Sector twenty one, planet Rooster, Gram city, Seven. Apparently while I was wallowing in despair after Blue ran away from me Lilia and the others had set a time for another meeting to discuss our plans now that we have a ship on our hands. It was scheduled for lunch today, which was at twelve o’clock. Lilia was furious at me for not waking her up. She was left with only a few minutes to prepare and because of that we had to send a message to everyone telling them we’d be late.Iris blamed all of it on me for wasting time with Lisa when I had already overslept. However I believe half the blame is on her for not reminding me. I didn’t know about the meeting until Lilia began yelling.Lilia’s mood was sour for a while afterwards, at least until we arrived at the restaurant where the meeting would be held. It was decided that our room wasn’t a good place for everyone to gather, because of that we made a reservation at a high class restaurant that Erika recommended. It was a traditional
“Logan the next time you call me master I’ll fire you.” I replied, my eyes still fixated on the other guy.“Eeeeh!? My apologies! Sir! I will remember not to-"“And what does this very shady guy want from me?” Brayan said he’s here for Lilia, but my wife doesn’t seem to pay him any mind, her only interest right now being the little cat-girl.“Well…” Logan glanced at his acquaintance. “My apologies, though I don’t remember acting in a way that garners suspicions.” The synth said.“You trying not to is suspicious in itself.” I retorted.“I see. I only aimed to give a good second first impression, guess I have failed seeing that you don’t seem too fond of me.”“It’s only natural.” Came a voice from behind him. The last person to arrive was Lisa. “Many still find it difficult to accept your kind as living beings.” She just slid into the seat beside me as if it was reserved for her. “Sorry for being late.” “Since everyone is here let’s order some food first.” Said Lilia with a clap of h
“Rajol Aley…” Lisa spoke, her eyes lowered slightly. “I thought the name sounded familiar.”“You know about him?” I asked, pretending that I didn’t already hear the entire explanation from my resident ghost. Lisa went on to retell everything Iris said, adding things about other books she read and confirming that the writer was indeed a synth.“I see.” Aley nodded. “I’m happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed my books.”Just in case, I made him show us his ID card to confirm whether he’s really the guy he claims to be. Lilia used her book -smartphone- to check its authenticity, as she has some special accesses as a Zesionien Warrior, and turns out he’s the real deal.“So you’re a famous writer…” I said.“Yes.” He replied.“And you want us to give you a ride?”“Yes.”Something about his smile made me a bit uncomfortable. Is this what they talk about when they mention the uncanny valley? It’s an artificial smile that has no emotions behind it, just a product of calculations aiming to recreate
Lunch went on for another hour through which we discussed what needed to be done before our departure. I needed to get a new book, since I can’t access my wallet without it. Logan asked that we get supplies and other necessities. We also need some furniture and blankets.“Wow, didn’t know you can cook.” It was decided that Brayan and I would take care of the food and groceries while Lilia and Erika deal with the rest. Lisa said she’d pay for the water and some of the fuel with Aley paying for the rest. This is the first time since waking up that I’m hanging out with another guy, even though he’s an alien. Since we’ve both married recently our wives were the obvious go to topic and I began to learn a few stuff about Zesioniens and their culture. For example, taking care of the housework is traditionally the male's job.“Yes.” He said. “It’s one of the few things I’m good at.”At first this walking pile of muscles was too nervous to say anything, however he began to open up a little
Sector twenty one, planet Rooster, Gram city.“Lady Stoneheart. What a pleasant surprise.”The owner greeted Lilia as she entered the shop, a difficult expression painted on her face. Behind her was Blue, following them was Erika.“Good morning, Gilda.” Lilia said doing her best to smile. “I’ve come to take whatever we bought the other day.”“I see.” The owner nodded. “So you’ve managed to acquire a new ship?”“Yes.”“Then there is no need to come take it yourself. You could’ve just asked and I would’ve delivered it.”“Actually, there is one more thing.” Turning behind her, Lilia looked at the Herara child. “I want you to make a dress for her.”Gilda stared at Blue for a moment, her eyes slowly going wide. In the next one she chased the other customers out, going into a frenzy much like when Lilia and Seven shopped there for the first time.“I’ve never made clothes for Herara before, BUT!!!” holding the measuring tape, the shop owner slowly approached Blue. “For such a cutie I will ma
Sector Twenty one, Seven. It took another five days for the preparations to complete and with nothing to do I spent most of that time training. Not that kind of training.Among the stuff we looted from our new ship were all the weapons and ammo left behind by Giran’s crew. My routine was simple; I take a gun and shoot myself a few time then go on with my usual exercises in order to purify the energy I absorb. Since I’m not allowed to carry weapons around I had to do everything in the hotel room, however boredom would get to me from time to time and to combat it I would either go to Grand Canyon and hunt the criminals lurking there, or take a walk in the park. Why does one sound more interesting than the other? Well, the reason is simple. With everyone having a lot of free time and not much to do it was difficult to sneak into Lisa’s room. Though Lilia seemed to hang out with Erika and Blue a lot more, I didn’t want to risk being caught so I made arrangements with the adult female Zes
The ship took off and I soon learned that space travel could get even less interesting. The magic of the new ship faded after the first day and before I knew it there was nothing for me to do.Lilia spent most of her time reading books with Blue and of course I wasn’t welcomed to join them as the little one still hates me. Lisa locked herself in her room and only came out in time for dinner, or for a quick training session. As she was in a sensitive stage of her pregnancy, Erika had to stay in bed for the majority of the trip. Obviously Brayan remained by her side and bothering them wasn’t something I was keen on doing. I still didn’t trust Aley that much on top of his handsome face pissing me off, and Logan liked to take very long naps while leaving the ship on autopilot which made me wonder why we bothered to hire him. With nothing better to do I tried pouring my attention into my training absorbing and refining one energy cell after the other, however time seemed to stretch on for
The time has come. Everyone is gathered around the table, but only one of them was sitting.Taking a deep breath, I slowly walked over. There is nothing to worry about. I have already tasted it myself. It wasn’t on the same level as what we ate in Red Ramoul, still it turned out better than what you’d expect from a first try.I looked into Blue’s eyes and she looked back at me. She seems a bit stiff, her emotionless expression giving in to a hint of fear despite Lilia’s efforts to convince her to not be scared of me. Without saying a word, I placed the plate in front of her and watched as she stared at it for a moment, then gazed up at me.“We want to know your opinion.” I said then swallowed audibly. The slice was perfectly cooked. The surface had the right shade of brown and the inside was a sparkling cherry red overflowing with juiciness. Blue is still a child and obviously likes her sweets, because of that we opted to not use the spicy sauce for her plate, adding the mild one in
