Kane along with Ari searched for the panther after they defeated all the smaller monsters in the area. They went deeper into the forest and stopped in their tracks when they saw a cave with drops of blood from the outside to the inside.
The blood started from a nearby tree and it went continuously towards the inside of a cave. Ari stopped Kane from going inside the cave and signaled him to not make any sound. If the blood started from somewhere nearby, there was a possibility that the thing inside the cave was a predator who attacked its prey right outside the cave.
Kane looked closer to the tree where the drops of blood started and he scoffed when he noticed the black fur mixed in with the blood. There were only two conclusions: it was either the panther was the predator or the panther had been the prey of a bigger monster.
“That is a panther’s fur,” Ari commented when she saw what Kane was looking at. “Do you think it was that panther&r
Mila looked at Kane and Ari who just arrived near the dungeon exit. The other rookies told them about what happened so she was sure that it was those two again.Instead of asking where they had been, Mila decided to have them create a dungeon report. Since they had the potential to be the leading hunters in the future, they should at least learn how to create a simple dungeon report.“You can do it, right?” Mila asked with a stern look on her face. Though it sounded like creating a dungeon report was a sort of punishment for going and fighting the boss without the trainers, the two should be aware that it was some sort of training for them.“Yes.”Ari sighed while Kane looked as if he could not be bothered by the sudden task. They all walked out of the dungeon together and Cyrus dismissed them as soon as he confirmed their headcount.“Those two…” Mila mumbled as she shook her head. “The others won&rs
The next day, Cyrus looked at Kane who had his eyes closed while seated in a lotus position. Was he circulating mana at that time? He sat across the young man and leaned his back on the rock. Since it was only the two of them, he should just let him do his own preparations. He was sure that his advancement to the specialized training would be earlier than next week since Gavin looked excited after Mila left. “Just a little more…” Kane sounded frustrated as soon as he opened his eyes. He just sat there looking at his hands as if he was looking for an answer and he would find it there in his palms. Cyrus just watched Kane stare at his hands with furrowed brows. For him, Kane looked like he was struggling to break through. Though he would like to help him as a trainer, he knew that at that moment Kane was the only one who could find the solution to his problem. After a while, the other rookies started to arrive. He saw Arisa sitting beside Kane but kept
The other rookies were shouting asking them what they did to pass through the island-like rocks. Kane sighed when he noticed that Ari was still staring blankly at him.“Hey, are you okay? Did you lose your mind because you almost died?” Kane asked her once more as he helped her stand up properly and regain her balance.“Thank you.” Ari bowed her head. She thought she would die but Kane saved her. If it was not for him, she would have really been dead.“You have nothing to be grateful for. I just did my job.” Kane made sure to use his usual indifferent tone. He let go of Ari and the latter looked in the direction where the other rookies were stranded.Seriously, Kane thought that those older rookies should start thinking on their own. Not all the time there would be people like them who would tell them what to do inside the dungeon.“Don’t tell them anything.”Kane’s eyes grew wide when he heard the voice from behind him. He looked at the pave stones and it was still taking its time pe
They finally got out of the sweltering dungeon with everyone in tow. Those who almost fell were assisted by Mila’s water magic. The other rookies felt ashamed that they only focused on the situation and forgot that Mila was a water mage.“You two… come with us to the Hunters Guild,” Gavin ordered Kane and Arisa. He made sure that only the two would hear his instruction so that no one would feel bad about setting those two apart from the others. When the other rookies left, Kane and Arisa rode with Gavin and Viktor while Mila went with Cyrus.Inside Gavin’s car, Kane kept silent while watching the road, Arisa was busy reading dungeon articles while Viktor was talking with Gavin about the changes in the Hunter’s Guild. Though the atmosphere in front was nice, Kane could feel the awkwardness between him and the young lady.He did not know what he did wrong but he noticed that Arisa seemed like she did not like to get involved with him. Since he did not care about that, he was not really
Kane went back to the inn with his mind still wandering back to the Hunter’s Guild. Why did he end up getting a promotion when he was still stuck? He wanted to try and gain a little more experience since he thought that fighting monsters would help him find out the reason why he felt that something was missing every time he used his abilities. How would he fight even more dangerous monsters with the state that he was in at the moment? It was something that he would not want to risk but if those trainers think that it would be fine for them, then he might as well give it a try.He stared at his hand. The real reason why he was bothered was because of the throbbing excitement that he felt when he heard that specialized training was held in more dangerous dungeons, equivalent to the hunter’s level. They were informed that they might take on Level C or B dungeons for the training and since then, he could not shake the excitement in his chest. He was not supposed to be excited since he wou
They continued to go through the grasses and passed countless trees but the two still did not know where their destination was. Arisa looked anxious because she was being kept in the dark but what made her more irritable was that her supposed to be comrade seemed to not mind anything at all.How could he be so calm when they were roaming around a mountain with a trainer whom they just met yesterday? She knew that the wild animals in that mountain were nothing compared to the monsters in the dungeon, but she could still not understand why they have to climb a mountain if they were all aware that they could not possibly hunt there?“Mr. Roa?” Since she could not keep it in, Arisa took the courage to ask the old man. “May I know what are we doing here in the mountain?”“We’re going to a place where you can train freely.”Arisa sighed. She could not understand him. How could they train freely in a mountain? Was there even a place where they could train freely? She looked at Kane who seeme
Kane sighed. He already finished three repetitions of the exercises but he could still not finish a full circulation while exercising. The more he restarted, the more he felt that it was impossible for him. It was frustrating. He stood up as he finished his third 5-minute plank. He was panting and his body was drenched in sweat. He was just exercising but his constant practice of mana circulation was starting to take a toll in his body. After he stabilized his breathing, Kane went back to the exercise. He started with the squats again, but he took a break from trying to circulate mana. If he tried for the next two repetitions, he was sure to collapse even before he could ask what his next task would be.Compared to the first three repetitions, Kane finished the last two repetitions with less strain on his body. He stretched his body first before he went towards the old man who had been keeping an eye on both of them.“You just finished your first task? Do you have a weak body?”Kane s
It had been five minutes since the dagger started sucking his mana and the whole land around him was turned brown and it also started looking healthy. However, his mana pool was not even burned to half. He did not realize it before, but just how big was his mana pool?“Don’t deplete your mana too much,” Viktor warned him but he just looked at him with furrowed eyes.“I haven’t even released half of the mana that was stored in my body,” he mumbled.“What did you say?” Gavin had a surprised look on his face. “Can you adjust the strength of your mana release?”“I’ll try…” Though he was not sure why Kane did what Gavin asked him to do. He released his mana faster and he saw how small sprouts of grasses started to grow around the dagger. The grasses’ growth was too fast that it covered a lot of land in no time. By the time the barren land was covered in grass, Kane’s mana reserved was finally cut in half. He continued to pour mana into the dagger though he was already feeling better.“How
