'The offering dance of the flame totem!'
What kind of wacky name was this.
In his mind, Arran was dissing the creator of this manual for what he believed to be his poor naming sense.
If it were left to Arran he would give this technique a very domineering name like 'the burning heavens sutra' or 'the classics of summoning calamity fire.'
Now those were mighty names.
What was the offering dance of the flame totem?
It sounded like something one would come up with when they were heavily under the influence of clinical substances and were truly doped up, imagining themselves as a kind of totem worshiper.
Even while Arran dissed the name of the dance, it did not stop him from asking instructor Fel a question.
"Instructor, why is this manual named so weirdly?"
Instructor Fel chuckled for a while as if she had thought of something funny.
Then she said, "Well I have to admit that the name is a little bit off but it can't
Arran was basking in the warmth of the rare sunshine as he walked through a vast field of grass.By his side were Eris and Charmy who were walking alongside him enjoying the warm sunshine and breathing in the cool air while letting the light breeze blow against their bodies... lifting their hair as they swayed with the wind.As Arran walked he took glances at both Eris and Charmy. It was times like this that reminded Arran of the life he had lived during the test of the reality gate.Though that life had been false, for a time Arran had truly lived that life, and even when he knew it was a lie, he had still continued living that lie willingly for a while more.Arran remembered how it was like when Eris and Charmy had found out that they had been husband and wives with Arran during those times and had even had kids together... Arran had suffered a small beating from them even when he had only told them about it as a joke to them. After the be
The voice of Karl who was at the head of the group said, "We are coming up on wild grass town very soon. I can already see the town gate from here and we should be in the vicinity in at most twenty minutes."Arran and the group were still on the way to wild grass town and they were not in a hurry to reach there yet as they leisurely strolled at a relaxed pace.Hearing what Karl had said, they all just mumbled as a sign that they had heard him.Shandra who was skipping along and had a bubbly personality went over to Arran's side and held his hands in an embrace as she asked him, "Hey Arran, this should be the first time that you have been out of the academy right?"Arran looked at Shandra as she hugged his arm into her chest. He could not help but enjoy the feeling of his arm pressing into the soft mounds on her chest with the only complaint being that she was a little small where it mattered and he could at most feel a slight bump.Removing those t
After Arran and the rest of the group separated to go do their own things, Arran took a stroll around the town market. As Arran was walking through the market he took the time to carefully observe some of the wares on display. Whenever he saw something that interested him, Arran would stop to inquire about the function and use of that thing.Like this Arran spent a few minutes just going around the shops. It was not like Arran did not want to make any purchases, it was just that Arran finally realized that he had no way of determining if something was valuable or not.If there is one thing Arran had learned when it comes to shopping in the free market, it was to never believe the honey-coated words of the sellers who would praise their wares to the high heavens until you did not know how you had been swindled into buying things you don't really need nor want and still make you feel like you had lost out not buying more from them. That was why Arran
The dark figure led Arran to a corner of the market that was almost close to the entrance of the residential areas of the wild grass town. Here there was a wall that separated the residential area and the market and on top of the wall, a few guards in uniforms patrolled. The dark figure led Arran stealthy along the wall while he skillfully avoided the guards above. like that the two of them reached a part of the wall that was connected to a sewage drain. The dark figure lifted the bars of the drain and gestured for Arran to enter.Smelling the foul air that was coming through the drain Arran protested, "Really, you couldn't find us another entrance that was more ingeniously hidden and did not need to wade through the sewers?"The dark figure said, "Well this is one of the few entrances that does not need us to pay a toll. It's either this or we have to hitch a ride with the porter that transports swill out of the town. There is an entrance there th
By the time the gates to the underground market opened, Arran had already spent ten wet minutes taking a bath he did not sign up for. When he stepped out of that waiting room, Arran's hair was untidy and his clothes wrinkled but dry. Thankfully the managers of the underground market were not so heartless as to leave them walking around all wet and bothered, though Arran suspected that such generosity was meant to save some face for themselves if nothing else.Inside Arran was still seething about the whole darn affair but his discontent was mainly directed at himself since all this could have effectively been avoided if he had just stuck with Eris and Charmy, but no he had to go ahead and be a wise-ass, leading to his current predicament. And then there was the unreliable guide...Looking at Fizz who was trailing behind him, Arran could not help but sigh from the pitiful state he was in compared to himself.Right now the dark cloak that Fizz was we
The game that Fizz took Arran to see was one he was relatively familiar with.As Fizz explained the rules Arran realized that it was one of those games where one would guess on the probability of the dice turning up high or low. Except for the props being different, it was basically the same thing. The dice that was being used was unlike the square six-sided dice Arran was more familiar with. This dice was a kind of hexadecagon... a sixteen-sided polygon... but unlike a typical hexadecagon this one bore a very similar resemblance to a tesseract shown in mathematical models back on earth.Generally, a tesseract is the four-dimensional rendering of a cube and if seen up close it would look like there was a cube inside of another cube.Well in the case of these dice when seen from up close it would look like there was another hexadecagon inside of a hexadecagon. Each of the sides of the tesseract had a number both on the inside and the outside
The dealer immediately got two dice and placed them in the small cup that isolated all forms of detection before handing it to Arran for him to give the dice a good shake. In this particular game, the dealer decided to use normal dice that had not been specially treated by the gambling house to see how good Arran's luck was.As this sort of game heavily relied on one's luck, the gambling house would usually have the means to prevent people with incredible luck from winning a lot of money from the house. This is why the dealer only used regular dice to test Arran's luck. When Arran got the cup he pretended to observe the cup while also trying to use different means to see if he could break the restriction on the cup.The dealer and all those who frequented the gambling den were gloating at what they thought to be Arran's ignorance as they ridiculed him silently in their minds. After pretending for a while more, Arran looked at the dealer as i
The more bets Arran won the more the dealer and the rest of the players knew that something was very wrong and just as the dealer was about to call foul Arran suddenly stood up.Stretching his body, Arran said, "Well that was a very good game. It would seem that my luck is very good today, but seeing as I have had a little too much fun and I am already running late for an appointment I guess this is where the fun is going to end."Saying so Arran turned to Fizz and asked, "Hey Fizz where do I go to if I want to cash out on these plates?"In Arran's hands were small square chips that had some clear markings drawn on them. These chips were called plates and they were what all the gambling dens used when betting. Earlier Fizz had helped Arran to exchange some of his money into these plates when he had expressed interest in gambling.Just as Arran was making his way to Fizz and was preparing to leave the den, the dealer who had been dealing for Arran suddenly
