With no phone or watch I had no way to tell the time, but by my estimations, at least an hour had passed before Ms. Alin returned.
Too busy contemplating my existence and missing memories, I didn't notice her until she stood in front of me. It was only then that I saw the strange object she was carrying in both hands.
“Umm… what is that?”
If I had to describe its appearance, I would say it's a watermelon shaped like an apple. I guessed it was some type of alien fruit, but when I looked at Ms. Alien for confirmation she appeared as confused as me.
“This? According to the catalog, it’s a papaya.” She said with a straight face.
Of course, that thing didn't look anything close to a papaya if you ask me.
“… it seems… different from what I remember,” I commented while rising to my feet, still trying to understand what part of that was the papaya.
"I saw it for the first time when I arrived here, but I can confirm it is a papaya." She took a step in my direction. "Though since it's still raw, one has to co-"
Ms. Alien froze in her place for some reason and the fruit slipped out of her grasp. I was quick to react and caught it before it could hit the ground, but when I looked up at Ms. Alien I saw her hold a hand to her face and retreat a few steps.
"Um... I..."
"You stink!"
And just like that I was forced to shower again. My clothes were washed and dried on the spot as well.
~[ ]~
We began preparing breakfast soon after I came out of the shower. I gathered the wood for the fire, careful not to go too far of course, while Ms. Alien prepared the watermelon-apple-papaya fruit thing.
She took out a knife from her bag and started pilling the fruit, which took some time thanks to its size. The huge watermelon apple turned into a bunch of small cubes which Ms. Alien dropped into a pot.
Reaching into her bag once more, she took out something that looked like a cylindrical-shaped thermos with a shiny black surface. Of course, there was no way it was just a thermos.
My first guess was that it was some kind of alien high-tech device, but then I saw her remove the upper part and tilt the object toward the pot. To my utter shock, nothing but pure water spilled out.
Hm? That's weird...
"What's the matter?" Ms. Alien asked, having noticed my confusion.
"Ah, maybe it's just me seeing things." I smiled wryly. "That thermos sure can hold more water than it seems at first."
Ms. Alien glanced at the black cylinder then her eyes widened as if she understood something.
"Is this your first time seeing an Artifact?" She asked. "This one is pretty common, though. It's called the Dry Well."
I couldn't help but tilt my head.
"The... what now?"
"The Dry Well." Ms. Alien repeated. "It's an E-grade Artifact that can store large amounts of water despite its size."
"Ooh..."
It's a magic item!
I could feel the excitement ignite inside me as I heard the familiar terms.
"So it's not just any device, right?" I asked, probing for more information. "Would it be okay if I asked when and where it was created?"
The look I got in return made it clear that my questions sounded outrageous. Ms. Alien looked at me as if I was the alien, which wasn't entirely wrong.
"Say, are you just pretending, or do you seriously not know?" She asked.
I stare at her for a moment then feel embarrassed for some reason.
"I... haven't been outside for a very long time."
I barely knew anything about my current situation. I was missing most of my memories and even if I were to remember most of them it was doubtful whether any would be useful when it comes to this topic.
I was just a normal guy from Earth before waking in that underground structure. There is no way I could have known anything about aliens and their artifacts.
"That's strange." Ms. Alien muttered. "Even if you were to..."
After a moment of thought, she shifted her gaze back to me and raised her so-called Artifact.
"I will explain it to you as plainly as possible so listen well." She said. "Artifacts are special items created by the Ancients in the very distant past. They hold special status because of the difficulty of recreating them even with current technological advancements."
"The... Ancients?"
Oh boy! A mysterious civilization that left behind technology modern science can't replicate? Classic!
"That's odd." Ms. Alien said. "Even kids who can't yet read know about Artifacts."
She took another item out of her back and proceeded to use it to light the twigs I gathered earlier.
"Is that an Artifact as well?" I asked, earning myself another confused look from Ms. Alien.
"This is a simple lighter." She said.
As I hung my head in embarrassment, Ms. Alien placed the pot over the campfire. After a while, she took out a simple ladle and began steering the contents. Time passed as I observed her work and I soon began to notice something strange.
“… is... that it?” I asked.
“Hm? Yes." Ms. Alien said with a blank look. "Were you expecting something else?"
As I look down at the pot and see the contents slowly heat up, I couldn't help but wonder if this even counts as cooking.
Can’t we at least add some salt?
~◇~
“This is… amazing!!!!”
Thirteen minutes later the papaya fruit melted in the water entirely, turning into a thick creamy soup. The smell was nice, and once Ms. Alien served me a bowl and I took the first spoonful, I was bashed by a strong potato and cheese taste.
HOW!!!?
I gulped down the first bowl in a flash then went and asked for a refill, making Ms. Alien blink in surprise.
“Is it that good?” She asked.
“Mm! Really good!”
“Hmm…" Ms. Alien looked down at her bowl then brought a spoonful to her mouth. "Indeed, it has a stronger taste than any papaya-themed product I have ever tried.”
What kind of biology made an apple-shaped watermelon taste like potato and cheese? I mean, I can accept the potato part, but how the hell does a fruit taste like cheese?
Seeing me eat with full disregard for manners was probably why Ms. Alien kept observing me while forgetting about her portion.
Don't tell me she's still bothered by my smell... I look her in the eyes while putting another spoon in my mouth. I just showered, you know?
Of course, I was unable to maintain eye contact for long and had to look away. As I wolfed down my food I heard a faint chuckle.
“It’s just plain soup, you know.”
Whoa…
I was stunned. Petrified. Sitting opposite, Ms. Alien, elegant as ever, was giggling with a hand to her mouth. I found myself captivated by the sight, my breath taken away.
My throat moved as I swallowed, but as was completely distracted It all ended up going down the wrong pipe, causing me to go into a coughing fit.
“A-are you alright?" Ms. Alien was startled and quickly rushed over. "Here, have some water.”
She handed me the lid of her Dry Well artifact which was filled with water.
“N-no, I’m alright… thanks.”
That smile… that smile is dangerous!
As I drank the water I found myself wondering if survival was an option for me if she kept using that smile on me.
“You don’t have to rush," She said, going back to her seat. "Just take your time.”
"Y-yeah..."
As I focused on my food once again, I found myself stealing glances at the mysterious alien girl. Her charm was enhanced several folds under the morning sun. The gentle rays reflected against her golden hair adding to its luster, and the brown horns on either side of her head seemed particularly endearing.
The glances I took increased in length and before long I found myself staring. I had emptied my bowl at some point, and as I continued to ogle her, Ms. Alien suddenly stood up and picked up the pot.
“Sorry, I know you like it but... we have to leave enough for later, okay?”
I was confused for a couple of seconds before I realized that she had misinterpreted my looks as asking for more food.
“Oh, it's alright." I plastered a smile and tried to hide my embarrassment. "Thanks for the food."
“You're welcome."
Washing the dishes was left to a device inside the ship. As I watched Ms. Alien take them inside, I was suddenly reminded that there wasn't much for me to do now that we were done eating.
My worst nightmare became a reality when I found myself having to endure the oppressive silence and awkwardness of sitting across from an otherworldly beauty while having no idea what to say.
Ms. Alien remained silent as well. Her gaze was turned to the sky above, the blue color of which merged with her azure pupils. She seemed to be deep in thought for quite a while, uncaring about the strange atmosphere between us.
After some time she closed her eyes and heaved a long sigh. I saw her take a deep breath, my eyes glued to her rising bountiful chest like a starving child looking for milk.
Fortunately, I was able to avert my gaze at the last moment before she opened her eyes and fixed me with a stern look.
"Say,"
For a moment I feared that she might have caught on to the lecherous thoughts rampaging in my mind and stammered a response.
“y-y-yes!”
“There is something I wanted to ask you for some time now.”
Though her tone had no hint of anger in it, I didn't believe I was out of danger yet, or so I thought until I saw her twirling some strands of her hair around her finger as a faint pink color painted her cheeks.
“Is… something wrong?” My Adam's apple bounced in my throat twice and I felt heat slowly spread through my face.
Considering we were complete strangers there was no end to the questions she could ask me. Despite knowing that, I couldn't stop my expectations from heading in the least likely direction Ms. Alien would have chosen.
The seconds seemed to stretch on forever and the wait was starting to grow unbearable. I didn't know why but I felt that Ms. Alien thought the same, seeing that she was trying her best to gather the courage to speak, or so it looked to me.
“Well, it's just that..." Forcing those words out, she appeared to find the courage as she looked me in the eyes and said. "I already told you my name but… T still haven’t heard yours.”

“You... don’t remember anything!!”Surprise, shock, bewilderment. Those were the emotions that flashed through Ms. Alien, through Lilia's azure eyes. She was stunned for a while, her gaze locked on me as if expecting to be told the entire thing was a joke.“Well, there are things that I remember but…” scratching the back of my head I couldn’t help but look down. “Most of it isn’t of much help.”“You don’t remember your name?” She asked.“No.”“And where you are from?”“I have an idea, but...”Knowing I'm from Earth wasn't of much use. I don't even know if that's what aliens call it.“Any people you were close to? Your family or a friend or…”“No one comes to mind.”They have probably been dead for centuries now. That depends on us being in the same universe, though.“What do you remember then?”“hmm…” I looked up to the sky and tried to collect my thoughts. “I remember having a really bad day and...I almost got killed… oh, and I can recognize my face so I'm most likely still the same p
The conversation seemed to die down after my unintentional flirting attempt. That only fueled the embarrassment tormenting me, but looking at Lilia, I got the feeling that she didn't read too much into what I said.As I struggled to come up with anything to say, Ms. Alien, Lilia, suddenly got up."I will be going back to the ruins." She said. "Would you mind remaining here till I'm back?"My mind cleared at that instant and my head shot up."The ruins?"By "ruins" I was sure she was referring to the underground structure she found me in. There was simply no way I would stay behind while knowing she intended to go there."I'm coming with you."I tried to come across as determined as possible, but that only seemed to bother Ms. Alien, seeing that a displeased expression took over her face."I... don't know about that..." She said.I gazed at her for a couple of seconds, not knowing how to respond. I highly doubt that those ruins have anything that would help me regain some memories, but
“Um… uh… are you alright?"“I... I don’t think so…”Lilia's concerned voice reached me from the side, but despite my desire to see the gaze she graced me with, I could only respond weakly without raising my head, walking in slow steps while barely keeping track of my surroundings. We had to cut the ruin exploration short soon after investigating the room I woke up in.The broken pods and the metal plates inscribed with the words "Original Human Sample" were enough hints that something messed up had happened in that place but I still failed to grasp the extent of what awaited us.I caught a glimpse of Ms. Alien's shadow as she increased her pace so she would be walking ahead of me. I guessed that I was straying away from our chosen route which is why she was trying to subtly guide me.“I understand how you feel, but... let’s not rush to conclusions, okay?" She spoke in a much gentler tone than before. "There must be some logical explanation behind it…”The room beyond the one with the p
Born from earth and to earth shall return.Three days had passed since we found that cursed room. Lilia and I spent that time digging graves for the three hundred nameless children and the eight adults.I didn’t feel morally obligated to bury each one of them separately yet I did it anyway. I was the lucky one to have survived, and I just hated the idea of treating toddlers as a failed experiment. Some of them might even be my own clones or offspring, that was one of the speculations I didn’t want to think about.A graveyard had formed in such a short time. I stood there looking at the stones I placed to mark each of them. I think I understad why cloning was considered an unethical thing to do.“Did I tell you about it?” As I spoke my voice felt a bit dry, but I wasn’t about to shed any tears. “The last thing I remember before meeting you was me getting
At the end of the hallway we found another intersection. The plates that seem to show directions had faded long ago and without much to base our decision on we picked the right again. We arrived at a large gate that was left half open, after walking beyond it we arrived at another room. This one had boxes, many of them stacked on top of each other, and on each of the four walls are…“… Are those… weapons?” I said as I observed what I could only call a morbidly designed sword. Is this the armory or something?Lilia went and opened one of the boxes.“There are more inside…”Double edged swords, spears, lances, katanas, great swords, knives, hammers, scythes, axes, shields. They all had a little scienc
Sector twenty one, the laboratory ruins, LiliaWhat happened in this laboratory can’t be described easily. When I first found this person, original human sample 007, I realized something that disregarded all laws and morals happened in that institution.Experiments on the genetics of any sentient species is strictly prohibited by the interplanetary law, so unless it’s to find a cure for an illness that might cause extinction every race that is part of the Union is strictly prohibited from tempering with genetics. The law was signed by the majority of the members thousands of years ago as a result of the will of each race to preserve the purity of its blood, stop mutations from happening and to stop the manufacturing of biological weaponry. As a result of that exact law a number of legislations of the same purpose appeared on ea
Sector twenty one, planet Gorgola, the laboratory ruins, Lilia. We finished investigating the burned room. Although I say investigate, all we did was stand there and look at the scorched walls and the ash on the ground. It looked like it has been a while since it happened. We couldn’t confirm whether whoever, or whatever caused the hole downstairs came up here, but after a while O.H.S 007 started explaining a hypothesis he came up with.“Looking back at what little we know, I’m eighty percent sure the guy missing from the original human samples is the one responsible for this.” He said “He burned all the scientists watching the experiment that’s being conducted on him then fled by creating that hole. Since there are no weapons capable of this level of destruction among those we found in the arsenal I have a feeling that the e
“What’s wrong?” I asked, taking a step back as well. “This thing is still functional!!” Seven shouted. A second later a huge metallic hand struck the place he was standing in. If he hadn’t been fast enough in dodging it he would have been laying flat in the crater that formed there. The mechanic doll was rather slow, probably because of the lack of maintenance, but the force which it struck the floor with shouldn’t be taken lightly. A direct hit could cause severe damage. For humans, at least. It’s dangerous, but nothing I can’t handle. “Hey! Would you like me to take care of it? Or do you want to fight it on your own?” This might be a good chance to see what he’s capable of. From what he said before, Seven
I went to take a shower and after I got out I ran into Logan. He was surprised to see me, thinking I wouldn't be up for another few hours. He was holding Blue in his arms. Apparently she was playing with the other kids and fell asleep at some point so he came to put her in her bed. [This kid…]A third candidate, huh…Iris doesn’t seem to like Blue a lot. From the photos I saw and how Lilia described her I can see the similarities, and now that she has cat ears and tail instead of the Zesionien horns, Blue certainly looks like a miniature version of her.Blue reminded Iris of her childhood, and not in the pleasant nostalgic way. What made it worse was something Hir said after my speech.Blue told Lilia that she saw a ghost following me around. That shocked the both of us, but Iris felt frustrated that she never noticed she was being watched, and by a kid nonetheless. Blue was rather talented at hiding her presence, she even managed to steal my book right before our eyes and escaped wh
Sector twenty one, Gorgola’s, Tiga One, Seven. My eyes slowly fell on the somewhat familiar ceiling. The room was shrouded in a weak light and a weird smell wafted in the air."Mm…"The feint breathing sound reaching my ears brought to my attention the weak pain I felt on my chest. Lifting my head to investigate its cause I saw a ball of messy hair with what looked like horns coming out of both sides. One of them was pressed against me, that was the source of the pain."How can she even breathe like this?"Lilia was fast asleep. Seeing her like this makes me wonder if my chest was that good of a pillow. I moved aside the strands that covered her face, carefully stroking her hair. As I ran my fingers into it enjoying how silky it felt I breathed in relief and couldn't help but smile. Our naked bodies exchanged heat underneath the thin blanket. Lilia was so soft and warm. When she is sleeping beside me like this I sometimes forget about the fearsome warrior she was. This is my beautifu
Seven looked at his right hand, soaked wet after it made Lilia climax. The female Zesionien was gasping for air. She looked at him with moist eyes, her breasts moving a little with each breath she takes. Strength had left her body long ago and all she could do was accept his kiss before he gave her a moment to rest."We are just getting started yet you are already like this?" Seven said with a teasing smile. He took the blanket that was pushed aside and used it to wipe his hand."It's because… haa~… it's because you did that… ha~h...""Well, Lilia is so cute I simply couldn't resist." He went down and kissed her once more. "I want to do more… ah! I almost forgot…" He extended his hand to the wall on his left and tapped it twice. A small rectangular panel, green in color, appeared at that spot. It listed a few things; the temperature, the light and the door lock. However what he was looking for was the option to turn off communications so no one could bother them from that point on.
Sector twenty one, Gorgola's orbit, Tiga One.In her room, Lilia sat on the bedside looking somewhat nervous. She tried to calm herself taking one deep breath after the other, but her heartbeat refused to settle, and her body felt incredibly hot.Well, the heat shouldn't be a strange things considering she had finished showering a couple of minutes ago, but instead of cooling down her temperature just continued rising.I-I have to calm down, I can't let this go on!Just when the banquet was nearing its end Seven decided to take his leave. Thinking it was time to get some rest she was about to do the same, but when she rose to her feet Seven wrapped his arms around her and lifted her in a princess style carry. Those who saw it were numbered, with everyone in that place either snoring or too drunk, but she still felt the embarrassment of a crowd watching her being taken away knowing what was about to happen to her.Seven was perfectly awake. Not that sleeping for days enables him to st
Sector twenty one, Gorgola's orbit, the Verta clan’s mothership. The plan went through smoothly. There were a lot of details to go through, but for now Seven declared that it was time to celebrate. Such huge gatherings always called for a banquet. Food and drinks, music and dancing, then some crying and tears. It was a long journey that had finally come to an end. The whole clan went through a lot, and now that they’ve finally reached their end goal they could step back and get some well deserved rest. The Herara partied for hours on end, stuffing themselves before laying down and surrendering to slumber. The conference room was turned into a great hall. It was the center of the party, but now that the music had stopped and the laughter ceased, only a few heavy drunkards were still up while the rest dropped in their place snoring."Been a while since I've last seen this." From atop the stage Hir watched the satisfied expressions of his clan members, holding his cup with a drowsy lo
When they arrived back to the ship Hir summoned all the captains and the high ranked individuals to make the announcement, but he was surprised to find that the conference room was already full.Their patience had ran out. First they hear that the clan head was defeated, then that their goal was within reach. Three days passed and all they got were those two vague sets of information, and while still in the dark they were led to a place they never been to before. The higher ranked clan members were the ones who rallied the crowd to demand an answer from the head. The respect and fear they felt toward him were gone now that they know he lost to someone in a duel, and the longer they had to wait the more destabilized their loyalty became.Hir got on stage and gave a few words to introduce their new leader and as expected, he got quite the backlash. It's the first time they hear about such thing so reacting this way is perfectly normal. There were those who watched the duel between Seve
Sector twenty one, Gorgola's orbit, the Verta clan’s mothership. After it was decided that the Verta clan would be taken in by Seven they immediately set course for Gorgola. They had to call the ZSFCO and ask commander Blitz to order the retreat of the Zesionien forces that came in to intercept them. Though the old man demanded they give him an explanation later on it seemed he was convinced that things would turn out okay. The strain of the fight against Hir ended up affecting Seven more than expected causing him to stay in bed for the entire sixty five hour trip, and with a lot of explanation yet to be done a heavy atmosphere spread through the whole clan.Seven ordered Hir to not tell anyone anything, especially when it came to Iris. As expected, with such a giant battle happening right above their heads the clan members had quite a few questions to ask. Most of them watched their leader lose to a prisoner so they were worried, but their heads were cooled down temporarily when Hi
Sector twenty one, Gorgola's orbit, the Verta clan’s mothership. "Hmm…" Stroking his nonexistent beard, Seven thought to himself. Public speech huh, I don't think I have considered this seriously…"You can spit energy blasts from your mouth yet you can't say a few words in front of people?" Iris being Iris, she started making fun of him the moment he got cold feet.People I won't be killing, that's an important part. Besides, I don't think they have a very positive image of me…In the conference room, which is really just a big empty hall that could fit a lot of people, Seven stood in front of a large crowd. Most of them were the fur covered tiger faced male Herara, looking like what space pirates should look with scary eyes and scars here and there, but with not a single smoker in sight they felt more like a censored version for a kids show. Those were the captains of each ship in the clan's fleet. Two hundred was a big number, some of them brought a few guys from their crews, add
Sector twenty one, the Verta clan’s mothership. "I have finally found you, my lord." Hir said, his head lowered respectfully. "…. Did I fray your brains or something?" Seven replied, one of his brows rising up. "No, I'm in perfect condition both mentally and physically, my lord.""... I don't remember you hitting him on the head. Did you do it while I was knocked out?" Iris said, her head tilted slightly. I… don't know…The fight was done. Rather, if it went any further the ship wouldn't be able to hold. When Hir went down on his knees Seven expected him to admit his defeat, but instead he said something outrageous.‘I have finally found you’… Is he talking about… Seven thought."Nah… there is no way…" Iris added with a weak smile.Seven and Iris already understood what lord he was referring to, and they knew he wasn't exactly wrong. Lilia and Logan were in the dark on this one so they silently waited to see how Seven would react."Anyways, this means you surrender right?" Seven
