Terrence had launched a desperate attack on Arran in the midst of everybody. Arran who had been on guard had attempted to dodge but he had made a grave mistake in the process.
Due to the fact that Arran was currently in a weakened state from fighting the undead knight coupled with the fact that he had not fully recovered before he had rushed over to protect Brianna from Terrence, as soon as Arran attempted to dodge Terrence's surprise attack, his hidden injuries acted up at that moment causing Arran to lose his footing and preventing him from dodging in time.
Arran was caught in a desperate situation.
If nothing happened, Arran would definitely be hit by Terrence's attack. At best he would be severely injured and would need to take a long time to recover while at worst, Arran would be disqualified immediately. All Arran could do now was try his best to use his wings to cover his body while trying to stabilize his footing.
