Arran was devoured by the light and in the next moment, before he realized what was going on, he had already disappeared from where he was. By the time he had come back to his senses, he was already in an unfamiliar place.
Arran opened his eyes which he had closed as he was being transported away by the flash of light.
Although Arran had not seen what was happening to him, he could feel it through his body that he was moving at a rapid speed. It was like how one would feel when taking a bus or riding a train. that sense of stationary movement where even if your body was not moving on its own, it was still being moved in the end.
That was the kind of feeling that Arran was currently having right now.
Arran knew that his body was stuck in place and it was not moving on its own but there was something that was carrying him across a vast distance.
By the time that feeling disappeared, Arran knew that he had come to a stop.
Opening his eyes, ging
Arran, Brianna, and Reed finally stopped standing around and went to explore the waiting room.As they made their way to the various pavilions, the three of them entered into the one that was the closest to them.Upon entering the pavilion, what greeted them were different lounge chairs meant for relaxing as well as various assortments of delicacies and treasures. There was a central table placed right in the middle of the pavilion which had different kinds of foods and drinks. These foods and drinks were not ordinary delicacies as they were made from highly nutritious ingredients that contained a lot of energy. The foods and drinks were mostly made from the bodies of powerful Direbeasts as well as natural treasure herbs and plants and they were meant to supplement the energy that the participants had lost during the ceremony. Naturally, apart from being nutritious, they would definitely be very delicious since they had been made by the hands of the most
"Arran, that idiot!" Somebody cursed out loud, attracting the attention of everybody in the room.Turning towards the origin of the curse, nobody was surprised to find out that the culprit who was being loud and attention-grabbing was none other than Charmy. It did not come as a surprise because, over the course of the second elimination round, Charmy would on regular intervals erupt with high emotions, stirring up a fuss and drawing attention to herself. The people in the room were already used to it and since they could not do or say anything about this as she was a princess of the civilization, they all chose to ignore Charmy's antics. As soon as everybody had confirmed that it was indeed Charmy who was stirring up a fuss, they immediately turned their heads and paid attention to the activities of the participants. As for Eris who was standing beside Charmy at the moment and throughout all the times this had happened, she was already long numb to Charm
An hour had passed and the second elimination round was officially over. The small field where the participants who had cleared the second elimination round to rest was filled and all the pavilions were occupied. Counting roughly, the participants who had advanced to this stage numbered to about close to two thousand, and they were distributed individually throughout the various participants. These participants were either resting or eating the pills or delicacies so as to replenish their strength and stamina. Most of these participants had arrived in fairly good condition and they had not been very injured or exhausted when they had arrived, but there were some among the later participants who had been severely exhausted or injured when they had arrived in this field. Through these people, one could guess just how brutal and harrowing the competition had been at the end of the elimination round.Naturally, it was a given that as the second elimination ro
"If you ask me, then I think the first elimination round tested the most basic qualifications of all the participants in the ceremony. It is like how there is a cut-off point for admission in most institutions that determines the kind of results they accept. In this case, being able to clear the first elimination round is what qualifies us all to really participate in the ceremony properly.""For the second elimination round, it should have been a test meant to select the strong from the weak. This is normal since even if you are able to meet the qualifications to participate in the ceremony there would still be those who are naturally stronger than others. Still, the problem is that strength can be determined in different ways. Like for instance, there are people with powerful raw strength and there are also people who are not as strong as the others but still possess other advantages just like Reed who is very intelligent but whose strength in comparison is very lacking. A long red line that extended high into the sky separated the field from one end to the other. It was like the demarcation between life and death where one side of the line represented life and the other side represented death. On the side with the most participants, they stared with horror in their eyes as they saw everything on the other side get annihilated. Whether it was the participants who had been on the other side of the various pavilions that previously occupied the space there, everything was reduced to ash.Nobody knew when it first started but as the participants were coming to terms with the sudden destruction before them, suddenly, the red line started to extend towards the rest of the participants. That's right, slowly but surely, the red line of death started to creep towards the participants. for every second that passed, the red line of death would extend an extra meter forward, and following that everything it came across would be obliterated
Arran and Brianna were making their way through a region of dense black fog. The thickness of this fog was so much that nobody could see more than five meters around them.It was very easy to get lost in a fog like this and were it not for the fact that Brianna was holding onto Arran's hands, she would have already lost him a long time ago.Although Brianna could not see anything at all, she was not too bothered about this and she simply let Arran lead her through the fog. Occasionally, Brianna would be able to hear some movement in the fog like the shuffling of feet or the low whispers of voices in the dark. she knew that these sounds were made by the other participants who were also in the fog with them.Sometimes, there would be sounds of panic coming from the fog as participants bumped up against each other. Since visibility was very poor inside here as well as the fact that there were too many participants gathered together in one place, it was common for t
Run!Following this command, Arran held Brianna's hand tightly as he led her and sped into the fog ahead.Brianna obediently followed behind Arran and she did not even have the time to consider the dangers of rushing headlong into the fog. What occupied Brianna's thoughts right now was the skeletal arm ass well as the screams of the participants coming from the fog.As she was running through the fog with Arran, Brianna could see that there were more skeletal arms breaking through the earth trying to grab onto her feet. It was as if the sound of Brianna's feet striking against the ground was a signal for the skeletal arms underground to come out into the open. But this was not what terrified Brianna. The really terrifying thing was what followed appeared after the skeletal arm.Following the appearance of the skeletal arm, was the skull of some creature followed by the rest of the body of a skeleton. It was not surprising that the skeletal a
An undead uprising had occurred and countless undead skeletons crawled out of the earth and attacked the participants in the fog. With visibility being low, and there being panic due to the sudden attack of the undead skeletons, there was bound to be chaos. With the undead skeletons attacking the participants in large hordes, the participants retaliated indiscriminately, meaning that they did not care who or what they hit with their attacks. So far as anything so much as got within attacking distance of them, they would attack. Because of this, not only did the participants shave to watch out for the attacks of the undead skeletons, but they also had to make sure that they were not hit by the indiscriminate attacks of the other participants.Still, that was not where the main problem lay.The main problem facing the participants was that they could not stay in one place for very long. Not only was it a bad idea to stay in a place infested with the undead,
