CHAPTER 22: MEETING THE MAGIC KING

“The current magic king and the very first magic king is Alex, Abigail’s first love when she entered into Scarlet Magical High School. I will never forget their love story. They were the most beautiful couple at that time,” Sydney spoke, reminiscing about the past.

“Yeah, right,” Darwin responded, flinging his face away.

“But, you cannot deny the fact that it is true,” Syndey said, gazing at Darwin.

Varrick laughed, watching the two argue.

“I never knew my mom had a first love,” Leo said calmly, as he looked at her pearl necklace, placed on his neck.

“I won’t say first love, but he was like her only love,” Sydney added. “But when he came, things fell apart between them.”

“Who is the he?” Leo asked.

“There’s no need for you to find out. It’s all in the past now,” Varrick said. “For now, let’s find our way to the Maho Jo.

They all got ready to leave for the Maho Jo. Leo was more excited that anyone. He stepped out of the brothel and looked the sky. The sun had begun to set and the wind grew calm. The town became less busy because the day had ended.

“Hey, watch it!” Leo snared, after a lady ran passed him and climbed on his toe

“Sorry, Mister,” she said, as her blonde long hair swept through her face, turning to look at Leo with her piercing blue eyes.

Leo was captivated by her beauty but before he could say another word, she dashed off.

“Such a beauty,” he whispered, following her with his eyes.

“What are you looking at?” Sydney said, popping out from nowhere and hitting him on his back.

Leo held his shoulder and gave Sydney a cold gaze.

“No need to be rude about it,” Sydney spat, crossing her arms.

“Can’t you stop being a trouble maker for once?” Darwin asked as he came walking out of the brothel with Varrick.

Varrick held Darwin’s shoulder and nodded negatively.

“You know it’s not possible,” he whispered to Darwin. “Such a pity,”

“Hey, what do you mean by-”

“Exactly what you think I mean by that,” Varrick interrupted. “Let’s go, the cart is part a little far from here, we have to walk a little.”

As they began to walk, the smell of food caught their attention.

“Mm, smells so nice,” Leo exclaimed, drawn to the sweet aroma.

Sydney smirked at him, grabbing his hand.

“Let’s go check it out,” she said, dragging Leo along with her.

“Hold up,” Varrick said. “We’ll deviate from-”

“Let’s just follow them,” Darwin interrupted. “We cannot stop them.”

Varrick gazed at Darwin and he could see the urge of following the aroma in his eyes.

“You too,” Varrick sighed. “Let’s go then.”

Varrick and Darwin followed Sydney and Leo from behind. The aroma of whatever they smelt became stronger. Varrick became captivated.

After a while, they arrived at a small kiosk with a sign board “Tee’s Delight” displayed on the top. They walked into the small kiosk and their eyes wandered around.

“Welcome,” the woman at the counter said, smiling at them warmly.

Suddenly, their eyes met with a red cake, covered with pink toppings.

“Is this cake covered with a magic affinity?” Darwin asked, facing the counter lady.

“You have very good senses,” a lady smiled as she walked into the bakery through the back.

“Well, yes… uhm you don’t need to say it,” replied Darwin, blushing as the praise.

The lady walked up to the four of them and gazed at them with a warm smile.

“I’m Timmer and I own the bakery. I started a few weeks ago and with my cutlery magic affinity, whatever I bake will possess magic particles and tend to attract people with it seems,” she said, shaking their hands individually. “It’s nice to meet you all.”

“It’s nice to meet you to,” Varrick said. “And about the magic, it’s unique. But we’re kind of in a rush. Can we get one box of this cake?”

“Coming right up,” Timmy responded.

After a few minutes, Timmy brought out the box of cake, shared into four pieces. They all took their pieces and they ate it. They thanked Timmy and they told her that they’ll be back.

“Till next time,” she said, waving at them and watching them walk out of the bakery.

“That was a nice cake,” Leo said, rubbing his stomach and smiling from ear to ear.

“Yeah, it was-”

“Are you Darwin or Varrick?” a man asked from a white coated cart.

“Do we know him?” Varrick whispered to Darwin.

“Yes, see them he-”

“Sydney, hey,” Darwin exclaimed.

Darwin and Varrick did not want to let people know that they had returned to Ivandale. They wanted to lice a quiet life most especially because of Leo. Now that Leo is a target for Fang of Chaos, drawing less attention to him will be beneficial.

“What!” Sydney responded, rolling her eyes.

“My name is Pias and I was sent by The Magic King to pick you up in this cart and take you to the Maho Jo,” the man said.

“Wait…wait…wait, he sent you out here because of us?” Varrick questioned.

“Yes, he did and he’s expecting us in the next 15 minutes,” Pias said, flapping the ropes which controlled the cart.

They all glimpsed at themselves and they entered into the cart. After a 15 minutes cart ride, they arrive at a tall mansion. It had lavishing paint designs and wallpapers.

“So magnificent, as expected from the Magic King,” Leo said, funding over the beauty of the Maho Jo.

As they passed through a long road, built in-between forest of trees, they popped right in front of the house.

They were dropped at the front door of the Maho Jo. The door opened slowly and they entered.

“Welcome sir and Welcome miss,” a line of cooks, servants and butlers greeted.

The four were amazed and breathtaking. The Maho Jo was worth the hype.

“Varrick, Syd and Darwin, I’m so happy to see the same way I left you,” a man, his voice deep but commanding.

Leo looked up, watching the, am descend from the stairs. Is that the Magic King?
