Down on earth, in the frozen frontier settlement where Arran and the others had first settled, Col. Vehe sat inside his office rapping his fingers rhythmically on the hardwood table while his aide and poltergeist watched on in silence. At this moment, both of them knew better than to make a noise cause they were well aware that the colonel was unsettled right now.Not only him, but they too felt uneasy about what was currently going on outside Earth’s atmosphere.By now, almost everybody — both humans and beasts alike — could feel the battle that was happening outside Earth between the Aeth and the decadent horror. All over the world, humans, beasts, plants, and anything with a smidgen of sentience looked up at the sky thinking about the fate of planet Earth.Nobody knew who was fighting out there. Only a few remaining leaders on earth had an inkling of what was going on but not the full details, and it was this that troubled them the most.Ever since a few minutes ago, Earth had comp
Strong tremors caused loud groans and shrieking of metal beams in the building's structure. Wooden boards creaked endlessly as large fractures appeared along the walls and ceilings of the colonel’s office sending splinters flying about. The cry of the very earth boomed thunderously across the clouds as if heralding the fall of the heavens. All about, every living being on earth — sentient or not — felt a palpitation in their hearts, a forewarning of imminent dangers looming on the horizon. When everything finally settled, people were left in a state of heart-wrenching fear and a premonition of a worse ordeal that was yet to come.In Col. Vehe’s office, the colonel, Duke, and Poltergeist stood frozen in place, their hearts beating frantically in their chests feeling like they would burst out at any moment. When everything had settled down, they remained standing long enough for their nerves to calm down. Only then did they look around themselves at the havoc that was caused in the offi
“Damn it! What the hell was that?”Back to the battlefield…Arran and the others had just recovered from the aftermath of the horrors self detonation. Having gathered together, they all overlooked the center of the explosion, deep in thought.“It looks like the horror self-detonated,” Sable said.“Well, no kidding wise guy. Way to state the obvious,” Pamela disparaged.“All in a day's work..” Sable responded without care.“That’s enough you too,” Joyner cut in before Pamela could respond preventing their banter from escalating.“Focus on the battle.”The others ignored the two clowners and pondered more serious issues like…“Why did the horror self detonate? It couldn’t have been to take us down with it right?” Beatrice asked.“I doubt it,” Arran replied.“As powerful as the self detonation was, it wouldn’t have been enough to finish us off at all. Not with us fully defending ourselves.”“It could be that it wanted to save its own skin,” Alec suggested.“At the cost of ending its own
Bang! There was a collision and a powerful impact wave swept through the surrounding space causing a storm of spatial winds to blow about, pushing Joyner and the other Aeth away and forcing them to squint.Urgh!Your Highness!Arran!Prince Arran! At once, cries of surprise and concern calling out to Arran came together as the Aeth looked at the point of impact where Arran had been standing.Shit! Save His Highness!Sable was the first to rush into the fray, his palms flowing with psychedelic light as two long swords formed in his hands. Without waiting for the impact waves to settle, Sable was prepared for an all-out attack. But then, a figure came flying out of the storm, white silvery wings flapping powerfully behind him with a red-black scythe in his hand, the half moon blade looping around him like a cradle.Seeing Arran’s figure Sable paused in his tracks while the others beamed with relief at his safety. But Arran’s voice rang urgently in their ears warning them.“Everyone, don
While Arran was fighting the revived horror, the others had already gathered some distance away from him, observing the battle taking place. Among them, Joyner had an arm around Alec’s neck while his other hung limply by his side, blood dripping from the cuff of his sleeve.Joyner’s face was pale as Alec supported him in joining the others. Seeing him like this, the others were concerned and Pamela asked, “How are you doing? Is the wound alright?”“It’s fine,” Joyner replied.“I’ve already applied a coagulant to stop the bleeding so I’ll be fine.”“I don’t know man, are you sure? It looks infected to me,” Sable said referring to the black lines that were snaking up Joyner’s arms and to the rest of the body.”Joyner reassured, “Don’t worry about it. It's to be expected from a dirty creature but I’ve got it under control.”Joyner was not merely performing lip service and trying to reassure everybody. While the ambush has been unexpected making it so that he could evade the attack by bec
[Shattered Meteor] was a dimensional refracting technique. A technique that could distort time and space allowing for instantaneous execution of moves in a single moment. It was how Arran could perform multiple slashes in a single second. With this technique, there was no upper limit to the number of moves one could execute, allowing for two, three, ten, sixteen moves, and upwards. Thus when combined with [Dark Curtain] and [Sever], a truly bloody scene would unfold. The body of the horror after being hit with [Shattered Meteor] was torn to shreds and with [Sever] taking effect, not a single piece of flesh remained intact on the horror. But Arran didn’t stop there, he went on to perform another round of attacks using [Shattered Meteor]. His goal was to reduce even those broken pieces of the horror into even smaller pieces to prevent the horror’s healing factor from coming into play. Even if just to slow it down, as long as Arran could land enough hits, he would be able to use the card
But while the Wellingtons were effective in dealing with the flesh wall, they couldn’t take care of all of it because it was really too long. The flesh wall was already as huge as several districts in a large metropolitan city like New York making it too large for any one of them to handle alone. If not that the flesh wall was very weak and vulnerable to their attacks much unlike the nigh-invulnerable horror, it would’ve been a much greater threat to the Aeth than the horror was. So although the Wellington trio managed to deal with a large portion of the flesh wall, a greater portion of it managed to slip through the other side to rush toward the horror. But before it could get to the horror, the flesh wall was blocked by Sable who stayed close to Arran’s battle zone to gate-keep the area.Seeing the flesh wall — at this point it was less like a wall and more like a mound — after seeing the flesh mound rushing toward him, Sable stood steadfast and blocked their path. In front of him,
While everybody fought their own battles, Arran focused on dealing with the decadent horror sparing only a bit of his senses to observe their progress. When he saw that everybody had things under control and wouldn’t allow the mound of flesh-skin to approach the horror any time soon, Arran renewed his efforts to finish off the decadent horror now that it was weak.[Shattered Meteor: Eightfold Slash!]Once again, Arran executed another eightfold slash of Shattered Meteor on the decadent horror slicing its countless body parts into even more tiny fragments. Not a single part of the horror remained intact after the full onslaught of Arran’s attacks. But it has taken many attacks using Shattered Meteor to achieve the current effect which has taken some time. It would have taken less time if Arran could execute more slashes using Shattered Meteor but the current limit of the number of slashes Arran could perform was eightfold.Still, with the help of [Sever], arran saved a lot of time.
