Samantha had fallen asleep. She was breathing softly, her face turned to the opposite wall.

As soon as he reached downstairs, he headed for the kitchen.

‘I have to leave for a while Miriam,’ he told her while opening the door of the refrigerator. He took out a big red apple and a banana.

‘What about breakfast, sir?’ she asked him, her expression and tone both worried.

‘I have a guest…serve her…she’s still asleep in my room,’ he instructed her as he wolfed down the banana at the same time, ‘her name is Samantha.’ He was now working on the apple now. ‘Tell her I had to run a quick errand.’ The apple was now half eaten.

She nodded obediently.

He finished the rest of the apple and he threw the pulp in a dustbin i

She was still in her nightgown since she had not brought any clothes to wear.‘This house is a little chilly, brrr…’ he rubbed his hands on his shoulders, trying to convince her of a nonexistent chilly breeze. She sighed heavily, ‘you know you can tell me anything now, right?’‘Of course, I mean…w

Brendan switched off the TV and threw the remote control to the far end of the couch. He slowly ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, trying to think. Why didn’t the Finch reveal to the whole city the true identity of the Anonymous? Did she even know that the plan to kill him through the Bradwield Terror had failed? If he killed the Finch then he could at least breathe again but that was if he could. She was greatly talented in magic, which gave her an advantage over him. The other advantage she had over him was that she knew the identity of the Anonymous. As he meditated over this, he heard a swooshing sound from behind him. He looked over the couch. It was Jack.He quickly got up and walked towards him.Jack was clapping his hands. The expression on his face was admiration and envy. ‘I’ve got to give it to you, Brendan. Brendan wanted to turn on the TV and watch the news but he knew they were now talking about the death of the Bradwield Terror who had turned out to be the Flicker and Black Ice. He wondered how Samantha and Thomas’ parents would take it. But one thing kept him from turning on the news; the Finch’s ongoing holocaust. He also remembered one more thing which made him nervous; the Feline Race the Finch had talked about. How strong were they? What did they look like? Who else knew them but most importantly; where were they? He tried sleeping on the couch. Maybe if he had his vision it would explain to him the blatant questions racing through his head. Eventually, he did manage to fall asleep but he did not have his vision. He was woken up by Miriam two hours after midday to have his lunch. It was a pumpkin pie, a saucer of waffles and a glass of milk. As he wolfed these down, his eyes stared blankly into the screen of the switched off TV. He did not stop to even savor t

He ran up the walls of a multi-storey building, thinking this would at least shake her off his tail, but he was wrong. In the split-second that he had reached halfway up the building, he jumped in a backward flip so that when the Finch was below him he went for her throat with his right hand.
