soon as the command was given, every cadet lined up on the ground stood straight like pillars driven into the ground. The restlessness that once filled their hearts disappeared in an instant, and an aura as tranquil as water spread around the open field.Every cadet was like a single organism, moving with only one directive in mind.Seeing this, the instructors in the air all nodded their heads in approval. Satisfaction could be seen in their eyes as they observed every cadet in the field. One of them said to the others, “Perfect reaction. Everybody moved as soon as the order was given. It seems they have all been properly trained."“Indeed. The coordination between every cadet was in accordance despite their different grades and units. The standards are very high among this batch.” Another instructor concurred.“Humph, please
Arran followed the others to board the spaceships after being divided up into different platoons. Each platoon had an instructor serving as the platoon leader. As there were 50 instructors and about 12000 cadets, there were a total of 50 platoons, with each having 240 cadets at the very least. Each platoon was made up of a mix of cadets from different grades. The platoons were further divided into different squads, with there being 6 squads and 40 members in each squad. The squad members were selected from cadets in the same unit who usually trained together because they were already used to cooperating with each other. And these squads would be further divided into various teams depending on the objective of the mission that will be assigned to them later. The leader of a squad was usually the unit head of the unit that made up that squad. But in the case there was a squad formed by two different units, the unit head of the higher grade would serve as the squad leader.Arran’s squad
The company of cadets from the Kingsman academy was in transit to a temporary outpost created just for the purpose of the current mission. This outpost was located in one of the galaxy clusters where the Ludwig galactic travel company mainly based its main operations in.It was not far from the central cluster of the aeth civilization and would only take a day's journey to reach.During this time, the cadets were made to rest and prepare themselves, for when they reached the outpost, they would immediately be assigned their roles.Arran sat in meditation inside the transport ship as he tried to prepare himself for the mission ahead. He did not enter either of his dreamscapes, but instead tried to recall some details from the past.Eris and Charmy were sitting beside Arran in silence. Since the time in the royal council hall, the three of them had not interacted much. It was mainly because there hadn’t been any time for them to get together and chat.Still, despite that, the three made
