Reinforcements had arrived and with their first move, they had directly subdued the decadent horror. One move… that was all it took to suppress the enemy that had given Joyner and the others a difficult time. The reinforcements that arrived were no strangers to the Aeth gathered here. They were none other than the two princesses, Charmy and Eris who hadn’t been heard from for some time now. None of the Aeth expected that the reinforcements they had been looking forward to arriving would be these two. It should be known that before they had set out for this mission, the last thing they heard, neither Eris nor Charmy had broken through and evolved. A few months ago, they were still in the actualization realm, yet here they were unleashing such devastating attacks that could only come from someone in the law evolution realm. Suffice it to say that the surprise was very well delivered. But none of that mattered now. Without delay, Joyner led his group over to the new arrivals and gre
“Charmy… watch your tone,” Eris cautioned Charmy on the manner of speech to spare the feelings of the other Aeth. But this concern only made the situation worse for Joyner and the others especially for Beatrice and Pamela. Among everybody present, only the two of them were closer in age to Eris and Charmy and Beatrice had often been compared to the two of them in talent so they both considered themselves as rivals to Eris and Charmy. But with things as they were, how could they have the face to call themselves their rivals? Seemingly sensing the tense atmosphere, Eris coughed and changed the topic. “I understand the situation now. From what you said, it is a good thing we made it in time. Things seemed to have been dire… fortunately, I made a move as soon as I sensed the hostile aura perpetrating in the air and got the enemy under control.” “But what you said about its regeneration is truly troubling. Even now while my roots are binding the horror I can feel the overwhelming a
Charmy was before the decadent horror in no time and when she stopped a turquoise blue whip with flower patterns running along its length appeared on her hand. The whip was wrapped in three loops and was about two meters long when completely unfurled. In a blur of motion, Charmy swung her whip at the horror so fast that only a faint blue arc could be seen drawing a dark trail like it was tearing through space. Only when the whip landed on its target could the others see it again. There was a burst of blood as Charmy’s whip left deep lacerations on the horror’s body tearing deep to the bone, causing its boiling blood that was resistant to the cold silence of space to shower everywhere. With a single stroke, Charmy heavily wounded the decadent horror displaying a crushing might that left the onlookers terrified by what they saw. That whip strike was like a sharp blade almost cutting the horror in two making the others who had struggled so hard against it look like complete fools b
“What the hell are those things?” Colonel Vehe could not help but exclaim in shock as he watched the decadent horror suffer through repeated instances of regeneration and devouring. He was terrified because never in his wildest dreams had he ever imagined that an ability like this could exist. As if answering his question, Charmy’s voice rang out in his ears like a haunting specter. “Subatomic living nanamite parasites. That’s what they are. They are a kind of parasitic life form that feeds off the energy of elementary particles and are generally found in the oceans of our home planet.” Hearing Charmy’s voice addressing him, at first, Colonel Vehe was surprised that she was talking to him. But then his focus shifted to something else the thought of which left him reeling with shock. “You mean that thing is alive?” This was what concerned the colonel the most. Since Charmy called the foam-like substance a parasite then it meant that it was a living creature. Charmy’s next wor
Charmy’s power was incredible, but all Colonel Vehe could see as he watched the subatomic organisms eat away at the decadent horror’s body was how terrifying it was. Nobody explained to the colonel what kind of creatures subatomic nanamite parasites were but he could envision something like this existing on Earth and eating away at every biological or nonbiological organism like an enormous tide washing through the planet in one massive sweep. Thinking of this, a certain term came to mind… Planetary level threat! For years, nuclear weapons have been seen as the pinnacle of mankind’s destructive capabilities and even with the advent of transcendence sweeping through the planet, no superpower could yet compete with nuclear bombs in destructive might. But even with all that power, nuclear bombs were not considered planetary-level threats. This level was reserved for only those things that were capable of threatening the destruction of an entire planet and the life forms inhabitin
The battle was won… the decadent horror was defeated, trapped within the roots of a tree to serve as nutrient and fertilizer to ensure the healthy growth of the tree. This was something worth celebrating. It was a feat that should have brought relief and joy to those who had struggled desperately for so long. Yet, no one could bring themselves to feel good about it. It was all just so anticlimactic! When Eris and Charmy had appeared to reinforce Joyner and the others, they hadn’t expected the battle to be resolved so swiftly and effortlessly by the two of them. What the others had expected was that with the two of them joining in, the battle situation would improve with back and forths being exchanged between the decadent horror and their group until finally with a wave of resolve the horror would be defeated. Indeed, the battle situation did improve… the horror was eventually defeated — sealed away to a miserable fate — yet there was no back-and-forth exchange of moves nor an
“That’s very impressive,” Sable praised. . “If we had you around sooner we wouldn’t have had to suffer so miserably to defeat this horror.” “Yeah,” Pamela agreed. “You seem fully capable of defeating the enemy on your own without needing any help from Her Highness Charmy.” Hearing this, Eris smiled lightly but shook her head at the same time. She said, “That’s what you think but it isn’t as easy as you put it.” “Whatever the source of this decadent horror’s power is, it is incredibly resilient and tough — like it has a will of its own — making it impossible for me to absorb it directly.” “Believe me, I tried. As soon as I made the first move after our arrival, I had already tried absorbing its energy yet I failed. That is why I needed Charmy’s help. It is because only when the horror’s body is broken and in need of regeneration will the energy inside its body be easier to move thus enabling me to absorb some of it to create the seal.” Learning about the underlying intri
Eris and Charmy couldn’t wait to go to Arran. Ignoring the giant tree that floated impressively in space, the two of them rushed towards Arran’s position followed by the others lagging a little behind them. . Fortunately, due to Arran’s influence, a milky haze covered the entire Earth reinforcing the barrier around the planet and preventing those inside from being able to observe the starry sky. But it couldn’t completely block out everything from being revealed. From Earth, anybody looking up would only be able to see a white screen like thick clouds blocking their view of space. But in a certain part of the sky, a dark shadow loomed above the milky brightness. The shadow possessed many arms and countless heads with long and distorted legs that extended like tentacles reaching into the void. The shadow was nightmarish and monstrous giving people the illusion of an eldritch being coming to consume the Earth causing panic to spread like a raging fire amongst the survivors who we
