81. Brendan's Theory

Brendan woke up with a start. It was dark outside. He looked at his watch: ‘Seven-fifteen?!’ How was it possible? The vision had not even lasted two minutes. He got up and headed downstairs.

Miriam was obviously asleep because the lights had been switched off.

He turned on the living room lights and he found Jack in his room, standing in the center like the ghost he was. His eyes did not hold any expression and neither did his face. ‘It’s done,’ he said.

‘What’s done?’ Brendan’s question came from curiosity.

‘I’ve cleared your name,’ said Jack washing his hands together, his face still not holding any obvious expression.

‘I don’t believe you.’

‘Then turn on the news and see for yourself.’
