Chapter 121

Carina's statement made Lecter chuckle. She felt quite embarrassed as he approached her, and whispered into her ear.

"Do you think that I'd trust you enough to ever make a deal with you? You're the daughter of my enemy. You came into my family with the sole aim of destroying it. And that is still your aim. I don't trust a word that comes out of your mouth," Lecter said to her.

"I knew you wouldn't believe me. But I am saying the truth. It's in my heart. I am willing to betray my father just for you. He has become different. Unstable. I fear he now posses a danger to everyone including himself, and I know that you can somehow prevent that from happening," she added.

Lecter scoffed.

"Funny hearing those things from you. But you do not even believe these words you're saying. When you have mustered the courage to believe them, come to me. Perhaps then, we'd have an agreement."

Lecter turned away from her and started walking towards the veil.
