The morning exercise was truly grueling.
The entire unit ran ten laps around the arena that was 5 kilometers around. By the third lap, Arran was already finding it had to carry on, and by the time of the 8th, he was reduced to a slow crawl.
It was only through the sheer force of his will that Arran was able to complete the entire run. What ticked Arran off about the entire situation was that all through the run, he was receiving ridiculing looks from the other cadets in the unit.
The unit Arran was a part of was made up of some fifty-something cadets who came from a host of different backgrounds all of whom formed their own different groups where those from a less influential background flocked around those from more influential backgrounds.
After observing the interactions between the cadets, Arran was able to identify and categorize a few of those groups.
