Lecter approached that particular morning with a very wary mindset and he just didn’t understand why.

It was probably was because his ex-wife chose to bring about a spectacle surrounding them, putting him in a spotlight he obviously didn’t want.

Maybe because he also dreamt about life with Venita before their unfortunate separation, something he had given his all to bury for all eternity.

Well, either way, he didn’t sleep well and he wasn’t in the least happy about it.

That morning, during breakfast a servant spilled hot coffee on his white collared shirt, nearly burning him. Frustrated, he banged his hands on the table.

“Can I just have a fucking break?” He hated bad days as they had possibilities of more horrible things happening throughout the day. Right now, he just didn’t want that.

“Sorry,” The servant apologized frantically, stuttering. He shut his eyes, placing his thumb and his index finger on the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath.

“What were you thinking, huh?” Morris yelled over the phone, frantic, “How could you miss the target? What did I pay you then for, huh?” He couldn’t believe it when Dan called telling him that the person who died in the bomb explosion wasn’t Lecter James but his father. He had meticulously planned this waiting until it was finally time before sticking and yet it missed! “Mr. Morris, it wasn’t intended for the target to be misplaced. For some reason it just happened and there was no time to disrupt it.” “You had one job! One job! All you had to do was kill that bastard son of Kent James! Not him!” “It was a mistake, sir, everything soon became out of my control and I couldn’t—” He shut his eyes, placing his thumb and index finger on the bridge of his nose, “Enough. You have to go into hiding, quickly. Kent’s brat is really cunning, I mean I was once his father's friend so I know better. Very soon he should figure out that his father wasn’t the actual target and that it was him

Lecter approached the four walls of Morris’s house for one thing and one thing only: to get the truth, regardless of the cost. It didn’t matter to him the means he’d have to go through, he just had to know or he felt like he’d go insane soon enough. It kept him up at night each time reminding him that his father hadn’t truly been appeased and his murder would remain an unfortunate event. He couldn’t tolerate that, he wasn’t sure his father would, either. So that was the reason he was here with his men, right in front of Morris’s home, ringing the door bell. His insomnia and nightmares had gotten to him and there was a rage that was slowly building. A maid opened the door, eyes widened on seeing him, “Hello, sir,” She said softly but he didn’t miss the cautious look in her eyes, as if she was on guard against a predator. “I came to see Morris, tell him that I am here.” Lecter said in a cold time. It didn’t matter to me how cold he sounded. Nothing these days to him mattered at a

**some days later** The phone rang. "Hello!" Lecter picked up his phone, "Who is this?" “It's me, the PI. I have gotten a lot of information on the company run by Morris. How do I get them to you?" The investigator asked. “That's a silly question. How have you been giving me information all this while? Place copies of what you have in the trash box," Lecter said and the PI muttered incoherent things after a silence. "If it's your payment that you are worried about, be rest assured, if the information you got is as good as I think, you will get more." Lecter ended the call afterwards. - There was a knock on Lecter's office door. "Come in." He said. A man with an all-black outfit and a hoodie covering his head entered. It was the private investigator. Lecter frowned. "I thought to deliver these myself sir," the PI said. “Do you not know that you probably bring more attention to yourself because of what you're wearing?" Lecter asked him sarcastically. The PI just smirked

Chapter 22. Morris was moved from the investigation room to his cell. "That's not enough. He can't just get a normal cell; he must suffer for all he has done." Lecter said to the captain as Morris was being taken away. “Mr. James, let us do our jobs, okay? The only way he will get punished now is if the Judge deems it so. For now, all you can do is gather your evidence and make them good. " The captain told him. "Feel free to talk to any of my Detectives, especially Bruce, he is the head Detective. I have a meeting, so I'll be out of here very soon." He said and walked away. ***Detective Bruce sat at his desk, staring at the phone before him. A call from a commissioner from a higher precinct entered his phone. He wondered why such a high-power politician was calling him. “Hello, sir." Detective Bruce asked politely, trying his best to maintain a structure because of the level of positions. “Bruce. I heard you arrested Morris Thorn, right?" The commissioner, Morris's ally, as

Chapter 23 Dinner had quickly taken a turn as Lecter refused all of Morris' meals. Coincidentally, Venita had to miss the dinner to seal a deal with a fashion company which couldn't wait. Morris, on the other hand had just said something utterly provocative to Lecter.“What are you talking about?” He spat at Morris who stared at him, no remorse on his pale stricken face. “Kent did a good job hiding the truth from you but now he’s dead and I’ve been caught so there’s no reason to hold the truth from you anymore.” “What truth are you talking about, you despicable low-life?” Morris cackled, resembling a man who’s sanity had been stripped from him, “I may be a despicable low-life or a murderer. But your father isn’t that far off.” He grinned, “Your father was the one who took away from you the privilege of having a mother, not me.” Lecter felt as though he would soon implode. He wrinkled his forehead, trying to push away the migraine that was soon followed. Enraged, he dashed towar

"Why do we have to meet them yet?" Lecter questioned. "We'll be getting married soon. My dad knows who you are and he respects you. You would be meeting my stepmom and step-sister too..." Anna shuddered lightly. "They are complicated people, those ones," Anna said to him and faked a smile. Lecter immediately read her mood and became sober on the spot. “okay. Let's do this." Lecter stopped pacing. He sat down beside Anna, and she rested her head on his shoulder. “thank you baby. I know that tomorrow, you're going to blow them away. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I will not let anyone take you away." Anna hugged him “could they possibly manage?" Lecter asked and she laughed, pulling away from him. "So, I'm going home to set a good ground for you. I will text you when I'm home." Anna kissed Lecter on the lips, carried her bag, and left. *** “Mom, Mia, I'm home," Anna announced upon arrival. Her step mother and sister came to gloat. “Hey, Anna. It's so

“Must we do that?" Anna asked, exhaustion trailing on her face. “Yes, yes, we must. Your crazy stepmother must see how big and rich we are so that we can rub it in her face. " Lecter said. “Yeah, I want to see her face looking like shit. I hate her so much." Anna said after thinking for a moment. "You know what? I'm on board. Let's go and make her cry." For several weeks, Anna planned the most elaborate wedding party ever. It had a lot of allure; a well-recognized musician would attend, and she hosted the party at the most prestigious place. She put the wedding online; a website was even created for it. "Did you get the invite for Anna's wedding?" Mia asked her mother Her mother answered. "Yes, yes. Lecter put a bunch of lies in it; I have no idea who they are trying to show off. He must have had to suck off an old woman's cunt for that to happen." She laughed. “I wish he had sucked me off instead. I would have paid for it. " Mia joked. “Ugh, you're disgusting. Don't say dumb

That bastard had managed to slip from his hands the other day, but he wouldn’t be so lucky next time. The door to the office opened, and Bruce turned, expecting one of his new underlings. Instead, Rachel walked in, and Cecil came in after her. He gave Cecil a questioning look, and he responded with shaking his head, so he turned back to Rachael. Lecter sat in his upper minimalist office that gave him the best view in the city. The large window that went roof to floor made him feel like he had the entire world at his feet, and currently, that was how he felt. He had just closed a multi million dollar deal and was ready to call it a day when his phone rang. The caller ID showed a number that looked familiar, but he hadn't seen in a while. His brows furrowed as he picked up. “Lecter here.” He said, his voice cold. “Hello, old friend.” Came the reply, cold as ice. Lecter's heart skipped a beat. It was Bruce. “What do you want, Bruce?” Lecter asked Cooley. “Straight to the point as always. See, I have something— or rather, someone that belongs to you.” Bruce said, a sinister chuckle following his words. “Two someones, actually.” He laughed like a maniac. Lecter’s grip on the phone tightened. “What are you talking about?” “You might know Anna and Mia.” Bruce said casually, as if he was just discussing the weather.
