Chapter 2: No! I don't want to be a shame to all transmigrators!

Chapter 2: Gosh! Am I dying so soon?

A 10-year-old kid was sitting on a flat, slightly elevated Rock while looking at a broken bowl beside him with contempt, his hand moved a few times but he couldn’t find the courage to dip it into the bowl.

Growl!!

His stomach rumbled for the tenth time, then… he starts to eat as if the content inside the bowl will grow wings and run away if he was a second late. He finished the food within a minute even though he was fighting the urge to throw up on the spot.

Who else could it be if not Charlie?

I must look for a good restaurant to enjoy better food once I get my first pay. Charlie swore inwardly.

Soon enough, the moon appears in the sky and Charlie was dumbfounded by the sight of the super big moon that lingered in the sky. His mouth was wide enough to contain a big egg as he observed the moon through the cave hole. Before he blink a second time, a much smaller red moon appeared on the horizon. Unlike the super big moon that looked much like the normal moon back on Earth (though, this one is six times bigger), the smaller red moon gave Charlie an uneasy feeling.

Charlie observed this new moon with keen interest, dark red spots pop up on the surface of the red moon within the interval of a few seconds. Each time a dark spot appears on the moon, Charlie felt his body weakened a great deal. He thought it was an illusion, but when he looked round the cave, all the orphans were lying on the floor, moaning in pain and breathing through their mouths. They were devoid of any strength; they couldn’t even lift their hands or legs.

Just as he was feeling drowned and dizzy as well, a flash of flames swamped the whole tribe and washed away the weakness of every tribe resident, and Charlie, along with the other orphans felt much better. Charlie learns from the memories of the original owner of the body that the flash of flames is one of the powers of the totems, it eases physical pains, pressure, stress, or weakness.

The dark red spots on the red moon are called bloody marks. They often appear on the red moon during the middle ten days of the month and whenever they appear, all normal people suffer physical weakness, while the totem warriors suffer power weakening, which means they can’t fight with the same level of the beast they can easily defeat before the appearance of the bloody marks. This is one of the reasons why the totem warriors come back home to the tribe after sunset.

Finally feeling tired and dizzy, Charlie closed his bleary eyes and fell asleep.

The next morning…

Charlie found himself inside a large room and different kinds of delicious goods were placed on a table before him. He smiled with glee and reached out for the biggest piece of meat on his plate, but the meat jumped on another plate. He chased the meat for a whole minute before it was caught. He was about to take a bite when the meat suddenly grew arms and starts to slap his face.

Pah!

“Wake up you damn fool!! Else we’ll be punished by the supervisor if we’re late.” A young girl of the same age as him slapped him with all the strength she could muster, before jerking her hand away from his mouth.

“Good morning kartia!” Charlie greeted while rubbing his eye.

Immediately he opened his eyes, he was met with an angry gaze.

“Keep the greetings for yourself,” kartia said before dragging him out of the cave, where another boy, pondhia was waiting for them.

Pondhia and kartia were also orphans like him, who could not awaken before they clocked 10. They’ve already joined the hunting logistics team a year ago.

The trio quickly hurried to the hunting logistics yard where they met with a burly, seven-foot-tall man who gave them all the tools and materials needed for this hunting expedition.

“ There are whetstones, sacks, and other tools that’ll be needed for the hunting session.”

The burly man explained to the trio and the group of orphans they met there. The man then turned to a group of newcomers.

“If there’s anything else you need to know, ask your friends and they’ll tell you on the way. The hunting groups have already been waiting at the tribe gate, make sure you get there on time.” The burly man dismissed them.

“Okay, I’ve understood the use of everything but this one, what’s the sack used for?” someone asked.

“ The sack is used for carrying the beasts killed during the hunting session…” Charlie explained.

The trio chatted with the group on the way till they reached the tribe gate. The groups of totem warriors were ready to leave when they arrived.

Three groups of totem warriors will go hunting in different directions at the gate of the totem tribe, ready to move on. Charlie and five other orphans (kartia and pondhia included) carried their tools and joined one of the three hunting teams 'the flaming tigers' group'.

The ‘original' Charlie had already learned everything there is to learn as a logistics team member. With the knowledge he inherited from the original Charlie, he knew that he have to keep up with the totem warriors group he is following.

The team had already slowed down their pace to keep the hunting group in order. Anyone who falls behind will be left on their own. if they were lucky they might be able to regroup with them, and if they’re not, they’ll be killed by wild animals. But the chance of them surviving alone is almost close to zero.

Charlie knew that that place is unlike his home world where laws of science still exists. The wild is full of dangerous plants and animals. No loner can survive on his or her own unless he or she is one of the top-ranked totem warriors. This made sure he is surrounded by his fellows and follows whatever instructions he was given, no matter how exhausted he is.

Immediately they entered the forest, he saw many things he didn’t belove exists. Things that could only be found in some mover writer’s imagination. The trees in the forest were fresh and their leaves were of different sizes and colors. Most of the trees were large, with a shocking height of 500 meters and above. He even saw a rainbow tree with fruits as big as a grown elephant. the funniest thing is that, as big as the fruit is, Charlie’s strength can not reach it even if he jumps with all his strength.

They encountered some mosquitoes, each one of which is as big as a hen when they got to a large swamp in the forest. The mosquitoes were driven away by a totem warrior at the front who was carrying a flaming torch. The torch spreads light and aura among the people behind. It was like a protective shield that blocked the attacks of those huge mosquitoes till they left the swamp area.

As time passes, Charlie’s body could not take the stress anymore. His legs were swollen and his shoulders hurt from carrying all those heavy tools; he was struggling to keep up with the group. While he was staggering to keep up with the rest, he stumbled over a huge stone. He was about to fall back behind completely when a strange strong of energy flowed out of the mini golden tattoo on his left hand and ran through his veins and body. He instantly felt clear-headed and energetic again.

Now that he is fully recovered, Charlie ran at top speed, to meet up with the hunting group ahead of him. He didn’t even think much about the strange energy that replenished his energy just now, he just doesn’t want to be left behind. He’ll examine them later when he’s safe enough.

However, just as he is five meters away from the group, he heard rustling sounds in the bush so he subconsciously looked over… lo and behold, a pair of dark green eyes were staring back at him. Before he could even turn back to run, the wild beast was already running in his direction at full speed.

Mummy! I just got here yesterday, why are you so eager to send me back?

Am I going to die so soon?

Different kinds of thoughts filled his mind while he was running at a full spread to meet up with the totem warriors.
