109: His Woe

As Zayed updated him on Omar's condition, his mind drifted back within a few moments to his past experiences with Yasmin.

Zayn thinks, "I can't forget the way she treated me when I was living with her family as a son-in-law whose identity wasn't known to them.

The way she looked down on me, and treated me like dirt, left an indelible mark on my soul," the memories flood back in a wave of bitterness and resentment.

"Yasmin was cold and cruel to me from the very beginning," Zayn continued to think.

"She made it clear that she did not approve of me, and that I was not good enough for her daughter. I can't but imagine how she made me feel small and insignificant, constantly belittling me and reminding me that I was nothing more than a burden on her family."
